04:45
Today let's talk about the product life cycle. The product life cycle dives into the 4 stages of a product or product line. By understanding in which stage your products are in you can accordingly gain the highest potential profits and apply the correct marketing and business strategy. For this example I'll be using the iPod as an example as this is a product that was quite popular in its time. The cost for creating a product are quite high and the company needs to still find out how to scale the product for a large amount of quantity. As a result the starting price of the product is very high as well. Usually if the product is still in its own niche new market. The potential buyers are usually limited to the inovators in the market or loyal fans of the brand that were already familiar with their products before. In this stage your first customers and your marketing are essential if you want to reach the next step of the product cycle. The second step of the cycle you want to be in the growth stage. In the growth stage the company is faced with a significant amount of growth as they found out how to use economies of scale. Which means by creating the product in bulk you are making the process more efficient and are able to lower the cost as a result. In this stage it's recommended to invest in marketing and promotional channels and tools. This is the companies big moment to make as much profit as possible. Before we reach the 3rd stage. Which is maturity at this point the largest group of the potential buyers are reached. At that time you start to notice that a lot bundles and value offerings are brought into the market, limited editions ect. At this point there are usually already strong alternatives and competitors on the market that offer the same value. In terms of marketing it's important to understand that is also a important moment to plan and execute your strategy to maintain and keep your target audience informed. By applying the right marketing and business strategies your product line might gain an additional resurgence the in the market. It might also lead to a second growth period in case you reach an new not yet target audience. The final stage is the decline stage, at that stage the significant target audience starts the become smaller as most people that would actually buy the product have already bought the product, bought an alternative brand or are already looking for a new solution to the problem that the product would have solved. Furthermore at this stage the company should consider completely streamlining the product line to squeeze the final profit margins and investing in the product that would replace the current product. In the case of the ipod it would be to create an iphone which surpasses the product in functionality while offering the same value.

Product Life Cycle Theory (HINDI)

19:11
Description: Certain issues remain unaddressed by the H-O theory such as, what happens to the international trade structure if the good's factor intensity changes? Product Life Cycle Hypothesis addresses this question. According to the theory a good goes through various stages in its life cycle. Each stage has different circumstance for the business about this product. These stages are as under: Stage I: Introductory stage in which the good gets invented and its commercial production begins. In the development of the product significant amount of expenditure is incurred on the research and development activities and then on its marketing as the good is new and people are unaware of it and its qualities. Production cost is inevitably high as the scale of production cannot be huge in the beginning as it has yet to capture consumers' attention. In this stage output is roughly equal to the domestic demand. then comes stage II Stage II: Product attains maturity In this stage. Market for it expands and so the profit. Therefore output increases to surpass domestic consumption. The availability of surplus opens the scope for export. Output reaches the peak before beginning to decline. Its production by other firms in other countries also begins as the technology by this time becomes known to others. The competition results in shrinkage of the foreign market share of the original company that invented the product. Stage III: In this stage product gets standardized. Its domestic output declines below the level of domestic consumption making its import a better option than to produce it. The goo is now labour intensive as against R&D (capital) intensive. this shift of factor intensity results in shifting the production from R&D abundant country to the the labour abundant countries. Cycle thus gets completed. #YOUCANLEARNECONOMICS #ECONOMICS Subscribe me @ http://youtube.com/c/EZClassesfaghsa Like me on Facebook @ https://www.facebook.com/faghsa/ Follow me on Twitter @ https://twitter.com/?lang=en

Product Life Cycle | जानें क्या है Product की Life Cycle The Product Life Cycle. A new product progresses through a sequence of stages from introduction to growth, maturity, and decline. This sequence is known as the product life cycle and is associated with changes in the marketing situation, thus impacting the marketing strategy and the marketing mix. *Introduction Stage: In the introduction stage, the firm seeks to build product awareness and develop a market for the product. The impact on the marketing mix is as follows: Product branding and quality level is established, and intellectual property protection such as patents and trademarks are obtained. Pricing may be low penetration pricing to build market share rapidly, or high skim pricing to recover development costs. Distribution is selective until consumers show acceptance of the product. Promotion is aimed at innovators and early adopters. Marketing communications seeks to build product awareness and to educate potential consumers about the product.

