Speak English Clearly & Confidently!

06:13
Do you need a new way to practice your English speaking and pronunciation skills? My private students have had so much success practicing with the Imitation Technique - I just had to share it with you! Sign up to the mmmEnglish newsletter and you’ll get 4 more imitation lessons to practise with! www.mmmenglish.com/signup 'To imitate' something is the same as 'to copy' something. So this technique is about copying what a native speaker says - exactly! It teaches you to listen to the sounds and patterns of English - and trains you to make those same sounds yourself. You are training your mouth with your EARS (by listening to the sounds) and not with your EYES (by reading and guessing the sounds). You are training your mouth with your ears. By practicing this technique, you will reduce your accent and pronunciation problems quickly and become a clearer and more confident English speaker. The Present Perfect Tense | English Grammar Lesson

13:43
This lesson is an overview of the present perfect tense What it looks like, how to use it and when to use it! Structure: Subject + have/has + main verb (past participle form) _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ If you don’t feel confident using the present perfect tense in English yet… There are probably a few reasons why! You need to know the past participle form of English verbs... And that can be pretty tricky with irregular verbs! 😳 And you need to understand how to use this tense! Perhaps you feel unsure about when to use the present perfect and when to use the past simple tenses. I will explain all of this inside this lesson. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ When using the present perfect tense, you need an auxiliary verb that helps your main verb to function. In the perfect tenses, the verb (to) have is always the auxiliary verb. In the present perfect tense, the main verb is in the past participle form. This is not difficult for regular past tense verbs. For regular verbs, the past participle form of the verb is the same as the past tense verb, so you just add -ed! But irregular verbs are different and the only way to learn the past participle form is to learn them individually. Past simple or present perfect tense? To answer this question you need to think about time. Finished time and unfinished time. Think about ‘last week’. That’s a good example of finished time. Last week is finished, it’s over. Yesterday, last week, last month, last year, 1991 - these are all examples of finished time… Time that is complete. What about ‘this week’? Is this week finished? No! Not yet. That is an example of unfinished time. There’s still more of this week to come. It’s not finished yet. When you are talking about a time period that has finished, use the past simple. When you are talking about a time period that is unfinished… Like today, this week, this month, this year, use the present perfect. Watch this lesson to learn when to use the present perfect and when to use the past simple tense. Read the full transcript to this video on my blog: https://www.mmmenglish.com/2017/09/13/the-present-perfect-tense/ *I recommend* ⭐️Speak with native teachers... 30mins every day! Present Perfect Tense | Simple or Continuous? | FOR & SINCE 🤔

13:23
In this lesson, we'll fix some common grammar mistakes made by English students when using the present perfect tense! 1. When should I use the present perfect simple and when should I use the present perfect continuous? [01:28] 2. When do I use 'since' and 'for'? [07:37] These are both really important questions when you are using the perfect tenses in English! And this video lesson will answer BOTH of them! Later in the lesson, I'll also show you how to use 'for' and 'since' with the present perfect tenses. Both of these words explain how long something has been happening. So, when you want to give more information about the amount of time that an action has been happening for - the duration of the action - you can use FOR or SINCE. Use FOR with a period of time. Use SINCE with a specific point in time. Uncountable English Nouns | Fix Common Grammar Mistakes & Errors

09:33
Grab the short course for $1! 👇👇👇 Stop making the 10 most common Mistakes English Learners Make! https://www.mmmenglish.com/grammar-challenge/ In this course you’ll practise what you learned in this lesson about uncountable nouns with quizzes and worksheets. PLUS, there are 9 more grammar lessons and quizzes to help you practise! So many of YOUR English mistakes are related to the way that you use nouns! In this free video lesson, we are going to improve your use of English nouns! There are two types of nouns - countable and uncountable. Knowing the difference between them and how you can use these types of nouns is really important. It affects how you use: - articles (a/an/the) - much/many - some/any - a little/a few - so/such Learning and understanding how countable and uncountable nouns are used differently in English will DRAMATICALLY improve your grammar! I've made a worksheet that you can download so you can practice what you learn in this lesson. This video, we’ll focus on uncountable nouns. You can check out my lesson on countable nouns right here: https://youtu.be/XWkRGtCd3eY What you need to know about uncountable nouns: Uncountable nouns are difficult to count! All of these nouns are uncountable: - Liquids (water, milk, wine) - Powders (flour, coffee, sugar) - gases (air) - electricity, money, music... - abstract nouns (like happiness, motivation and luck) Uncountable nouns have only one form - they cannot be plural. You can’t use 'a' or 'an' with uncountable nouns because they are used with singular nouns (one) - and uncountable nouns can’t be counted! You can’t use numbers with uncountable nouns! You can use ‘some’ with uncountable nouns - because we use it to say there is an amount, but not a specific amount. But you can also use uncountable nouns WITHOUT ‘some’: Can you get rice from the supermarket? When it’s not important to say how much! Watch the video lesson to learn how you can quantify uncountable nouns. Some uncountable nouns that are commonly used Most Common Mistakes that I see with uncountable nouns? Subject Verb Agreement | English Lesson | Common Grammar Mistakes

13:38
⭐️Try Grammarly Grammar Checker - it's FREE! https://www.grammarly.com/mmmenglish SUBJECT-VERB AGREEMENT is one of the most common mistakes that English learners make! It's so easy to forget that the verb form in English sentences changes, depending on the subject! - I AM hungry... - She IS thirsty... - They ARE fighting... - We HAVE been travelling - It HAS been so long. - She DOESN'T know... - You DON'T know... - They LIKE to travel. - She LIKES to travel. This English lesson will help you to review subject-verb agreement rules and fix your English grammar mistakes! I will also explain how these rules work in more complicated sentences. For example: sentences where the subject is a noun phrase, or where the subject and the verb are separated by a relative clause.
