Dubai, China, the United States and globalization from the man who may know it best, Jim Rogers. Called "The Indiana Jones of finance" by Time Magazine, Jim Rogers is one of the best global experts of our day. A conversation with legendary investor, adventurer and more... traveler Jim Rogers. Mr. Rogers and George Soros were co-founders of the famous Quantum Fund, one of the most successful hedge funds of all time. Mr. Rogers's extraordinary track record and insights alone set him apart from so many peers but perhaps most interesting is his take on the global economy. Mr. Rogers has traveled around the world twice, most recently on an ambitious 152,000 miles journey to over 115 countries. This trip earned him and his wife Paige Parker Rogers a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records. Mr. Rogers was called "the Indiana Jones of finance" by Time Magazine and recently has focused on commodities and investments in China. Jim Rogers is founder of the Rogers Commodity Index and a regular guest on CNBC and other programs. Jim Rogers is the author of Hot Commodities, A Bull in China, Investment Biker and Adventure Capitalist. In this video interview Jim Rogers discusses his thoughts on American isolationism,. Dubai, Abu Dhabi and the Middle East, Africa, Asia, commodities and our changing world. "If the middle of Africa blew up, we'd never know about it in the US. The rest of the world might, but we wouldnt." "Most Americans can point to Japan on a map, they cant tell you where it is or why they should know or why its important." "Dubai is working to become the best at everything." He has been a guest professor of finance at the Columbia Business School. In 1998 he created the Rogers International Commodities Index (RICI) and has been an outspoken advocate of agriculture investments. He wrote Adventure Capitalist following this around-the-world adventure. In 2007, Jim moved to Singapore due to the investment growth potential in Asia. In this episode Jim shares some excellent advice about how you should approach investing and what the next 10 to 20 years could turn out for the global economy. He suggests that North Korea, Russia and agriculture are contrarian bets that will have positive payoffs for those of us willing to go against the crowd. Also, I ask him about his views on cryptos and blockchain and whether he as any advice for you if you feel stuck in your job or if you’re undecided about what you should do if starting out on your career path. Jim Rogers has been there and done that. Retiring from Wall Street at age 37, he rode his motorcycle across China from 1990-1992 before ANYONE was talking about China and wrote the bestselling book "Investment Biker" describing his journey. He is legit, I remember the Wall Street traders talking Jim up when I started my career at Bankers Trust in 1993. Since then he's circumnavigated the globe AGAIN and become very bullish on agriculture, commodities, China, Russian, and, wait for it, North Korea! Bucket List After Teaching English Abroad For 15 Years-Long Motorcycle Trip Through Latin America

09:35
One item on my bucket list while I was teaching English abroad was to get a motorcycle and ride through foreign lands a la Jim Rogers in Investment Biker. I am now doing just that. I bought my dream bike--BMW F650GS and I'm now in Mexico. A few people have been super concerned about safety and I appreciate that, but here's my advice to mitigate risk for anyone who wants to do a similar trip: 1.) Don't ride at night 2.) Cross the border early in the morning 3.) Only take toll roads 4.) Inspect your bike well ahead of time 5.) Fill up your tank when you are at half 6.) Treat everyone you meet with kindness and respect. If you follow these rules, you'll likely have an amazing time and the scenery will knock your socks off. *********** FREE BOOKLET: Grab a copy of "Mind Blown: The Big 6"--available as an opt-in at: http://www.benteachesenglishoverseas.com/blog COACHING/RESUME HELP/MANUAL: http://www.benteachesenglishoverseas.com BLOG: http://www.benteachesenglishoverseas.com/blog CONNECT WITH ME! Jim Rogers - Check out some of his great books!

