#BizPrime CHART OF THE DAY: Rand-Dollar exchange

02:26
The rand was knocked today after the ruling African National Congress proposed that the South African Reserve Bank should be wholly state-owned rather than an institution with private shareholders. The recommendation was approved in a plenary session at the party's policy conference but still needs to be ratified at the party's national electoral conference in December. The move comes just two weeks after South Africa's Public Protector attempted to instigate a change in the bank mandate. Busisiwe Mkhwebane instructed Parliament to amend the constitution to make the Reserve Bank focus on "socioeconomic well-being of the citizens" rather than inflation. Economist says removing private shareholders would have no immediate effect on policy though it could be seen as symbolic. For more news, visit: http://www.sabc.co.za/news

How Exchange Rates Work

04:57
● We explain topics simply. So Subscribe if you want to learn while being entertained. ✔ Please like the video and comment if you enjoyed - it helps a lot! ▶ If you want a question answered then ask in the comments and we may make a video about it! About the video: You may have traveled a lot and wondered why you get more of one currency when you exchange it for another. If so, you have witnessed exchange rates in action, but do you know how they work? Watch the video to find out what exchange rates are, how to convert between them and the different systems which determine a currencies exchange rate. Historically the gold standard system had been used, which fixed currency to a select value of gold, held in a vault. The three main systems are the floating, managed and fixed exchange rate systems. The floating system has minimal government intervention, using supply and demand to determine the exchange rate. The managed exchange rate is allowed to be within a permitted band and a fixed exchange rate is usually pegged to a currency with the interest of being competitive in the international market. The video explains this in more detail and with helpful picture to guide you through the subject.

USD/ZAR Forecast March 28, 2019

01:14
The US dollar rallied rather significantly against the South African Rand during trading on Wednesday, finally breaking above the crucial 14.50 Rand resistance barrier. This is an area that has been crucial for several weeks, and the fact that we close towards the top of the candle stick also suggests that we are getting ready to go higher. Remember, I had recently suggested that the 14.65 level needs to be overcome in order to continue going higher, but it certainly looks as if we are going to make a significant attempt to do exactly that. Once we do, I would anticipate that the 14.75 Rand level would be next, followed by the 15.00 Rand level. This looks to be a classic breakout scenario, but obviously being an exotic currency pair you need to be a little bit more cautious about potential volatility than you would in a pair like the EUR/USD. for more analysis: http://www.dailyforex.com

Zimbabwe Dollar Is Back, Using USD, Other Currencies Is No Longer Allowed! | Zimbabwe New Currency!

04:22
Zimbabwe Dollar Is Back, Using USD, Other Currencies Is No Longer Allowed! | Zimbabwe New Currency! Foreign currencies are no longer accepted as legal tender in Zimbabwe, with Finance Minister Mthuli Ncube saying Monday that the Zimbabwe dollar is now the only acceptable medium of exchange for local transactions. This effectively sidelines the multiple currency regime that Zimbabwe has been using alongside the bond notes and the recently introduced RTGS$ currency. In a Statutory Instrument (SI) on Monday, the Zimbabwean Minister of Finance gazetted the official side-lining of the SA Rand, Botswana Pula and US Dollar as legal tender. "The Zimbabwe dollar shall, with effect from 24th June 2019 … be the sole legal tender in Zimbabwe in all transactions," reads the SI. The new finance measures have been legally effected under The Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (Legal Tender) Regulations 2019. "The British pound, United States Dollar, South African rand, Botswana pula and any other foreign currency whatsoever shall no longer be legal tender alongside the Zimbabwe dollar in any transactions in Zimbabwe." It also notes that "the opening or operation of foreign currency designated accounts... shall continue to be designated in the foreign currencies with which they are opened and in which they are operated". USD/ZAR Forecast April 29, 2019

01:01
The US dollar initially tried to rally during the trading session on Friday but found the area near 14.50 Rand to be a bit difficult to break above. After that, we break down below the bottom of the shooting star for the previous session, which of course is a sell signal. At this point, the market looks as if it is going to favor the South African Rand over the US dollar in the short term, mainly because we may be in more of a “risk on” type of situation. The South African Rand is a great way to play the emerging markets, because although it is an emerging market, it is structurally sound enough to invest in without a lot of concerns, at least that’s the way it’s always been. for more analysis: http://www.dailyforex.com

