2 Ways to Filter for a List of Items in Excel

09:02
Learn 2 ways to filter for a list of items in Excel. This video is a sample lesson from the Filters 101 Online Course. https://www.excelcampus.com/filters I explain 2 techniques for filtering a column for multiple items: 1. Use the Add current selection to filter method. 2. Use a formula based approach using the COUNTIF function. Click here to read the blog post: https://www.excelcampus.com/tips/filter-for-list/ Both of these techniques allow us to apply a filter to a single column for multiple criteria. If you have a long list of items to filter for (over 3), then method #2 using the COUNTIF function is a great way to go. This method also allows us to quickly filter for the items that are NOT in the filter list. We can use this technique to apply filters to pivot tables or dashboards with slicers. Please click the link below to learn more about the Filters 101 Online Course. https://www.excelcampus.com/filters I also have a free video series on Excel Filters. Here are links to each video. Use a Dropdown to Switch between Charts

Check out my Blog: http://exceltraining101.blogspot.com If you've got a table to show different views of a data series, you might want to show it one at a time. For example you may want to compare the sales, costs and profits of different items, but not all at the same time. Instead of creating three separate charts, you have a drop down for selection and it will show the respective view of your data. See the video to learn how to use a drop down combo box form control to switch between different charts in your worksheet. #exceltips #exceltipsandtricks #exceltutorial #doughexcel --------------------- Excel Training: https://www.exceltraining101.com/p/training.html Excel Books: https://www.amazon.com/shop/dough

Extract Data based on a drop down list selection in Excel

11:20
In this video tutorial, learn how to extract or filter data in Excel based on a drop down selection. This Excel trick is extremely useful in situations where you have a huge dataset and you want to extract part of it by making a selection. For example, suppose you have the sales transaction records or various products. You can use this technique to select the product item from the drop down list and all the records for that item would get extracted and listed separately. Since this is dynamic, you can change the selection from the drop down, and the results would update. There are three steps in extracting data based on a drop down selection: -- Create a Unique list of items. -- Add a drop down to display these unique items. -- Use helper columns to extract the records for the selected item. It also uses Excel formulas (INDEX, MATCH, ROWS, SMALL) to extract the data based on the drop down selection. It can work for extracting the data on the same or different worksheet in Excel Step-by-step written tutorial and download file: https://trumpexcel.com/extract-data-from-drop-down-list/ -~-~~-~~~-~~-~- Find Amazing Online Excel Tips and Tricks: https://trumpexcel.com/ -~-~~-~~~-~~-~- Let's Connect: Google+ ► https://plus.google.com/+Trumpexcel Facebook ► https://www.facebook.com/Trumpexcel Twitter ► https://twitter.com/TrumpExcel Pinterest ► https://in.pinterest.com/trumpexcel/ TrumpExcel Channel: https://www.youtube.com/c/trumpexcel