04:39
I recommend the following Jim Rogers' books as the BEST place to start if you want to (eventually) make money in mining stocks. And also as 'pre-reading' for mining books. All of this stuff fits together, and this is how to launch out of the starting gates! Here's a list of the books presented: 1. Investment Biker - http://www.amazon.com/Investment-Biker-Around-World-Rogers/dp/0812968719/ 2. Adventure Capitalist - http://www.amazon.com/Adventure-Capitalist-Ultimate-Road-Trip/dp/0812967267/ 3. A Gift to My Children - http://www.amazon.com/Gift-My-Children-Fathers-Investing/dp/1400067545/ 4. Hot Commodities - http://www.amazon.com/Hot-Commodities-Anyone-Invest-Profitably/dp/0812973712/ 5. Street Smarts - http://www.amazon.com/Street-Smarts-Adventures-Road-Markets/dp/0307986071/ Right now, you can easily find used copies of ALL of these books on Amazon for ~$5 or less if you live in the US! I'm sure you can find similar prices in many other parts of the world. Again, great place to start, and even better that you can get so much value on the cheap! =) *BONUS CONTENT - Financial Reckoning Day Fallout - Foreward by Jim Rogers - http://www.amazon.com/Financial-Reckoning-Day-Fallout-Depression/dp/047048327X/ Will mention this book in a future clip. For now, highly recommend the 3 page foreward simply because it's one of Jim Rogers' best writings. Worth picking up a used copy for ~$4 anyway! If you want to discuss this or anything else (even if you haven't read any Jim Rogers), feel free to email me at: miningbookguy (at) gmail (dot) com Oh, and one great Jim Rogers interview you can immediately check out! http://ceo.ca/2015/10/29/interview-jim-rogers-on-gold-wall-street-and-the-backwater-of-finance/

Jim Rogers on the Importance of China

01:18
JIM ROGERS - Legendary investor, television host, columnist, adventurer and best-selling author. His first book, Investment Biker: On the Road with Jim Rogers, is a unique and exciting look at the economies and emerging markets on six continents as witnessed from his motorcycle as he traveled over 66,000 miles around the world. His second book, Adventure Capitalist (Random House, 2003) details the insights, adventure and observations from his recently completed trip through a very different world. This 116-country, 152,000-mile overland trip had never been done before, and he was awarded a Guinness World Record. His unique ground-level observations illuminate, startle and amuse. First coming to prominence in the 1970's by teaming up with George Soros to form the Quantum Fund, a global investment partnership, during the next 10 years their portfolio gained more than 4000%. Jim's successes have been profiled in The New Money Masters, and Market Wizards, and he is a regular commentator for several CNBC programs and a regular columnist for Worth Magazine. His other books include Hot Commodities: How Anyone Can Invest Profitable in the World's Best Market and A Bull in China, released in December 2007. His most recent book, Street Smarts: Adventures on the Road and in the Markets, was released in February 2013. Jim Rogers - Wall Street Pays a Lot if You Understand the World

07:16
For the latest Jim Rogers, go to http://JimRogersBlog.com - If you enjoy figuring out how the world works, then Wall Street is a place that will pay you a tremendous amount of money for being correct. It is a big puzzle. Every day the pieces of the puzzle change, and it is a highly rewarding challenge. George Soros and Jim Rogers were both highly dedicated to their craft. They took a worldwide view, and they made a lot more money than most people. Rogers always wanted to see the world on a motorcycle. Out of this experience, he wrote a book called Investment Biker http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0812968719/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=thetimrea-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=0812968719. There was a horrible civil war in Peru, but there were opportunities down there. Seeing the world from the ground up is far better than reading about it or flying to airports and staying in hotels. Jim Rogers next book was A Bull in China http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0812977483/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=thetimrea-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=0812977483. It was easy to see the rise of Asia and that Russia was disintegrating. Parts of Africa looked promising, but Africa is highly decentralized and you have to understand the individual countries. As a loner and a maverick, you can learn a lot about yourself by traveling around the world on a motorcycle.

Jim Rogers on Brexit: If Scotland takes its oil with it...

05:09
James Beeland "Jim" Rogers, Jr. (born October 19, 1942) is an American businessman, investor, financial commentator and author. He is currently based in Singapore. Rogers is the Chairman of Rogers Holdings and Beeland Interests, Inc. He was the co-founder of the Quantum Fund and creator of the Rogers International Commodities Index (RICI). Rogers does not consider himself a member of any school of economic thought, but has acknowledged that his views best fit the label of Austrian School of economics. In 1964, Rogers joined Dominick & Dominick LLC on Wall Street, where he first learned about stocks and bonds. From 1966 to 1968, Rogers served as a draftee in the US Army for military service during the Vietnam War.[5] In 1970, Rogers joined investment bank Arnhold and S. Bleichroder, where he worked with George Soros.[6] In 1973, Soros and Rogers both left and founded the Quantum Fund. From 1970 to 1980, the portfolio gained 4200% while the S&P advanced about 47%.[7] The Quantum Fund was one of the first truly international funds. In 1980, Rogers decided to "retire", and spent some of his time traveling on a motorcycle around the world. Since then, he has been a guest professor of finance at the Columbia Business School.[8] In 1989 and 1990, Rogers was the moderator of WCBS' The Dreyfus Roundtable and FNN's The Profit Motive with Jim Rogers. From 1990 to 1992, he traveled through China again, as well as around the world, on motorcycle, over 100,000 miles (160,000 km) across six continents, which was picked up in the Guinness Book of World Records. He tells of his adventures and worldwide investments in Investment Biker, a bestselling book. In 1998, Rogers founded the Rogers International Commodity Index. In 2007, the index and its three sub-indices were linked to exchange-traded notes under the banner ELEMENTS. The notes track the total return of the indices as an accessible way to invest in the index. Rogers is an outspoken advocate of agriculture investments. Between January 1, 1999, and January 5, 2002, Rogers did another Guinness World Record journey through 116 countries, covering 245,000 kilometers with his wife, Paige Parker, in a custom-made Mercedes. The trip began in Iceland, which was about to celebrate the 1000th anniversary of Leif Eriksson's first trip to America. On January 5, 2002, they were back in New York City and their home on Riverside Drive. His route around the world can be viewed on his website, jimrogers.com. He wrote Adventure Capitalist following this around-the-world adventure. It is currently one of his bestselling books.

