SOUNDBITE (Russian) Mikhail Fridman, Chairman of the Board of Alfa Group "The deal should have no relation to Russia's posititon on Iraq. Wide shot of machinery APTN Moscow, February 11, 2003 11. SOUNDBITE (English) William Browder, CEO of Hermitage Capital Management "It means a great deal for the Russian investors. Because having an important strategic investor putting the stamp of approval on this investment means that they are putting this stamp of approval on the entire Russian stock market and industry in general. APTN Tyumen Region, Siberia, 1999 12. Wide shot of pipes 13. Mid shot of machinery 14. Wide shot of oil rigs STORYLINE Energy giant British Petroleum on Tuesday claimed an "important milestone" in its history after unveiling a deal to dramatically lift its presence in Russia. BP was commenting on its agreement with Russia's Alfa Group investment group and Access-Renova to combine oil and gas operations in Russia and Ukraine. BP will take a 50 percent stake in the new company as part of the deal, which is worth six and three quarters of a (M) million US dollars. The energy giant will pay Alfa and Access-Renova three (B) billion dollars in cash and one and a quarter (B) billion dollars a year in BP shares in three tranches. The new company, so far without a name, will include stocks of Russia's Tyumen Oil Company and Sidanko. The new holding company will become the third-largest oil company in Russia, both by its reserves and production. The enlarged company's oil output is to make one point two (M) million barrels a day at oilfields whose store is estimated at five point two (B) billion barrels. Moscow sees the agreement as a vote of confidence in both the Russian economy and the country's political stability and hopes it will encourage further investments. Asked if the decision was prompted by the developments over Iraq, Alfa Group officials said they regarded the Gulf crisis as temporary, while the new venture was aimed at the long perspective. Shell’s results clearly beat BP’s but both oil firms need better crude prices

04:24
Royal Dutch Shell Plc (LON:RDSB) emerged as the obvious winner on ‘super Tuesday’ as the oil supermajor and its rival BP Plc (LON:BP) both released their figures for the most recent quarter, but according to Jasper Lawler, analyst at CMC Markets, both companies need better oil prices. In an interview, Lawler said: “US$50 per barrel is clearly a lot better than US$27 but it is still not enough to take these companies anywhere close to where they were before the downturn.” Nonetheless, the analyst notes that Shell is now seeing something of an inflection point. “They’ve managed to see some profit growth after a couple of years of really tough times,” he said. But turning attentions to BP, Lawler said: “BP is still suffering from their legacy of the Deepwater Horizon, it has had its final settlement there but it is still knocking onto costs each quarter,” He added: “obviously the low oil price is hurting the upstream business as it is at Shell, but the refining margins are hurting the downstream business as well.

Money Talks: Could Royal Dutch Shell buy BP?

03:10
Royal Dutch Shell's rumoured takeover bid for BP is not as outlandish as first appears, according to Edmund Shing, global equity portfolio manager at BCS Asset Management. Since July, the collapse in world oil prices has been the talk of global financial markets. Brent crude oil, the global benchmark, has fallen from $115 per barrel to under $69 today, a price not seen since 2009. This has been painful for investors holding oil & Gas stocks such as Royal Dutch Shell (RDS) or BP, with Royal Dutch Shell shareholders nursing losses of 10% since June, and BP shareholders an even more painful 15% loss since June. There have been a number of consequences of this sharp oil price fall, one of which has been an increase in merger & acquisition activity in the global Oil & Gas sector. For instance in Oil Services, Halliburton is in the process of taking over US rival Baker Hughes for $35bn. But perhaps the biggest potential takeover in this sector is still ahead of us, with talk of Royal Dutch Shell buying BP, despite the fact the British petroleum giant is worth over £136 billion at its current 425p share price.