How to Choose a Water Filter

(See below for a shopping list and steps.) Click here to SUBSCRIBE to the official This Old House YouTube channel: http://www.youtube.com/subscription_center?add_user=thisoldhouse Shopping List for How to Choose a Water Filter: - Pitcher-style water filter - Faucet-mounted water filter - Under-sink water filter - Under-sink reverse-osmosis water filter - Whole-house water filter - Sediment filter Steps for How to Choose a Water Filter: 1. The simplest way to filter tap water is with a pitcher-style water filter, which has a granulated carbon filter that improves taste and odor, and removes some chlorine and sediment. 2. Faucet-mounted filters have a switch that diverts tap water through a granulated carbon filter. Turn on the switch for filtered drinking water; flip it off when washing dishes. 3. For greater water filtration convenience and capacity, install an under-sink, dual-filter system that has its own gooseneck faucet. 4. For optimum point-of-use filtration, consider a reverse-osmosis system. Water passes through a series of three filters, resulting in extremely clean, pure drinking water. 5. Whole-house water filters are installed near the water main and are ideal for delivering clean, filtered water to every faucet throughout the entire house. 6. There are a variety of filters available to remove a wide range of impurities. 7. Sediment filters contain a stainless-steel pre-screen filter and back-flush system that automatically cleans the filter. 8. For the highest level of water filtration, first have your tap water tested, then call in a water-treatment specialist to install a whole-house filtration system designed specifically to treat your water. Step 1 : Create the Department class. Add a TypeScript file to the models folder. Name it department.model.ts. Copy and paste the following code. Notice the Department class has 2 properties - id and name of the department. export class Department { id: number; name: string; } Step 2 : Import the Department class. Include the following import statement in create-employee.component.ts file import { Department } from '../models/department.model'; Step 3 : Include the following array of departments in CreateEmployeeComponent class in create-employee.component.ts file departments: Department[] = [ { id: 1, name: 'Help Desk' }, { id: 2, name: 'HR' }, { id: 3, name: 'IT' }, { id: 4, name: 'Payroll' } ]; Please note : The "Department" type is not required for the application to work, but it adds great value during development. Using it provides us intellisense, error checking and type saftey. For the HTML used in the video, please refer to my blog link below http://csharp-video-tutorials.blogspot.com/2018/01/angular-select-options-from-array.html Code explanation: 1. On the "option" element we are using ngFor structural directive to loop over the array of departments we have in the "departments" property of the component class 2. For each "Department" object in the "departments" array, we get an option. 3. The option value is the department id and the display text is the department name 4. Notice the square brackets around the [value] property. This is property binding in Angular. We discussed property binding in detail in Part 9 of Angular 2 tutorial. If you remove the square brackets the value for each option will be the literal text "dept.id" instead of the department id (1 or 2 or 3 etc.) Property binding in Angular https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RGYfTx9AAQA&list=PL6n9fhu94yhWqGD8BuKuX-VTKqlNBj-m6&index=9 5. To display the deprtment name we are using interpolation. We discussed interpolation in Part 8 of Angular 2 tutorial. Interpolation in Angular https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2FkkAqFWRk8&list=PL6n9fhu94yhWqGD8BuKuX-VTKqlNBj-m6&index=8 6. Since ngFor is a structural directive there is an asterisk before it. 7. Structural directives modify the DOM, i.e they add or remove the elements from DOM. Adding and removing elements from DOM is different from showing and hiding. We will discuss all these in detail in our upcoming videos. At this point, when we select a department, the respective department id is included in the Angular generated form model. Along the same lines, when we click the "Save" button the respective department id is logged to the console. Please note : It is important that we include the ngFor directive on the element that we want to be repeated. In our case we want an option element for each department we have in the array. So we included the ngFor directive on the option element. If we instead include the ngFor directive on the "div" element that has the bootstrap "form-group" class, we get 4 department dropdownlists. That is one for each department in the array. So it is important we include the ngFor directive on the right element.

The first one, for produce type, fruit or vegetable. In the next column, there's a dependent dropdown list, it will change based on what you selected in the other column. Here it shows a list of vegetables. If I go to next row and select fruit, Column C shows list of fruit. Here's a new workbook where we're going to set up dropdown lists. We've got 2 sheets. One is Data Entry, other one is called Lists. Start a new blank workbook and name the 2 sheets. I typed Produce Type and Item on this sheet, where we're going to create dropdown lists. On the other sheet, I've got 3 lists set up, Produce List with Fruit and Vegetable, and a fruit list, and vegetable list, with 4 vegetables. The produce list is our main list. We have 2 items, and it's important to use a one-word name in this list for each produce type. We'll those names later, and Excel won't allow spaces. Each list will be changed to a formatted Excel table. In the first one, click anywhere in the list. On the Home tab, go to Format as Table, select a format that you like. My list is B2 to B4, and has a header. Click OK, and there's our formatted list. It has a dropdown list in the header cell, to filter or sort, and a corner tab here to change the size of this table. If we add new items, the table automatically expands to include them. We'll do the same thing for the fruit and vegetable list. Click anywhere in this list, Format as Table. Select a color. Again, it has headers. And same for vegetable, green, has header. The next step is name cells with items in each list. Select cells B3 and B4, with produce type names, and to name these 2 cells, click the Name Box. Type a one-word name, Produce, then press Enter, to complete the name. It still shows Table1, but click the arrow to see Produce. Give the fruit list a name, it has to be an exact match for the item in this produce list. Select these 4 cells, click in Name Box, type fruit, press Enter. Upper or lower case doesn't matter, as long as spelling is the same. Now we have a fruit list, do the same here, this will be called Vegetable, press enter. Now we can see all 3 names, Fruit, Produce, and Vegetable, and table names. Next, set up the data entry sheet. I've got headings entered, and I'll create a table from these 2 cells, then add items in rows below. With a heading cell selected, on Home tab, Format as Table, select style you like. Again, my table has headers, OK. It creates a table with one blank row below headings. We'll set up a very simple dropdown in this cell, where we can select a produce types, fruit or vegetable. Go to Data tab, click data validation, on Settings tab, select List. For source, we'll use our produce list. On a Windows computer, press F3 key, to see names you've created. Click Produce, OK, it puts in an = and the name of that range. If you don't have that shortcut, type =produce, click OK. Now we've got a dropdown arrow when this cell is selected, select fruit or vegetable. In this cell, we'll create dropdown that depends on what we selected. If Fruit is selected, it will show fruit list, if we chose Vegetable, we'll only see vegetables. To create this dropdown, on Data tab, click Data Validation. We want a list, and this time, we'll use a formula. Type =. The function we're going to use in this formula is INDIRECT, then click an open bracket. We want to use whatever name has been selected, so type B3, close that bracket. Instead of typing fruit or vegetable, we'll use INDIRECT function to get name that we want to use from cell B3, and create a reference to that list, click OK. It will create a list based on that produce type. Select lemon. Go to next row and type fruit again, it shows fruit list. Change to vegetable, it shows list of vegetables. So this is dependent dropdown list. We create a main dropdown, then a dependent dropdown- items in that list depend on cell we told it to look at. Go to http://www.contextures.com/xlDataVal02.html to get the sample workbook