Antigua Guatemala - Jim Rogers Around the World Adventure!

03:27
Jim Rogers is the author of best sellers, Investment Biker, Hot Commodities, Adventure Capitalist and A Bull In China. Jim Rogers was named by John Train as one of the most successful money managers of all time. In 1999 and 2000 Jim and his wife Paige traveled around the world. Their adventure is documented here in The Millennium Adventure. La Antigua Guatemala is a city in the central highlands of Guatemala famous for its well-preserved Spanish Mudéjar-influenced Baroque architecture as well as a number of spectacular ruins of colonial churches. It has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Antigua Guatemala serves as the municipal seat for the surrounding municipality of the same name. It also serves as the departmental capital of Sacatepéquez Department. The city had a peak population of some 60,000 in the 1770s; the bulk of the population moved away in the late 18th century. Despite significant population growth in the late 20th century, the city had only reached half that number by the 1990s. According to the 2007 census, the city has some 34,685 inhabitants. Homestead in ruins of a colonial Spanish building; Volcánes de Fuego and Acatenango visible in distance A colonial church façade La Antigua Guatemala means the "Old Guatemala" and was the third capital of Guatemala. The first capital of Guatemala was founded on the site of a Kakchikel-Maya city, now called Iximche, on July 25, 1524 -the day of Saint James- and therefore named Ciudad de Santiago de los Caballeros de Goathemalan (City of Saint James of the Knights of Guatemala). Naturally, St. James became the patron saint of the city. After several Cakchiquel uprisings, the capital was moved to a more suitable site in the Valley of Almolonga on November 22, 1527, and kept its original name. When this city, now named Ciudad Vieja, was destroyed on September 11, 1541 by a devastating mudflow emanating from the Volcán de Agua,[2] the colonial authorities decided to move once more, this time to the Valley of Panchoy. So, on March 10, 1543 the Spanish conquistadors founded present-day Antigua, and again, it was named Santiago de los Caballeros. For more than 200 years it served as the seat of the military governor of the Spanish colony of Guatemala, a large region that included almost all of present-day Central America and the southernmost State of Mexico: Chiapas. In 1566 King Felipe II of Spain gave it the title of"Muy Noble y Muy Leal" ("Very Noble and Very Loyal"). On September 29, 1717, an estimated 7.4 magnitude earthquake hit Antigua Guatemala, and destroyed over 3,000 buildings. Much of the city's architecture was ruined. The damage the earthquake did to the city made authorities consider moving the capital to another city. In 1773, a series of earthquakes destroyed much of the town, which led to the third change in location for the city. The Spanish Crown ordered (1776) the removal of the capital to a safer location, the Valley of the Shrine, where Guatemala City, the modern capital of Guatemala, now stands. This new city did not retain its old name and was christened Nueva Guatemala de la Asunción (New Guatemala of the Ascension) and its patron saint is Our Lady of Ascension. The badly damaged city of Santiago de los Caballeros was ordered abandoned, although not everyone left, and was referred to as la Antigua Guatemala, or Old Guatemala. Central Park (Parque Central) is the heart of the city. The reconstructed fountain there is a popular gathering spot. Off to the side of the Central Park, the Arco de Santa Catalina is among the many notable architectural landmarks of La Antigua. The re-constructed Central Park fountain La Antigua is noted for its very elaborate religious celebrations during Lent (Cuaresma), leading up to Holy Week (Semana Santa) and Easter(Pascua). Each Sunday in Lent, one on the local parishes sponsor a Procession through the streets of Antigua. There are many Spanish language schools located in Antigua. Tourism is a major part of the local economy. This tourism economy is centered around restaurants, bars, hotels and tour operators. 06 01 15 - FINANCIAL REPRESSION AUTHORITY w/ Jim Rogers

