12. Money Market in India, Money Market Instruments, Money market and Capital Market- RBI Grade B

23:42
This video explains Money Market in India, Instruments of Money Market with their details, the difference between money market and Capital Market. Reforms in Money Market, Problems of money market in India, organised and unorganised sectors in Indian money market. Efficient transfer of resources from those having idle resources to others who have a pressing need for them is achieved through financial markets. Stated formally, financial markets provide channels for allocation of savings to investment. These provide a variety of assets to savers as well as various forms in which the investors can raise funds and thereby decouple the acts of saving and investment. The savers and investors are constrained not by their individual abilities, but by the economy’s ability, to invest and save respectively. The financial markets, thus, contribute to economic development to the extent that the latter depends on the rates of savings and investment. The unorganized sector of money market had its presence much before the commencement of organized development by the government in India. The activities of unorganized market are not regulated like organized market. The organised sector is present since the independence of India but its real development took place after the year 1985. The organised money market in India is regulated by the Reserve Bank of India. Main players of the organised money market are banks, NBFCs, development banks, cooperative sector etc. 3. Certificate of Deposits: Certificate of Deposit (CD) is a negotiable money market instrument and issued in dematerialised form or as a Usance Promissory Note against funds deposited at a bank or other eligible financial institution for a specified time period. Guidelines for issue of CDs are presently governed by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).
