How to create a high performance culture | Andrew Sillitoe | TEDxRoyalTunbridgeWells
Business Psychologist Andrew Sillitoe explores why some people rise to the top 20% in their field starting with research into why young people stay engaged with sport throughout their teens. Engaging others to operate at their full potential may be less of a mystery than we think – listen to Andrew’s story about what he learnt on the road playing street hockey and what it takes to create a high performance culture. All TEDxRoyalTunbridgeWells videos recorded by Graham Hobbs, Clockhouse Productions. http://www.clockhouse.co.uk/ When Andrew Sillitoe was 9 his mum bought him a street hockey stick. An unusual gift for an English boy living in the South East of England, but in that moment, his life would never be the same. He is now one of the most recognisable names in the inline hockey scene, both as a player and coach. Andrew studied an MSc in Organisational Psychology from Birkbeck University. He wrote his first book Managing the Mist How to develop winning mind-sets and create high performing teams in 2013. Andrew helps organisations achieve commercial success by creating teams with purpose. He passionately believes that a team with purpose is more innovative, diverse and agile to any organisation. He lives in Royal Tunbridge Wells with his wife Lucie and their two daughters Izzie and Freya. Module 10: Measuring Performance - ASU's W. P. Carey School
Part 10 of 12 Supply chains are tasked with being effective, efficient, and adaptable. While the best companies on earth claim to have strong supply chains, it is only via performance measurement that managers and executives can truly prove the strength of their supply chains. Also, since continuous improvement is a business imperative, managers are constantly being asked to demonstrate positive outcomes and consistent improvement quantitatively. This module introduces the multi-layered world of performance measurement and its relationship to world-class supply chain management. This is the 10th installment in Arizona State University's twelve-part introduction to supply chain management video series developed by Eddie Davila, Jeff Hough, Randy Cates, Dawn Feldman, Dan Ichikawa, Ian Schmoel, and Matt Hardy. ASU, the W. P. Carey School of Business, and the Supply Chain Management Department are proud and happy to share this video series with supply chain management departments, supply chain instructors, career specialists in high schools and universities, as well as industry leaders in an effort to inspire a new generation of supply chain management professionals across the country and around the world. For more information, visit W. P. Carey's SCM Web site at http://wpcarey.asu.edu/scm or send an e-mail to [email protected]

Stop Managing, Start Leading | Hamza Khan | TEDxRyersonU
According to Hamza, managing millennials and knowledge workers the way we used to manage traditional factory workers can be disastrous. Speaking through his own experience of being managed and alternatively as a manager, Hamza makes the case that millennials must be lead, instead of managed and given autonomy to complete their tasks, so that they may grow and reach their full potential. If you ask Hamza Khan about his role as a manager, he’ll tell you his approach to managing is to avoid it altogether. Before his success as an award-winning digital marketer and entrepreneur, Hamza was a student struggling to find a practical outlet for his creativity while pursuing a degree in business and political science at the University of Toronto Scarborough. In his third-year of university, Hamza switched his major and received a Bachelor of Arts to facilitate a future career in creative multimedia and storytelling. Since graduating, he has worked as a graphic designer and marketer, and teaches social media strategy at Seneca College. He is also credited with making Ryerson University Canada’s leading university in online student engagement. Effective Leadership - Setting Expectations for Powerful Performance
Effective Leadership - Setting Expectations for Powerful Performance There is a lot of training and many books written on effective leadership. Yet effective leadership comes down to just a handful of behaviors. One effective leadership practice is to set clear expectations. Employees are not you and they don’t know what you want. Effective leadership means telling employees what you expect and asking employees what they expect. Don’t guess why your employees joined your organization and what will make them stay, ask. Effective leadership requires knowing your employees’ need, likes, and dislikes, and accommodating those needs when it’s possible. Effective leadership also requires telling employees when you can’t meet their needs and discussing why. Lastly, effective leadership requires moving ineffective employees either to more appropriate roles or out of the organization. But you can’t do any of these things without knowing employees and setting clear expectations. Effective leadership requires asking the right questions so you know why your employees joined your organization and what employees need to stay and do their best work. If you want to engage and retain your best employees follow these effective leadership practices and your employees will be loyal to both you and the organization.