22:06
JIM ROGERS is the author of the bestseller, Investment Biker: Around the World with Jim Rogers. His other books include Adventure Capitalist: The Ultimate Road Trip,A Gift to My Children: A Father's Lessons for Life and Investing, Hot Commodities: How Anyone Can Invest Profitably in the World's Best Market, and A Bull in China: Investing Profitably in the World's Greatest Market. Jim grew up in Demopolis, Alabama, and got started in business at the age of five, selling peanuts. Winning a scholarship to Yale, Rogers was coxswain on the crew. Upon graduation, he attended Balliol College at Oxford. After a stint in the army, he began work on Wall Street. He cofounded the Quantum Fund, a global-investment partnership. During the next ten years, the portfolio gained more than 4,000 percent, while the S&P rose less than 50 percent. Rogers then decided to retire--at age thirty-seven--but he did not remain idle.Continuing to manage his own portfolio, Rogers served as a professor of finance at the Columbia University Graduate School of Business and as moderator of The Dreyfus Roundtable on WCBS and The Profit Motive on FNN. At the same time, he laid the groundwork for his lifelong dream, an around-the-world motorcycle trip: more than 100,000 miles across six continents. He has contributed to Fox News, Worth, CNBC and others. FINANCIAL REPRESSION "Financial Repression can mean many things but basically in a nutshell it is a lack of free market finance and human activity, where the government thinks it is smarter than we are!" "History has shown many times that we are smarter than governments, politicians and the bureaucrats - but they don't like to give up power. When they make mistakes they blame it on us and try and make us pay for it! When they see a problem arise their first instinct is to try and suppress the public and markets. They try and do things they think will make things better, but of course it doesn't, and only makes things worse!" GOVERNMENT CONTROLS & REGULATIONS "When problems arise they put on exchange controls which is a time honored tradition of politicians and bureaucrats to correct mistakes they have made. We will have exchange controls in the US again - no question. We already have exchange controls to some extent such as FATCA and other things to make it more and more difficult for Americans to do anything as far as finances are concerned. They will put on trade controls, tariffs quotas - they will come up with all sorts of things." Politicians don't know what they are doing. History proves many times that politicians make things worse instead of better because what they do since they don't know anything themselves, they ask the bureaucrats how they can save themselves. The bureaucrats rush in and say "this is the way you save yourself". "It isn't your fault, it is the markets fault and those evil speculators and the people! They then come up with regulations and controls. They don't know what they are doing!" Regarding ZIRP, Operation Twist and three rounds of Quantitative Easing, Jim Rogers predicts: "We are going to have to pay a horrible price for yet another mistake made by the bureaucrats" WHAT SHOULD INVESTORS BE THINKING ABOUT? "The first thing investors should do is only do things they know a lot about! Don't listen to me or anyone else who you don't know what they are talking about. Do not so something that you yourself don't understand perfectly." "Everyone should know about having assets outside their own country. We all have fire insurance which we hope we will never use. Look upon international diversification as a kind of insurance. ... diversify internationally. "If you don't know about other asset classes then please, for goodness sake, learn about them because there are going to be many strange things happen in the next decade. THE CERTAINTY OF ECONOMIC SLOWDOWN "History shows in the US we have had economic slowdowns every four to seven years since the beginning of the republic. We are going to have them again no matter what people tell you. If someone tells you we will never have another economic slowdown - please put your money in your pocket and head as far away as you can!" "It is going to be much, much worse than 2008. There is higher debt everywhere than previously!" "We have never had history all the central banks printing such vast amounts of money at the same time! Ep 036: Jim Rogers – Legendary Investor Shares His Opinions on North Korea, China, Mandarin and the

