Java programs have to be compiled before they can be run. If you’re using an IDE like Eclipse or Netbeans you might not need to do this. But if you’re having trouble compiling java from the command line, here’s how to fix it. -Open Control Panel, then System -"Advanced System Settings" -"Environment variables" -Add a new "System Variable" -Name it (e.g. "0java"). The "Value" is to the installation location of the Java Development Kit -Something like C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.8.0_71 ---That’s for Java 8, update 71 (for some reason Java likes to add a 1. before the actual version number. So Java 1.8 is really Java version 8 and 1.7 would be version 7) -Now edit the "path" system variable. -Click new, then type %VARIABLE_NAME%\bin ---My example would be %0java%\bin -Close and reopen command prompt and now the javac command should work TO COMPILE & RUN: -Find your .java source file in command prompt -type "javac" then the name of the file: "javac MyProgram.java" -Then "java" then the class name with no extension: "java MyProgram" More Details on Java_Home http://www.mkyong.com/java/how-to-set-java_home-on-windows-10/ Running Java from command line http://introcs.cs.princeton.edu/java/15inout/windows-cmd.html Download jdk http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/index.html

Follow this step by step tutorial to learn how to set environment variables from system settings in the windows operating system. Don't forget to check out our site http://howtech.tv/ for more free how-to videos! http://youtube.com/ithowtovids - our feed http://www.facebook.com/howtechtv - join us on facebook https://plus.google.com/103440382717658277879 - our group in Google+ In this tutorial, you will learn how to set environment variables in windows. Operating systems require environment variables as settings and configurations for several processes. Although these variables are automatically defined or initialized during the installation of the system or specific software, in windows, to set environment variables manually is not a difficult task. That's because windows allows us to manually add, remove or edit environment variables through system settings according to our requirements. Step # 1 -- Opening environment variables In windows, to set environmental variables, you can take two paths. Either we can go to control panel, then access the system security option, and then the system option. Or we can simply right click on My Computer and select its properties. Once we are in the system window, select the advanced system settings from the list on the left side. A new window will pop up. Over here, click on the environment variables button near the bottom of this window and you can now access the Windows environment variables. Step # 2 -- Adding a variable In this window there are two sets of environment variables, one is the "user variables", and the other is the "system variables". Choose the new button in the user variables section to open the "define a new variable" dialog window. Over here, you will be required to define the variable name as anything you wish to set, such as temporary and then define its value as the path to the directory. With that done, let's complete this process by pressing OK. Your new environment variable has been created now. Step # 3 -- Editing and removing a variable To edit an environment variable, click on it, and then click on the edit button to open a dialog window. Here we can edit the name and value of the variable. Likewise to remove an environment variable, simply click on the variable and then click on the delete button. Once all the definitions are complete, close the window and restart your computer to allow the operating system to load these settings on boot. And that's basically all you need to know for how to set environment variables in windows.

FB - https://www.facebook.com/vachanala.viswanath How to install JAVA ?? http://youtu.be/TirasUtJldI?t=1m27s Hello everyone ! I just had a view of sharing about JAVA to my fellow mates.which is why I'm making this video so here.we are gonna learn about what is "JAVA" and..why do we need JAVA?What is the neccessity of using JAVA.And... the last is how to install JAVA.basically what is the full form of "JAVA"? Well, Its nothing. It's just ....JAVA So, how do you think it got named after java ? Well, I'm here to share it. The developers of JAVA were actually thinking about to name it.And ,they were just having a coffee while they were naming it. So, they just had a thought of keeping JAVA as it was a slang for coffe in those days. so coming to the point JAVA is basically a programming language and also a Computing Platform which was developed by James Gosling in 1995 where in, it was introduced by Sun Microsystems There are lots of applications and websites that will not work unless and until we have JAVA installed. And as you all know, the Android is actually based on "JAVA" And , there are many more apps that are getting started using Java day by day.So, if one wants to become a "developer", HE must be well versed with this "BEAST" So, now lets see how to install this "BEAST" So, the very first thing that i am going to do is Open a Google Browser or "CHROME" And now i;'m going to open google.com Here, I'll search for JAVA Development Kit. So, here we have this site desplayed over here.We can actually download Development Kit 7 or Development Kit 8 Or we can even call it as "JDK" this is the site , we have got into. this is the site from ORACLE Now , we have this option where we can download JAVA Development kit So, in this block... we have accept license Agreement,First we need to accept to download the JDK Here, you have to choose the operating system on which you are operating And mine is windows and its 64 bit operatong System So, I'm going to download this version. And here, The download begins. So,here we have this file downloaded. Executable File ,we just have to click on it. So,now its asking for permission and just click on "YES" and then is preparing to install and this procedure is actually for "NOOBS" Mostly, you people know how to install it.Click on "NEX" and "NEXT". and its installing Right now. so here's the Destination Folder and I'm clicking on "NEXT". and JAVAis successfully installed now we have our JAVAinstalled on our... laptop or PC so now , after we installed JAVA, we just need to check where have we installed it gonna check it.And .. It's in C, program fines and here it is. JAVA and this is JDK Now,I'm copy this adress the next step will be go to Computer . and right click on This PC Go to properties and now I have advanced system settings ,go there and we can find environment variables over here. And now, we have system variables at the bottom of it We just have to click on "NEW" and variable name we can make it JAVA_HOME and Variable Value , we need to paste the address over there. OK.And, we do have one more job now we have to go to bin folder and now we have to copy this address and I'm going to.... fine path in this one .System Variables so here its is, path. And m clicking on "EDIT" And here, This is VERY VERY VERY Important step Where,we shouldnt edit anything and put a semi-colon and then Paste your path. So,now you just have to restart your laptop or PC and , you can check the JAVAversion by just typing JAVAon command line prompt so this is it!!

