For success solving electrical engineering circuit power practice problems, you can checkout the book I'm using for reference, Electricity Demystified - http://amzn.to/2ybreKU.
Some fun, simple, basic practice problems to solve for the power used and supplied within a circuit! At least I try to make them fun with these four practice problems. In this video I use the power equation P=VI to solve for the power used by a resistor when we 1) don't know the voltage across, 2) don't know the current running through it, and 3) don't know the resistor value. I also go through a problem to calculate how much power is supplied by a power source to the circuit. Here are the specific practice problems in detail:
1. If 2A of current is flowing through a resistor and the resistor has a 1V drop across it, how much power is the resistor consuming?
2. If there is a 1V drop across a 2k ohm resistor, how much power is the resistor consuming?
3. If 0.1mA of current flowing through a 3k ohm resistor, how much power is the resistor consuming?
4. If a 5V power supply (i.e. a battery) has 0.7mA of current being drawn from it, how much power is the supply providing the system?

0:00 INTRO: In this video we solve a combination series and parallel resistive circuit problem for the voltage across, current through and power dissipated by the circuit's resistors.
1:32 BREAK IT DOWN: We redraw the circuit in linear form to more easily identify series and parallel relationships. Then we combine resistors using equivalent resistance equations. After redrawing several times we end up with a single resistor representing the equivalent resistance of the circuit. We then apply Ohm's Law to this simple (or rather simplified) circuit and determine the circuit current (I-0 in the video).
7:36 BUILD IT UP: Retracing our redraws, we determine the voltage across and current through each resistor in the circuit using Ohm's Law.
12:51 POWER: After tabulating our solutions we determine the power dissipated by each resistor.

KVL is Kirchhoff's Voltage Law.
KCL is Kirchhoff's Current Law.
The general approach to these types of problems is to find several relationships between your knowns and unknowns within the circuit. Then, try to find a way to solve for one unknown at a time.

This physics video tutorial explains the concept of basic electricity and electric current. It explains how DC circuits work and how to calculate voltage, current, and electrical resistance using Ohm's law. In addition, it shows you how to calculate the electric charge and the number of electrons flowing through a wire at any given point. In addition, it has a few examples and practice problems on electric power, cost of electricity in Kwh and other stuff as well. It provides visual drawings, equations, and formulas as well as the units of common variables that you'll encounter when dealing with electricity. It discusses the difference between conventional current and electron flow. The unit of electric current is the ampere or amps for short. The unit for resistance is ohms and for voltage is volts. 1A is 1C/s or 1 coulomb per second. Electric current is the rate of electric charge flow. Charge represents the quantity of electrons in the case of metal conductors. The unit of power is the watt which is 1 Joule per second. Power is the rate at which energy is transferred. Equations used include V=IR, P=VI, and Q=It.

This physics video tutorial explains how to solve any resistors in series and parallel combination circuit problems. The first thing you need to do is calculate the equivalent resistance of the circuit which you can use to calculate the current flowing from the battery based on ohm's law. Using the current and the voltage drops across each resistor, you can calculate the electric potential at every point in the circuit which will allow you to calculate the current flowing through any resistor. This technique is useful if there's not multiple batteries in different loops of the equation. Keep in mind, the current flowing in two resistors that are in series with each other is the same. The voltage is the same across resistors connected in parallel. This video contains plenty of examples and practice problems including a current division formula for resistors connected in parallel.

Ohm's Law deals with the relationship between voltage and current in an ideal conductor.
This relationship states that👇
The potential difference (voltage) across an ideal conductor is proportional to the current through it.
The constant of proportionality is called the "resistance", R.
Ohm's Law is given by:
V = I R
where👇
V is the potential difference between two points which include a resistance R.
I is the current flowing through the resistance.
Ohm's Law can be used to solve simple circuits.
A complete circuit is one which is a closed loop.
It contains at least one source of voltage (thus providing an increase of potential energy),
and at least one potential drop
i.e.
a place where potential energy decreases.
The sum of the voltages around a complete circuit is zero.
4. An increase of potential energy in a circuit causes a charge to move from a lower to a higher potential (ie. voltage).
Note the difference between potential energy and potential.
Because of the electrostatic force, which tries to move a positive charge from a higher to a lower potential, there must be another 'force' to move charge from a lower potential to a higher inside the battery.
This so-called force is called the ELECTRO MOTIVE FORCE or emf.
The SI unit for the emf is a volt (and thus this is not really a force, despite its name).
A decrease of potential energy can occur by various means.
For example, heat lost in a circuit due to some electrical resistance could be one source of energy drop.
Because energy is conserved, the potential difference across an emf must be equal to the potential difference across the rest of the circuit.
That is, Ohm's Law

Ohm's Law Practice Problem Fun! At least I try to make them fun with these three practice problems. In this video I use ohm's law to solve for current, resistance, and voltage:
1. Given a 2k ohm resistor with a voltage drop of 1 volt across it, what is the current flowing down the resistor?
2. Given a 3k ohm resistor with 0.1mA of current flowing through it, what is the voltage drop across the resistor?
3. We know that 0.4A is flowing through a resistor. We also measure that there is a 2 volt drop across it. So what is the value of the resistor?

Computer engineering is the combination of electrical engineering and computer science. Computer engineering majors will take basic circuit analysis classes where they will learn about voltage and current in resistor, capacitor, and inductor circuits.
They will learn the basics of binary and how computers read 1's and 0's. Additionally computer engineers learn about memory, registers, microprocessors, and more of the computer hardware.
Computer engineers will then share many of their classes with computer scientists where they will learn computer programming.
The curriculum will consist of at least learning C and java. C programming can then be applied to programming hardware like robotic vehicles.
After learning different aspects of programming, computer engineers will have an option to take various elective classes that focus on specific aspects of either computer engineering, computer science, or electrical engineering. Computer engineering is a very flexible major because of having experience on both the hardware and software side so you can cater your career path based on your interests.

this method solves for what we want directly, in previous methods we had solved for the voltage of the capacitor and then for what we wanted but using this method we solve for the voltage over the capacitance and then plug it in to solve for what we want at time just after the switch is switched. this comes from problem 50 chapter 7 10th edition of basic engineering circuit analysis