Mikkel Thorup wanted to share this is repurposed content from our Podcast The Expat Money Show - To listen to the full episode click here: https://ExpatMoneyShow.com Legendary Investor Shares His Opinions on North Korea, China, Mandarin and the Current State of Education. In this Interview with Jim Rogers, I get updated opinions on everything from North Korea and China to the Mandarin language and the current state of education around the world. Jim Rogers tells me what he is teaching his own children and where he as an investor is putting his own money today.   Jim Rogers is a world-renowned investor, famously known for his co-founding of the Quantum Fund.  He has frequently appeared on CNBC, Fox Business and Bloomberg. He is a multiple best selling author and has multiple Guinness world records for his around the world trips visiting nearly every country on the planet. (listen in to hear which countries he has yet to visit!)   Jim Rogers Talks about his Current thoughts on Education On this episode of The Expat Money Show,  Jim Rogers and Mikkel Thorup talk in depth about education, specifically about their children and what kind of education they believe will propel them forward in this new and most difficult time. Jim writes in one of his earlier books why moving to China or another Asian country is such a vital move for parents.  If you really want to give your children an unfair advantage, the education system in Singapore or China is rigorous and difficult, unlike schools in the USA.   As with many of the guests, education is such an important topic. To hear from another multimillionaire entrepreneur on education listen to this fantastic interview with Jim Cockrum.   Jim Rogers spent most of his adult life not wanting children. He believed children were a horrible waste of time, energy, money and everything else, feeling sorry for people who had children, so he was not ever going to do it. Jim now believes everyone should have children and that he was just wrong for not having them earlier in his life.   In 2002, arriving back home in NYC after completing his third Guinness World Record being on the road for 3 years, covering more than 245,000 kilometres in a one-of-a-kind Mercedes-Benz taking them to six continents and 116 countries, they decided to have children.   Jim Rogers claims this was the best decision of his life. His two girls are now the center of his universe, in fact,  his 2009: A Gift to My Children book was written for his daughters. Listen in to hear about why he wrote this most special gift to his children.  This may spark some creativity in yourself for your children to follow!   Jim Rogers Opinion on Mandarin Mikkel and Jim discuss in lengths about what they believe the most important languages their children should speak. Due to the fact that Jim and his family live in Singapore, his two daughters are fluent in Mandarin and have actually won awards for the best Mandarin Speakers in the Nation.  Jim believes that this is the second most important language to learn, behind English.   In Ep: 025 Mikkel shares his own opinions about China and Mandarin and what he is doing in his own life to prepare.   Jim Rogers Books * 1994:  Investment Biker: Around the World with Jim Rogers * 2003: Adventure Capitalist: The Ultimate Road Trip * 2004: Hot Commodities: How Anyone Can Invest Profitably in the World's Greatest Market * 2009: A Gift to My Children: A Father's Lessons For Life and Investing * 2013: Street Smarts: Adventures on the Road and in the Markets   Jim Rogers talks about the possibility of a new book

Honduras Copan Archeology Trip - Jim Rogers Around the World

08:20
Jim Rogers is the author of best sellers, Investment Biker, Hot Commodities, Adventure Capitalist and A Bull In China. Jim Rogers was named by John Train as one of the most successful money managers of all time. In 1999 and 2000 Jim and his wife Paige traveled around the world. Their adventure is documented here in The Millennium Adventure. The Pre-Columbian city today known as Copán is a locale in western Honduras, in the Copán Department, near to the Guatemalan border. It is the site of a major Maya kingdom of the Classic era (5th through 9th Centuries). The kingdom, anciently named Xukpi (Corner-Bundle), flourished from the 5th century AD to the early 9th century, with antecedents going back to at least the 2nd century AD. Its name is an apparent reference to the fact that it was situated at the far southern and eastern end of Maya territory. The nearby modern village of Copán Ruinas itself may have anciently been known as Oxwitik. The site in Copan is known for producing a remarkable series of portrait stelae, most of which were placed along processional ways in the central plaza of the city and the adjoining "acropolis" (a large complex of overlapping step-pyramids, plazas, and palaces). The stelae and sculptured decorations of the buildings of Copán are some of the very finest surviving art of ancient Mesoamerica. Many structures are elaborately decorated with stone sculptures, usually constructed from a mosaic of carved stones of a size that one person could carry. The site also has a large court for playing the Mesoamerican ballgame. At its height in the late classic period Copán seems to have had an unusually prosperous class of minor nobility, scribes, and artisans, some of whom had homes of cut stone built for themselves (in most sites a privilege reserved for the rulers and high priests), some of which have carved hieroglyphic texts. The buildings suffered significantly from forces of nature in the centuries between the site's abandonment and the rediscovery of the ruins. There have been numerous earthquakes -- none of the roofs of the stone buildings were intact when the site was rediscovered, and the hieroglyphic stairway had collapsed. The Copán river changed course and meandered, destroying part of the acropolis (revealing in the process its archaeological stratigraphy in a large vertical cut) and apparently wiping out various subsidiary architectural groups in the region. In the long period when the site was overgrown the buildings and sculptures suffered from the invasive thick jungle vegetation and periodic forest fires. Archeologists have consolidated and restored many structures at the site. Copyright Jim Rogers - provided as a special contribution to The Fenton Report