How to Insert and Use a Radio Button (Option Button) in Excel

08:11
A Radio Button in Excel (also called the Option Button) can be used to select one of the many choices/options. A radio button allows the user to select an option which updates a dashboard or a report. It can also be used to create a survey where one answer per question can be selected. In this video, you will learn how to insert the radio button (option button) in Excel, how to create copies of it, and how to link it to a cell in Excel. Once a radio button is linked to a cell, whenever you make a selection, the linked cell updates to reflect the selection. This linked cell can then be used to update dashboards and reports/charts. Angular bootstrap select list

Working with a select list in Angular Template Driven forms 2. How to have one of the select list option selected by default 3. How to disable select list Let us understand working with a select element in Angular with a simple example. We want to include "Department" select list. For the HTML used in the demo, please refer to my blog using the link below http://csharp-video-tutorials.blogspot.com/2018/01/angular-bootstrap-select-list.html At the moment, we have hard coded the select list options in the HTML. In our next video we will discuss, how to get the select list options from the component class. Notice each option also has a corresponding value. The value is the department id which is what we want to save in the database table when the form is submitted. We will discuss, saving the data to a database table in a later video. At this point, when we select an option, the corresponding option value is included against the "department" property in the Angular auto-generated form model. Also when we click the "Save" button, the "department" property along with the selected option value is logged to the console in browser developer tools. How to have one of the select list option selected by default If we include "selected" attribute on one of the options of the select list, we expect that option to be selected by default when the form initially loads, but when the form reloads, the respective option will not be selected. If you remove the "ngModel" directive from the select list, then the the option gets selected as expected. In Angular, we use "ngModel" directive for two-way data binding. So the moment we put it back in place the "selected" attribute does not work. To make it work include "department" property in the component class and initialise it with one of the option value which you want to have selected by default. In our case, we want the "IT" option to be selected by default. The "IT option value is "3". So, I have initialised "department" property with a value of '3' department = '3' At this point you will have "IT" option selected by default when the form loads. Now, even if we remove the "selected" attribute from the "IT" option, it is still selected by default when the form loads. This is because of the two-way data binding that we get with "ngModel" directive. How to disable a select list : To disable a select element, use the disabled attribute Another important point to keep in mind. By default, disabled form controls are not included in the Angular auto generated form model. Since, the "department" select element is disabled, it will not be included in the Angular generated form model. In our form, we do not want the select element to be disabled, so please remove the disabled attribute. Also, we do not want any option to be selected by default, so remove the "department" property from the component class. In our next video, we will discuss, how to get the select list options from the component class, instead of having them hard-coded in the HTML.