OIL EXPLORATION IN ABU DHABI BRITISH PETROLEUM "A CALCULATED RISK" 62174

22:34
Made in 1963 by British Petroleum and presented in French, "Un Risque Calcule" / "A Calculated Risk" shows the search for oil in Abu Dhabi. The film was directed by Julian Spiro and produced by James Carr, with cinematography by Kenneth Reeves and underwater photography by Paul de Roubaix. The film opens with shots of a floating oil rig designed to extract petroleum from the deep sea near the new Umm-Shaif Oil Field adjacent to the United Arab Emirates. The Umm Shaif Oil Field is an oil field 84 km north west of Abu Dhabi Islands. It was discovered in 1958 and developed by Abu Dhabi Marine Areas Ltd, a joint venture between British Petroleum and Compagnie Française des Pétroles (CFP—later Total). The oil field is now operated and owned by Abu Dhabi National Oil Company. The total proven reserves of the Umm Shaif oil field are around 3.9 billion barrels (550×106tonnes), and production is centered on 300,000 barrels per day (48,000 m3/d). At 2:00, underwater shots show the apparatus used as a platform for the oil rig. At 3:00, the negotiation is shown with the local authorities to obtain permission for the extraction. At 6:40, the building of a jetty and industrial area to serve as an oil depot is shown. At 7:10, a floating barge is placed into position. At 7:24, the drilling platform which was built in Europe is towed out to sea sea before arriving in the Persian Gulf. At 10:20, crops are raised with water pumped using energy from the hydrocarbons. In this way the oil can change the way of life in Abu Dhabi in ways that it has not changed in thousands of years. At 13:00, an on-shore radio station communicates with the offshore oil platform. At 13:44, operations on board the platform are seen, going on all day and all night. At 16:20 pipes are shown allowing oil to be placed on board waiting tankers or sent to land via pipeline. At 17:14 a pipeline is laid in concrete and then at 18:45 placed underwater to service the offshore rig. At 20:33 the finished jetty is seen with its oil terminal, and a tanker (with its control center amidships) named British Valour arrives to take the first shipment of oil. Valour was built in 1957 and was a "special" ship built to government standards as an emergency reserve vessel and supposedly had a top speed of 21 knots. We encourage viewers to add comments and, especially, to provide additional information about our videos by adding a comment! See something interesting? A Plus Absorbent Cleans Up Oil Spills at Sea And on Land as seen on KBJR Northland's News Center

02:21
A Plus Absorbent ( http://www.APlusAbsorbent.com ) is a revolutionary new oil spill cleanup product, but we need to get the word to BP as fast as possible. A Plus Absorbent is organic, fast-acting bio-friendly oil absorbent that bio-degrades into beneficial rich soil after absorbing toxic spilled oil. Developed in Minnesota. enough absorbent to capture 11 million barrels of oil can be provided by W R WHITESIDE EQUIPMENT, but BP won't listen unless YOU contact them. http://www.bp.com/sectiongenericarticle.do?categoryId=9033574&contentId=7061709 Call BP's press office, call their investor relations, and ask them why they aren't using A Plus Absorbent to soak up the oil, instead of just skimming a little oil off the top of the spill! Call your representative, call your senator, ask why an organic product that works better than the chemical alternatives is not being used. The solutions being implemented in the Gulf of Mexico after the Deepwater Horizon oil rig exploded and collapsed are not working fast enough, and A Plus Absorbent is fast-acting and effective. Do your part in saving the birds, fish, reptiles, other animals and plants that could still be destroyed by the continued spread of oil, and the destructive side effects of current clean up processes. It is urgent that BP gets the message, but it takes YOU to do it. Working together we can revolutionize oil spill cleanup! A+ absorbent can stop oil from fouling birds mammals and reptiles at sea, clean tidewaters of oil. US EPA approved and organic. HELP US HELP SAVE THE GULF OF MEXICO! We have the ability to produce large quantities of "A+ Absorbent" an organic, high efficiency, fast acting oil absorbent. The A+ Absorbent is an organic reed sedge peat. The product is from an aquatic environment where it is part of the ecosystem of mammals, birds, and reptiles. Once the absorbent takes on the oil it will not give it up. When the absorbent has taken on all of the oil, the oil cannot foul, birds, or fish, or mammals, or reptiles, such as frogs etc crawling on the used absorbent and will not be releasing oil into the waters. The absorbent will pull oil from open water, aquatic tideland areas, and land. This may eliminate the bio-destructive effects of steaming of beaches and tidewater areas. A+ is bio active and if not recovered, even if fully sorbed, allows native vegetation to grow through and feed from the absorbent while native and contained microbes break down the oil to a plant usable form of nutrient. A+ can be sent in a number of sizes of material, fines (sheen removal), coffee ground size, or 1.5" x 1.5" by 2" to 4" pellet size. There are designs for 2 foot by 2 foot pillows and 4 foot x 4 foot mats. These designs have been tested for use with positive results. A+ when fully sorbed with oil has a surface tension that tends to hold the material together. Used A+ can be retrieved from water with a fine pocketed mesh. A+ can be used by persons experienced in handling fine materials. Application is limited only by your imagination: fire bomber bulk shoveled blown (airborne fine materials can be hazardous in confined spaces) bulk dump spreader etc A+ can help save personnel from some exposure to toxic vapors because its bond strongly retains vapor. This limits exposure mainly to vapor from as yet unabsorbed oil. W R Whiteside has large reserves and can process them quickly. We will have mobilization costs to produce quickly, for this emergency, the large quantities you need as soon as possible. As a rule of thumb: 40,000 pounds of absorbent will absorb 8,500 gallons of oil (under optimal conditions.) With your assistance I believe we can consistently produce 60 to 120 ton per day of bulk material to be shipped in 20 or 40 foot containers. ***(REVISED to 500 tons per day would absorb approximately near 110,000 gallons per day) WRW 5-3-10 We have clean up experience from both: the 1989 Valdez oil spill in Alaska the 2001 285,000 gallon on land oil spill which occurred near Livengood, Alaska. A+ Absorbent meets the definition of a sorbent as specified in Title 40 of the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), sections 300.5 and 300.915(g) of the National Contingency Plan (NCP). A+ Absorbent is a sorbent material and consists solely of the materials listed in section 300.915(g) (1) of the NCP. 5 Reasons to NOT Buy a Gas Station