Jim Rogers - Talk About Gold Price - US Economy Up & Down - George Soros - Stocks

35:50
Daily Voice News - Economic Collapse http://dailyvoicenews.com An Interview With Jim Rogers - Of Course We Are In A Stock Market Bubble Jim Rogers is the chairman of Rogers Holding Inc. and the bestselling author of various financial books. Roger's rise to fame occurred in the 1970's when he co-founded the Quantum Fund with Billionaire George Soros and captured a 4200% return in ten years. Below is an edited summary of his interview with The Investor’s Podcast where Rogers discusses gold, India, and current market conditions in the United States. Preston Pysh: First thing I want to talk about is gold. You have a position in gold, but you are hesitant to increase that position right now. Currently, we are in the second quarter of 2017. What are some things that would change this decision for you? Jim Rogers: Price is the main determinant, or time — if it was 2019, I might rush in and buy gold. For me, gold has not had enough corrections yet. There are still too many gold bugs. Pysh: So you are looking at it more from a psychological perspective. Would you say that the right time to buy gold is actually when there are a lot of people avoiding gold? Rogers: When people say, I never want to invest in gold again, that is when I want to invest in it. This is true of many things. When everybody is throwing it out the window, that is usually a good time to buy anything including gold. So far, there are too many people that love gold. Pysh: I was expecting you to give a quantitative answer, but I am surprised that you gave such a qualitative answer. Rogers: Investing is both qualitative and quantitative. I wish it was simple, but investing is a combination of everything, for gold and everything else. Gold has been around for thousands of years, so it has gone through many periods of bull and bear markets. Many people think of gold as a currency, but it is just another investment. Pysh: What do you think is the best approach to gold? I am thinking the best way would be to put a two and a half year call option on some gold mining companies. What do you think? Rogers: A two and a half year call would be fantastic if you can get the timing right at the bottom. You have enormous leverage with calls. You could do this with futures as well. If you get the timing and the product right with either calls or futures, you can make a lot of money.

Jim Rogers - On the Lew Rockwell Show

10:05
For the latest Jim Rogers, go to http://JimRogersBlog.com - Jim is the author of 5 books, such as Investment Biker, and A Gift to My Children. He wanted to write down everything that he learned during his life for his two daughters. They were born in 2003 and 2008, and he has moved them to Singapore so that they can understand more about Asia and to grow up speaking Mandarin. We have had a powerful rally in the stock market because of the stimulus. Powerful rallies like this usually last awhile. It isn't a good time to buy stocks in the United States or elsewhere. Most countries don't have real reform until there is a crisis. The solution to too much borrowing and too much spending cannot be more spending and borrowing. The politicians in Washington are talking out of both sides of their mouths. They just want to get reelected, and the way to do that is to promise to give them more money. People deserve the government that they get, and these people were elected. The Dollar has been the reserve currency for 60 years, but now we are in the process of bankrupting the country. Bernanke says not to worry about all the new money, because when the economy picks up, he will remove all the money from the economy. But that has never happened in the history of the world. There have been rare occasions when central banks have talked about that, but as soon as they see the consequences of that, they abandon that course of action. Every sector of the economy has experienced inflation, but they lie about it. When prices go berserk, they are going to look around for people to blame, and they are going to institute price controls. That is the easy way out for politicians, and they always take the easy way out. The good news is that they will be limited in what they can do because the market won't let them. Hopefully it doesn't happen in the next few years, but there could be social unrest in the United States. Obama ran on two platforms - taxing capital and protectionism. His instincts are to implement policies of more control which will cripple the economy.