Product Life Cycle

02:36
Just as people go through infancy, childhood, adulthood and old age, the products and brands also goes through the same. In simple terms the PLC describes the stages through which the products passes. As the product moves through the stages of the lifecycle, the 4P’S changes accordingly. Introduction Stage This is the 1st stage of PLC. During this phase, the product is newly launched in the market due to this there will be more advertising and promotional activities in order to raise awareness among the customers. The price of the product can either be high in order to recover the cost quickly or it can be low to encourage adoption from the customers. It differs from company to company on how they set the price. The revenue is mostly negative at this stage as the costs are high. Growth Stage In this stage the revenue starts to flow in and the customers are more aware about the product in the market. The advertisement and promotional cost are lower as compared to the introduction stage. Due to this the pricing strategy now tends to be competitive pricing. Some more variants of the product can be made available in the market. Maturity Stage At this stage the pace of the revenue growth slows down. There will be little amount of profit that is generated by the product. The advertising and promotion focuses on reminding the customers about our product in the market. The company focuses on new product, changes in sizes, flavor change, etc. so that the customer purchase the product. Promotion is done to differentiate the product from the competition. Decline stage At this stage the product does not give the expected returns to the company. The sales figure goes down. The company starts to offer free products at lower price in order to finish the stocks. And finally the product is withdrawn from the market. Promotional expenses will be minimal. Therefore there are 4 stages of PLC. There is no time limit of each stage and it depends upon many factors like demand of the customers, promotions, price, etc. If you have any questions feel free to ask me. Product Life Cycle | Product Cycle Factors | ENGINEERING STUDY MATERIALS

Product Life Cycle | Product Cycle Factors | ENGINEERING STUDY MATERIALS Product life-cycle management (PLM) is the succession of strategies by business management as a product goes through its life-cycle. The conditions in which a product is sold (advertising, saturation) changes over time and must be managed as it moves through its succession of stages. Product life cycle The concept of product life cycle (PLC) concerns the life of a product in the market with respect to business/commercial costs and sales measures. The product life cycle proceeds through multiple phases, involves many professional disciplines, and requires many skills, tools and processes. PLC management makes the following three assumptions:[citation needed] Products have a limited life and thus every product has a life cycle. Product sales pass through distinct stages, each posing different challenges, opportunities, and problems to the seller. Products require different marketing, financing, manufacturing, purchasing, and human resource strategies in each life cycle stage. Once the product is designed and put into the market, the offering should be managed efficiently for the buyers to get value from it. Before entering into any market complete analysis is carried out by the industry for both external and internal factors including the laws and regulations, environment, economics, cultural values and market needs. From the business perspective, as a good business, the product needs to be sold before it finishes its life. In terms of profitability, expiry may jolt the overall profitability of the business therefore there are few strategies, which are practiced to ensure that the product is sold within the defined period of maturity. Extending the product life cycle Extending the product life cycle by improving sales, this can be done through Advertising: Its purpose is to get additional audience and potential customers. Exploring and expanding to new markets: By conducting market research and offering the product (or some adapted form of it) to new markets, it is possible to get more customers. Price reduction: Many customers are attracted by price cuts and discount tags. Adding new features: Adding value to the product to enhance its usability or to attract the attention of a wider customer base. Packaging: New, attractive, useful or eco-friendly packaging influence the target customers. Changing customer consumption habits: Promoting new trends of consumption can increase the number of customers. Special promotions: Raising interest by offering Jackpot and other offers. Heightening interest: Many of the following things attract many customers who match certain profiles: Eco-friendly production processes, good work conditions, funding the efforts of non-profit organizations (cancer cure, anti-war efforts, refugees, GLTBI, environment and animal protection, etc.) and the like. Something important to notice is that all these techniques rely on advertising to become known. Advertising needs the others to target other potential customers and not the same over and over again. Although all products don't go through the product life cycle the same, the model does provide a general framework for how businesses should adapt their marketing mix to the stage the product occupies in the product life cycle. In the third video of a four part series, we'll explore how businesses can adapt their marketing mix to accommodate products that occupy the maturity stage of the product life cycle.
