Neuroanatomy : The Human Brain

For more information : http://neuromatiq.net For the specific article about the brain : http://neuromatiq.net/en/chapters/2-anatomy/05-the-brain.html Please : Like, comment, share, subscribe, comment on the web specific page, and you can contribute by either correcting the missing English translations, or translate some articles to a language you master, I can make videos with your sound recordings and credit you for that :). The human forebrain is made of two hemispheres almost symmetrical, left and right. And a diencephalon, a medial and single part that includes the thalamus and the hypothalamus. The two cerebral hemispheres are connected by commissural pathways, the biggest is the corpus callosum with more than 200 million fibers crossing from one side to the other. Each cerebral hemisphere is divided into two distinct regions: a peripheral part, the cortex "gray matter" containing the bodies of nerve cells, and a central part, made of white matter that contains axonal extension of neurons and their myelin sheath. Each hemisphere is cut by deep fissures that define lobes. The first is the lateral sulcus or Sylvian fissure, where lies the middle cerebral artery, it separates the frontal lobe of the temporal lobe. The second is the central sulcus or fissure of Rolando, between the frontal lobe and the parietal lobe. The third sulcus is the parieto-occipital sulcus, separating the occipital lobe from the temporal and parietal lobes. In addition there is a fifth lobe, non visible on the surface: the lobe of the insula, found by removing the Sylvian fissure. In each lobe, there are less deep sulci that delimit the ridges on the cerebral cortex we call gyri.

How Does Your Brain Clean Itself?

06:42
Your body is constantly cleaning itself and destroying strange things that wander in. But the brain isn't connected to that cleaning service. So how does your brain take out the trash? And what’s that got to do with Alzheimer’s Disease? Turns out, scientists made an incredible new discovery this year. They discovered the glymphatic system - your brain’s garbage disposal! But someone ought to give Mr. Mossman a sense of what to expect from his training.

How Scientists Found a New Neuron Hiding in Our Brains

03:20
This never-before-seen neuron was just found in the human brain, and it might hold the secret to what separates us from other animals. We Didn’t Think This Part of the Brain Existed, and It Could Save Your Life - https://youtu.be/RO3gTX1nlYE Read More: Meet the Rosehip Cell, A New Kind of Neuron https://www.wired.com/story/meet-the-rosehip-cell-a-new-kind-of-neuron/ “ On Monday, an international team of researchers introduced the world to a new kind of neuron, which, at this point, is believed to exist only in the human brain. The long nerve fibers known as axons of these densely bundled cells bulge in a way that reminded their discoverers of a rose without its petals—so much that they named them ‘rosehip cells.’” Scientists identify a new kind of human brain cell https://alleninstitute.org/what-we-do/brain-science/news-press/articles/scientists-identify-new-kind-human-brain-cell “In a new study published today in the journal Nature Neuroscience, Lein and his colleagues reveal one possible answer to that difficult question. The research team, co-led by Lein and Gábor Tamás, Ph.D., a neuroscientist at the University of Szeged in Szeged, Hungary, has uncovered a new type of human brain cell that has never been seen in mice and other well-studied laboratory animals.” Transcriptomic and morphophysiological evidence for a specialized human cortical GABAergic cell type https://www.nature.com/articles/s41593-018-0205-2 “ These rosehip cells show an immunohistochemical profile matching a single transcriptomically defined cell type whose specific molecular marker signature is not seen in mouse cortex. Rosehip cells in layer 1 make homotypic gap junctions, predominantly target apical dendritic shafts of layer 3 pyramidal neurons, and inhibit backpropagating pyramidal action potentials in microdomains of the dendritic tuft.” ____________________ Elements is more than just a science show. Arachnoid Mater Brain Layer - Human Anatomy | Kenhub

Wondering about the anatomy of the layers of the brain - also known as the brain meninges? Start by learning about the arachnoid mater layer in this video. Once you’re done watching, test yourself with this quiz! https://khub.me/mbk0b Oh, are you struggling with learning anatomy? We created the ★ Ultimate Anatomy Study Guide ★ to help you kick some gluteus maximus in any topic. Completely free. Download yours today: https://khub.me/2o5d6 The arachnoid mater is the middle layer of the three cranial meninges. “Meninges” is the collective term for the layers that cover the brain and spinal cord, lining the cranium and vertebral canal. They provide protection to the CNS. The arachnoid mater is deep to the dura mater but superficial to the pia mater. The term “arachnoid” is a reference to the spider web-like appearance of the arachnoid mater fibers, where they attach to the underlying pia mater. The arachnoid mater is a delicate, impermeable, avascular membrane which is reinforced by the meningeal layer of dura mater. It contributes to the circulation of cerebrospinal fluid throughout the central nervous system. In this video, we cover: 0:13 Meninges of the brain and spinal cord 0:45 The arachnoid mater location and definition 1:29 The subdural space and subarachnoid space 2:45 Cranial arachnoid mater and subarachnoid cisterns Want to test your knowledge on the arachnoid mater? For me, the most exciting part is how the ancient practices of Yoga and Ayurveda, which directly addressed brain cleansing, are now being supported by new studies linking cerebral spinal fluid (CSF) flow to brain lymph drainage. Boosting CSF has been linked to an improvement in cognitive function and a reduction of cognitive concerns in the elderly in one study. (8) In another study, aging was associated with a 50% reduction in CSF production in otherwise healthy adults. How Not to Play You | A Quick Brain Sweep - Video & Article Suggestions

15:56
If you are new to my channel or the piano world, this video will help you get started using the Water Pianism philosophy of Mind, Body and Piano. Herein, I provide some brief discussion on each, in the hope that you will then go and find the relevant video/article and be inspired by it! In a nutshell, it is the Mind which dictates to the Body what to play on the Piano; it is not the Piano which tells the Body what the Mind should do... right? Understanding related philosophies and teachings, not to mention the endless journey of self-discovery (what I call 'Musical Personality') which help you to play You, and not how someone else tells you to play!