Rogers always had a restless curiosity to experience and understand the world around him. In Street Smarts, he takes us through the highlights of his life in the financial markets, from his school days at Yale and Oxfordwhere despite the fact that he didnt have enough money to afford the appropriate pair of shoes, he coxed the crew and helped to win the Oxford-Cambridge Boat Race as well as the Thames Cup, the first of his three Guiness World Recordsto his first heady taste of Wall Street in the mid 1960s, and his years helping to run the most successful hedge fund on Wall Street. As a result of his extraordinary success with the Quantum Fund, Rogers was able to retire at the age of thirty-seven. Since then he has taught classes in finance at Columbia University, hosted television programs, and traveled the world seeing firsthand how revolutions in Chile affect coffee prices in Seattle, and how shortages of copper in Africa affect electricity brownouts in Ohio. In the course of his new book, Rogers offers often surprising observations on how the world works and what trends he sees in the future. He explains why Asia will be the dominant economic force in the twenty-first century and how he and his wife and two daughters moved to Singapore to prepare his family for the coming changes.. He discusses why America and the European Union are in decline, and what we need to do to right our economy and society. The age of Wall Street, Rogers claims, when the finance industry drove 25% of Americas growth, is over. Tomorrows economy will be driven by those who make things food, energy, goods and consumables.

Grand Canyon Arizona Jim Rogers Around the Globe Adventure 150 Countries

Jim Rogers is the author of best sellers, Investment Biker, Hot Commodities, Adventure Capitalist and A Bull In China. Jim Rogers was named by John Train as one of the most successful money managers of all time. In 1999 and 2000 Jim and his wife Paige traveled around the world. Their adventure is documented here in The Millennium Adventure. The Grand Canyon is a steep-sided gorge carved by the Colorado River in the United States state of Arizona. It is largely contained within the Grand Canyon National Park — one of the first national parks in the United States. President Theodore Roosevelt was a major proponent of preservation of the Grand Canyon area, and visited on numerous occasions to hunt and enjoy the scenery. View from the South Rim. Longstanding scientific consensus has been that the canyon was created by the Colorado River over a six million year period. The canyon is 277 miles (446 km) long, ranges in width from 4 to 18 miles (6.4 to 29 km) and attains a depth of over a mile (1.83 km)(6000 feet). Nearly two billion years of the Earth's history have been exposed as the Colorado River and its tributaries cut their channels through layer after layer of rock while the Colorado Plateau was uplifted. The "canyon began in the west, followed by another that formed in the east. Eventually, the two broke through and met as a single majestic rent in the earth some six million years ago. The merger apparently occurred where the river today bends to the west, in the area known as the Kaibab Arch. The State of Arizona is located in the southwestern region of the United States. The capital and largest city is Phoenix. The second largest city is Tucson, followed by the four Phoenix metropolitan area cities of Mesa, Glendale, Chandler, and Scottsdale. Arizona was the 48th and last of the contiguous states admitted to the Union on February 14, 1912. Arizona is noted for its desert climate, exceptionally hot summers, and mild winters, but the high country in the north features pine forests and mountain ranges with cooler weather than the lower deserts. New population figures for the year ending July 1, 2006 indicate that Arizona was at that time the fastest growing state in the United States, exceeding the growth of the previous leader, Nevada, and is currently the second. El Salvador Volcanic Ruins Joya de Ceren - Jim Rogers

02:01
Jim Rogers is the author of best sellers, Investment Biker, Hot Commodities, Adventure Capitalist and A Bull In China. Jim Rogers was named by John Train as one of the most successful money managers of all time. In 1999 and 2000 Jim and his wife Paige traveled around the world. Their adventure is documented here in The Millennium Adventure. Joya de Cerén (Jewel of Cerén in the Spanish language) is an archaeological site in El Salvador featuring a pre-Columbian Maya farming village preserved remarkably intact under layers of volcanic ash. It is often referred to as the "Pompeii of the Americas" in comparison to the famous Ancient Roman ruins. A small farming community inhabited as early as 900 BC, Cerén was on the southeast edge of the Maya cultural area. Cerén was evacuated in AD 250 due to the eruption of the Ilopango volcano but was repopulated no earlier than the year 400 and was, at the time of its final evacuation, a tributary to nearby San Andrés. Around the year 590,Loma Caldera, another nearby volcano, erupted and buried the village under 14 layers of ash. The villagers were apparently able to flee in time no bodies have been found although they left behind utensils, ceramics, furniture, and even half-eaten food in their haste to escape. The site was discovered in 1976 by Payson Sheets, a professor of anthropology at the University of Colorado at Boulder. Since then the excavation process has continued. About 70 buildings have been uncovered. Even more important than the buildings, however, are the paleoethnobotanical remains. The low temperature of the wet ash from Loma Caldera, as well as its rapid fall, ensured the preservation of much of the plant material. Of great importance is the discovery of manioc fields, the first time manioc cultivation had been found at a New World archaeological site.[3] Although the manioc had long since decomposed, researchers created plaster casts by filling the resulting hollows in the ash. The farmers had planted the manioc "just hours" before the eruption.[4] Cerén was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1993. antigua guatemala