07:47
Lets start with an interesting statistic. According to the NACS 2017 Retail Fuels Report, 59% of gas stations in the U.S. are one owner-operated. They own one store and often that store is attended by the owner. That type of business is what we call buying a job. The owners aren't working in the business because it makes so much money they are workimng there because they have to. Also interesting to note is that most major oil companies have sold off all or most of their fuel station holdings. Do you think you as a small business buyer have more market knowledge than the best business minds hired by the oil companies? Big oil is getting out of gas stations that should be a warning sign as shouold the huge number of single store owner operators. Many of these are struggling business owners making a living on very small margins. Which bring us to the next point 1. Small Margins. Here is a great infographic from the Orange County Register on where $50 spent at the pump goes. $30.75 to the oil company, $7.00 to the refineries, $6.00 on taxes, $4.00 to the delivery company, $1.25 on processing and transaction fees and finally right at the end of the chain you get $1.00. And that number can and does change sometimes even lower most owners suggesting an average of 1-3 cents net per gallon. If you speak with gas station owners as we do or even just visit forums and chatrooms with actual gas station owners most will tell you the gas is just a way to get people to the location and they actually make their money on cigarettes, soft drinks, coffee, and snack foods. But a huge problem today is more and more gas buyers are paying at the pump and not even entering the store making it even less profitable. But you will still have non driving walk in traffic leading us to reason #3 - rough customers 2. Most cheap gas stations are located in less than desirable neighborhoods and open 24 hours a day. And lets face it most gas stations are often frequented by some interesting people particularly in the late and early morning hours. We all watch Youtube and see some of the crazy stuff that happens in convenience stores and gas stations. That will also be happening to you - is that something you want to deal with? Ask your seller if they have ever had any issues where they had to call the police, and Google the address and see if any crime reports come up. There are over 7000 robberies each year at gas stations and 15,000 at conveniece stores which is disproportionate in relation to other businesses. 3. Franchising. Now there are many situations where the franchising model works. In my opinion gas is not one of them. In fact if you are at the mercy of buying only one companies gas at a fixed price, being unable to shop for better pricing, stuck with every promotion they decide on as well as having to pay franchise royalties and fees with your already slim margins, being profitable can be difficult. 4. Environmental issues. This is a problem specific to gas stations. Are the tanks leaking? If so the cost of cleanup can be costly. Many unwary buyers found themselves on the hook for huge bills because they chose to survey only assets that were above ground. 5. At the mercy of potential construction. Some unethical sellers pull a fast one and after determing that weeks or months of construction will make thier location inaccessible put it on the market. Always check with the local department of transportation prior to making an offer on a gas station. Or any business for that matter. Now in closing yes I understand that gas stations and convenience stores CAN be a good business or franchise. In these videos I provide the negative side because as we all know the seller is only giving you the good side. An business decision that has considered both the bad and the good is an educated one. Ventas Inc. (VTR) has one of the largest real estate portfolios in its industry. And this niche is a wonderful area to be in, as demographic trends all but guarantee greater demand for its properties going forward.