Angularjs filter by multiple properties

11:00
In this video we will discuss how to filter by multiple properties in AngularJS. In the example below, we are using multiple search textboxes. As you type in the "Search name" textbox, only the name property is searched and matching elements are displayed. Similarly, as you type in the "Search city" textbox, only the city property is searched and the matching elements are displayed. When the "exact match" checkbox is checked, an exact match search is performed. var app = angular .module("myModule", []) .controller("myController", function ($scope) { var employees = [ { name: "Ben", gender: "Male", salary: 55000, city: "London" }, { name: "Sara", gender: "Female", salary: 68000, city: "Chennai" }, { name: "Mark", gender: "Male", salary: 57000, city: "London" }, { name: "Pam", gender: "Female", salary: 53000, city: "Chennai" }, { name: "Todd", gender: "Male", salary: 60000, city: "London" }, ]; $scope.employees = employees; }); HtmlPage1.html : [!DOCTYPE html] [html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"] [head] [title][/title] [script src="Scripts/angular.min.js"][/script] [script src="Scripts/Script.js"][/script] [link href="Styles.css" rel="stylesheet" /] [/head] [body ng-app="myModule"] [div ng-controller="myController"] [input type="text" placeholder="Search name" ng-model="searchText.name"/] [input type="text" placeholder="Search city" ng-model="searchText.city"/] [input type="checkbox" ng-model="exactMatch" /] Exact Match [br /][br /] [table] [thead] [tr] [th]Name[/th] [th]Gender[/th] [th]Salary[/th] [th]City[/th] [/tr] [/thead] [tbody] [tr ng-repeat="employee in employees | filter: searchText : exactMatch"] [td] {{ employee.name }} [/td] [td] {{ employee.gender }} [/td] [td] {{ employee.salary }} [/td] [td] {{ employee.city }} [/td] [/tr] [/tbody] [/table] [/div] [/body] [/html] The following example has a single search textbox, and is used to search multiple properties - name and city. Script.js : var app = angular .module("myModule", []) .controller("myController", function ($scope) { var employees = [ { name: "Ben", gender: "Male", salary: 55000, city: "London" }, { name: "Sara", gender: "Female", salary: 68000, city: "Chennai" }, { name: "Mark", gender: "Male", salary: 57000, city: "London" }, { name: "Pam", gender: "Female", salary: 53000, city: "Chennai" }, { name: "Todd", gender: "Male", salary: 60000, city: "London" }, ]; $scope.employees = employees; $scope.search = function (item) { if ($scope.searchText == undefined) { return true; } else { if (item.city.toLowerCase().indexOf($scope.searchText.toLowerCase()) != -1 || item.name.toLowerCase().indexOf($scope.searchText.toLowerCase()) != -1) { return true; } } return false; }; }); HtmlPage1.html : [!DOCTYPE html] [html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"] [head] [title][/title] [script src="Scripts/angular.min.js"][/script] [script src="Scripts/Script.js"][/script] [link href="Styles.css" rel="stylesheet" /] [/head] [body ng-app="myModule"] [div ng-controller="myController"] Search : [input type="text" placeholder="Search city & name" ng-model="searchText" /] [br /][br /] [table] [thead] [tr] [th]Name[/th] [th]Gender[/th] [th]Salary[/th] [th]City[/th] [/tr] [/thead] [tbody] [tr ng-repeat="employee in employees | filter: search"] [td] {{ employee.name }} [/td] [td] {{ employee.gender }} [/td] [td] {{ employee.salary }} [/td] [td] {{ employee.city }} [/td] [/tr] [/tbody] [/table] [/div] [/body] [/html] Link for all dot net and sql server video tutorial playlists https://www.youtube.com/user/kudvenkat/playlists?sort=dd&view=1 Link for slides, code samples and text version of the video http://csharp-video-tutorials.blogspot.com/2015/11/angularjs-filter-by-multiple-properties.html