The solution is given in the error itself. Go to My computer - system properties - Advanced system settings - Environment variables - Create new variable. Give the following details to it: Variable name : JAVA_HOME. Variable value : [your path to java jdk installation folder] To find the path for java installation, go to program files in your window installation drive. Find folder named JAVA, in that navigate to JDK folder. Copy the location address from the top, and paste it in the Variable value . Now Press Ok and once environment variable gets created restart the android studio.

Set the following user environment variables (== environment variables of type user variables) JAVA_HOME : C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.8.0_112 JDK_HOME : %JAVA_HOME% JRE_HOME : %JAVA_HOME%\jre CLASSPATH : .;%JAVA_HOME%\lib;%JAVA_HOME%\jre\lib PATH : your-unique-entries;%JAVA_HOME%\bin (make sure that the longish your-unique-entries does not contain any other references to another Java installation folder. Notice that these environment variables are derived from the "root" environment variable JAVA_HOME. This makes it easy to update your environment variables when updating the JDK. Just point JAVA_HOME to the fresh installation.

The procedure to set it varies from one operating system to another. In this article, we will teach you how to set java classpath on windows. Step 1 -- Open Advanced System Settings First of all, open the control panel and click on the "system and security" option. Once inside the system & security window, click on the "Advanced system settings" option there. Step 2 -- Click on the Environmental variables button As a result, the system properties window will open up. Over there, click on the Environment variables button. Step 3 -- Create a Classpath Now go to the system variables portion and click on the new button. A new window will appear where we can create a new system variable. Type "CLASS PATH" inside variable name field. For the variable value, we have to give the full path of the "JDK folder" on our system Once done with that, click on the OK button. Step 4 -- Check if classpath was configured correctly After that our variable would appear under the system variables portion. Now let us check whether we have configured our java classpath correctly or not. For that, open the command prompt, type "java" and hit enter. It would be noticed that the command prompt will recognize this command which means that windows has been integrated with the Java Classes Library through environmental variable. In this manner, you can set java classpath on windows.
Follow this tutorial to learn how to set shell environment variables in a Linux operating system like Ubuntu. Don't forget to check out our site http://howtech.tv/ for more free how-to videos! http://youtube.com/ithowtovids - our feed http://www.facebook.com/howtechtv - join us on facebook https://plus.google.com/103440382717658277879 - our group in Google+ In this tutorial, you will learn how to set environment variables in linux. Linux based operating systems use bash shell. The shell environment variables are used for several purposes, from storing data, storing software configurations, set terminal settings, and changing shell environment. The environment variables are normally created by the operating system during installation, or by different software as per the required need. Apart from that, in linux, to set environment variables, we first need to access the terminal application. That's because the user has the privilege to add, edit, and remove different variables at will. Step # 1 -- All variables on terminal In linux, to set environment variables we first need to access shell environment variables. For that, we will need to open the terminal by searching for it in the applications menu, or selecting it from the dock on the left. Once the terminal is opened up, to check for all environment variables, type the set command and press enter. This will list all the environment variables stored in the shell. Step # 2 -- One variable at a time The amount of these variables can become a very long list and locating one specific variable can become a tough task. Fortunately Linux allows us to display the value of one shell variable by using the echo command along with the name of the variable. This makes the task very easy. Step # 3 -- Changing a variable Now, to add or modify an environment variable, we can use the export command followed by the name of the variable and the values that go with it. Multiple values for a variable need to be separated by a colon. The colon indicates to the operating system that one value has ended and another has begun. The variables can be created and removed from the shell easily, and can be done whenever required. But changing important variables may mess with the operating system's functionalities so it's important to be careful. And that's basically all you need to know for how to set environment variables in Linux.