Adventure Capitalist: The Ultimate Road Trip Audiobook by Jim Rogers

03:07
Listen to this audiobook in full for free with a 30-day trial: http://npen.icu/12/160919 Drive . . . and grow rich! The bestselling author of Investment Biker is back from the ultimate road trip: a three-year drive around the world that would ultimately set the Guinness record for the longest continuous car journey. In Adventure Capitalist, legendary investor Jim Rogers, dubbed the Indiana Jones of finance by Time magazine, proves that the best way to profit from the global situation is to see the world mile by mile. While I have never patronized a prostitute, he writes, I know that one can learn more about a country from speaking to the madam of a brothel or a black marketeer than from meeting a foreign minister. Behind the wheel of a sunburst-yellow, custom-built convertible Mercedes, Rogers and his fiancée, Paige Parker, began their Millennium Adventure on January 1, 1999, from Iceland. They traveled through 116 countries, including many where most have rarely ventured, such as Saudi Arabia, Myanmar, Angola, Sudan, Congo, Colombia, and East Timor. They drove through war zones, deserts, jungles, epidemics, and blizzards. They had many narrow escapes. They camped with nomads and camels in the western Sahara. They ate silkworms, iguanas, snakes, termites, guinea pigs, porcupines, crocodiles, and grasshoppers. Best of all, they saw the real world from the ground up-the only vantage point from which it can be truly understood-economically, politically, and socially. Here are just a few of the author's conclusions: • The new commodity bull market has started. • The twenty-first century will belong to China. • There is a dramatic shortage of women developing in Asia. • Pakistan is on the verge of disintegrating. • India, like many other large nations, will break into several countries. • The Euro is doomed to fail. • There are fortunes to be made in Angola. • Nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) are a scam. • Bolivia is a comer after decades of instability, thanks to gigantic amounts of natural gas. Adventure Capitalist is the most opinionated, sprawling, adventurous journey you're likely to take within the pages of a book-the perfect read for armchair adventurers, global investors, car enthusiasts, and anyone interested in seeing the world and understanding it as it really is. Jim Rogers author of "Street Smarts" sits down w Glenn Beck on The Blaze TV re. American Economics

Jim Rogers, author and financial guru, on the The Blaze TV with Glenn Beck discussing his book "Street Smarts: Adventures on the Road and in the Markets" for more about the book go to: http://www.bit.ly/StreetSmartsBook and for more books and interviews go to http://www.GlennBecksBookList.com Wall Street legend and bestselling author Jim Rogers offers investing insights and economic, political, and social analysis, drawing on lessons and observations from his lifetime in the markets. Jim Rogers, whose entertaining accounts of his travels around the world -- studying the markets from Russia to Singapore from the ground up-- has enthralled readers, investors and Wall Street aficionados for two decades in such books as Investment Biker, Adventure Capitalist, Hot Commodities and A Bull In China . In his engaging memoir Street Smarts, Rogers offers pithy commentary from a lifetime of adventure, from his early years growing up a naïve kid in Demopolis, Alabama, to his fledgling career on Wall Street, to his cofounding the wildly successful Quantum Fund.[omit George Soros] Rogers always had a restless curiosity to experience and understand the world around him. In Street Smarts, he takes us through the highlights of his life in the financial markets, from his school days at Yale and Oxford -- where despite the fact that he didn't have enough money to afford the appropriate pair of shoes, he coxed the crew and helped to win the Oxford-Cambridge Boat Race as well as the Thames Cup, the first of his three Guiness World Records,-- to his first heady taste of Wall Street in the mid - 1960s, and his years helping to run the most successful hedge fund on Wall Street. In the course of his new book, Rogers offers often surprising observations on how the world works -- and what trends he sees in the future. He explains why Asia will be the dominant economic force in the twenty-first century -- and how he and his wife and two daughters moved to Singapore to prepare his family for the coming changes.. He discusses why America and the European Union are in decline, and what we need to do to right our economy and society. The age of Wall Street, Rogers claims, when the finance industry drove 25% of America's growth, is over. Tomorrow's economy will be driven by those who make things -- food, energy, goods and consumables. Regarded as one of the most astute investors Wall Street has ever known, Jim Rogers once again is at his acerbic and storytelling best. (Amazon.com)