Sorting data in AngularJS

08:32
angularjs order data angularjs orderby filter example angularjs ng-repeat orderby example angularjs filter orderby date angularjs orderby reverse angularjs orderby ascending angularjs filter orderby descending Sorting data in AngularJS In this video we will discuss how to implement sorting in AngularJS. This is continuation to Part 8. Please watch Part 8 from AngularJS tutorial for beginners before proceeding. To sort the data in Angular 1. Use orderBy filter {{ orderBy_expression | orderBy : expression : reverse}} Example : ng-repeat="employee in employees | orderBy:'salary':false" 2. To sort in ascending order, set reverse to false 3. To sort in descending order, set reverse to true 4. You can also use + and - to sort in ascending and descending order respectively Example : ng-repeat="employee in employees | orderBy:'+salary'" Let us understand sorting data with an example. The dropdownlist shows the columns and the direction we want to sort When a dropdownlist item is selected, the table data should be sorted by the selected column Script.js : The controller function builds the model. Also sortColumn property is added to the $scope object. Notice sortColumn property is initialized to name. This ensures that the data is sorted by name column in ascending order, when the form first loads. var app = angular .module("myModule", []) .controller("myController", function ($scope) { var employees = [ { name: "Ben", dateOfBirth : new Date("November 23, 1980"), gender: "Male", salary: 55000 }, { name: "Sara", dateOfBirth: new Date("May 05, 1970"), gender: "Female", salary: 68000 }, { name: "Mark", dateOfBirth: new Date("August 15, 1974"), gender: "Male", salary: 57000 }, { name: "Pam", dateOfBirth: new Date("October 27, 1979"), gender: "Female", salary: 53000 }, { name: "Todd", dateOfBirth: new Date("December 30, 1983"), gender: "Male", salary: 60000 } ]; $scope.employees = employees; $scope.sortColumn = "name"; }); HtmlPage1.html : The select element, has the list of columns by which the data should be sorted. + and - symbols control the sort direction. When the form initially loads notice that the data is sorted by name column in ascending order, and name option is automatically selected in the select element. Notice the orderBy filter is using the sortColumn property that is attached to the $scope object. When the selection in the select element changes, the sortColumn property of the $scope object will be updated automatically with the selected value, and in turn the updated value is used by the orderBy filter to sort the data. Select values of checkbox group with jquery

12:22
Link for all dot net and sql server video tutorial playlists https://www.youtube.com/user/kudvenkat/playlists?sort=dd&view=1 Link for slides, code samples and text version of the video http://csharp-video-tutorials.blogspot.com/2015/03/select-values-of-checkbox-group-with.html In this video we will discuss, how to select values of checked checkboxes that are in different groups using jQuery. Along the way, we will also discuss how to pass a variable to jquery selector. If you have just one group of checkboxes on your page, to get all the checked checkboxes you can use $('input[type="checkbox"]:checked'). However, if you have more than one checkbox group, then $('input[type="checkbox"]:checked') is going to select all checked checkboxes from both the checkbox groups. If you prefer to get checked checkboxes from a specific checkbox group, depending on which button you have clicked, you can use $('input[name="skills"]:checked') or $('input[name="cities"]:checked'). This will ensure that the checked checkboxes from only the skills or cities checkbox group are selected. Replace < with LESSTHAN symbol and > with GREATERTHAN symbol. At the moment to get the checked checkboxes values, we are using a button click event. You can also use the click event of the checkbox to do this. <html> <head> <title></title> <script src="jquery-1.11.2.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function () { $('input[name="skills"]').click(function () { getSelectedCheckBoxes('skills'); }); $('input[name="cities"]').click(function () { getSelectedCheckBoxes('cities'); }); var getSelectedCheckBoxes = function (groupName) { var result = $('input[name="' + groupName + '"]:checked'); if (result.length > 0) { var resultString = result.length + " checkboxe(s) checked<br/>"; result.each(function () { resultString += $(this).val() + "<br/>"; }); $('#div' + groupName).html(resultString); } else { $('#div' + groupName).html("No checkbox checked"); } }; }); </script> </head> <body style="font-family:Arial"> Skills : <input type="checkbox" name="skills" value="JavaScript" />JavaScript <input type="checkbox" name="skills" value="jQuery" />jQuery <input type="checkbox" name="skills" value="C#" />C# <input type="checkbox" name="skills" value="VB" />VB <br /><br /> Preferred Cities : <input type="checkbox" name="cities" value="New York" />New York <input type="checkbox" name="cities" value="New Delhi" />New Delhi <input type="checkbox" name="cities" value="London" />London <br /><br /> Selected Skills:<br /> <div id="divskills"></div> <br /> Selected Cities:<br /> <div id="divcities"></div> </body> </html>