South African Rand affected by Asian market

The South African rand has hit yet another all time low after dropping sharply as market turmoil in the volatile Asian trade deterred risk taking. As of early morning trade the rand was at 16.78 against the US dollar, a drop of 2.85 per cent. The currency has been hitting record lows this year posing a threat to investors. There are concerns about sluggish growth in the developed nation. USD/ZAR Forecast April 5, 2019

01:30
The US dollar initially tried to rally against the South African Rand and many other currencies around the world during trading on Thursday. However, in the USD/ZAR pair, we ran into trouble at the 14.22 Rand level as it coincides with the 50 day EMA. We started selling off their and immediately showing selling pressure. That being the case, it looks as if we are going to continue to struggle and perhaps roll over towards much more significant support just underneath at the 14.00 Rand handle. That being said, we are getting ready to get the US jobs figure on Friday, and that of course will have a lot to do with where the US dollar goes from here. There will be a lot of volatility, so I suspect that in the exotic currency such as the South African Rand, it’s probably best to wait to see where the day ends up on the close. Ultimately, we have to pay attention to the 14.00 Rand level as it is the scene of the 200 day EMA, which of course makes a huge amount of interest to be paid attention to there. for more analysis: http://www.dailyforex.com

It tumbled to a session low of 14.9625, its weakest since October, before settling near 14.80. The currency has been hurt by the ANC’s internal squabble over whether the central bank should do more to promote jo… READ MORE : http://www.africanews.com/2019/06/06/south-african-rand-falls-to-its-lowest-in-2019 Africanews on YouTube brings you a daily dose of news, produced and realised in Africa, by and for Africans. USD/ZAR Forecast March 13, 2019

01:26
The US dollar pulled back initially during trading on Tuesday but turned around of form a nice-looking hammer. We have been grinding higher for some time, which makes sense considering that the world is a bit concerned about global growth, which of course favors the US dollar over emerging market currencies. In fact, the South African Rand has struggled even though gold has taken off to the upside, which perhaps has something to do with fear more than gold markets, because as most of you will know South Africa is a huge exporter of the yellow metal. However, the political situation in South Africa isn’t exactly stable, and that has been expressed in this chart. You can see that I have a grid laid out in equal distance, something that this pair tends to follow quite well. We have recently pulled back from the 14.50 Rand level, only to find buyers again. I think at this point we are trying to build up the necessary momentum to break out and reach towards 15 Rand. for more analysis: http://www.dailyforex.com

USD/ZAR Forecast May 14, 2019

The US dollar rallied significantly against the South African Rand as you would expect, as the global markets sold off rather drastically. Because of this, the market favors the greenback as far as safety is concerned, so it’s very likely that emerging market currencies such as the Rand will continue to suffer. That being said, the entire global situation is a bit skittish to say the least, and the occasional headline will come across that can throw the greenback and most certainly these emerging market currencies around. With that in mind, we will need to look to the larger picture in order to do any serious trading. for more analysis: http://www.dailyforex.com

The US dollar continues to be very choppy against some emerging market currencies, and of course the South African Rand will be any different. At this point, it’s very likely that the market continues to see both resistance and support based upon a very unstable global outlook for trading. The South African Rand of course is an emerging market currency, so it’s a place where people will put money when they want to express a “risk on” fashion. Contrast that with the US dollar that of course is the ultimate safety currency, with maybe the exception of the Japanese yen, so in that environment it’s easy to see which direction we “should be moving in” based upon what other markets are doing. We have seen a lot of choppiness and volatility during the Monday session when it comes to risk appetite, so it makes sense that we have formed a relatively neutral candle. for more analysis: http://www.dailyforex.com

SA Rand at weakest point against dollar in a week

South Africa and other emerging market currencies fell sharply on Tuesday, after China moved to devalue its currency. China's move followed the release of weaker than expected trade data. The Rand has slumped to 12.80 against the dollar, its worst level in almost 14 years. The Rand has been under pressure in recent months reacting to a pending rate hike in the US and China's move could have added concerns. CCTV's Sumitra Nydoo reports.

USD/ZAR Forecast March 25, 2019

01:12
The US dollar rallied significantly against most currencies around the world on Friday as there was a huge “risk off” attitude around the markets. That being the case, it makes sense that the South African Rand got hit. As I had talked about yesterday, there was an area right around 14.15 that was supportive, as we formed a bit of a neutral candle. As soon as we broke above the top of the candle stick, we reached towards the 14.50 level, an area that I suggested could be a bit of a target. The fact that we are closing at the top of that candlestick is also a signal in and of itself. for more analysis: http://www.dailyforex.com
