What is a Message Queue and Where is it used?

09:59
Messaging Queues are widely use in asynchronous systems. Message processing in an asynchronous fashion allows the client to relieve itself from waiting for a task to complete and, hence, can do other jobs during that time. It also allows a server to process it's jobs in the order it wants to. Messaging Queues provide useful features such as persistence, routing and task management. We will be discussing the benefits of a message queue in future videos. A system having a message queue can move to higher level requirements while abstracting implementation details of message delivery and event handling to the messaging queue. The 'queue' is just a name for this data structure. In practice, it could be storing messages using any policy. Some examples of message queues are Kafka and RabbitMQ. They are widely used for various purposes such as command query request segregation (CQRS) and event sourcing. WebSphere Message Broker Online Training

20:39
Enroll Live Training : https://bit.ly/2CV2dJM WebSphere Message Broker Online Training is an intermediary program module which translates a message from the formal messaging protocol of the sender to the formal messaging protocol of the receiver. Message brokers are elements in telecommunication networks where programs communicate by exchanging formally defined messages. Message brokers are a building block of message oriented middleware. The purpose of a broker is to take incoming messages from applications and perform some action on them. A WebSphere Message Broker Admin Online Training is an architectural pattern for message validation, message transformation that applications should have of each other in order to be able to exchange messages effectively implementing decoupling. Information about potential future products may not be incorporated into any contract. In a telecommunication network where programs communicate by exchanging formally-defined messages that is, through the act of messaging, a message broker is an intermediary program that translates a message from the formal messaging protocol of the sender to the formal messaging protocol of the receiver. WebSphere Message Broker Admin Online Training programs are sometimes known as middleware. Message brokers enable e.g. operations people to monitor all integrations in one place. Also, if a data format changes it can be trivial to determine which integrations are affected by the change. WebSphere Message Broker Admin Online Training is also able to deal with messaging outside the limitations of JMS. Career for message broker jobs is abundantly available. Database ANTI-pattern: Don't use it like a MQ!

08:27
Databases are often used to store various types of information, but one case where it becomes an a problem is when being used as a message broker. The database is rarely designed to deal with messaging features, and hence is a poor substitute of a specialized message queue. When designing a system, this pattern is considered an anti pattern. Here are possible drawbacks: 1) Polling intervals have to be set correctly. Too long makes the system is inefficient. Too short makes the database undergo heavy read load. 2) Read and write operation heavy DB. Usually, they are good at one of the two. 3) Manual delete procedures to be written to remove read messages. 4) Scaling is difficult conceptually and physically. Disadvantages of a Message Queue: 1) Adds more moving parts to the system. 2) Cost of setting up the MQ along with training is large. 3) Maybe be overkill for a small service. In a system design interview, it is important to be able to reason why or why not a system needs a message queue. These reasons allow us to argue on the merits and demerits of the two approaches. However, there are blogs on why Databases are perfectly fine as message queues too. A deep understanding of the pros and cons helps evaluate how effective they would be for a given scenario. In general, for a small application, databases are fine as they bring no additional moving part to the system. For complex message sending requirements, it is useful to have an abstraction such as a message queue handle message delivery for us. Kafka as a Message Queue: can you do it, and should you do it? by Adam Warski

47:44
Using Kafka's offset commit mechanism we can implement a message processing system with at-least-once delivery guarantees. However, we can only acknowledge processing of all messages up to a given point (offset). That’s very often enough, but not always. Sometimes we need selective, out-of-order message acknowledgments, like in a “traditional” message queue. If a message is not acknowledged for a given period of time, it should be re-delivered. Can this be implemented on top of Kafka? Sure! (By the way: this is similar to how Amazon’s SQS works.) In the talk I’ll describe the architecture and implementation of a message queue built on Kafka: kmq. We’ll go through two crucial components: the queue client and the message redelivery tracker. There will be some live coding, some slides, and a couple of demos. We’ll also look at the performance (which is surprisingly good) & latency, as well as possible problems that using such an approach can cause, such as “error-flooding”. Kmq is open-source and available at https://github.com/softwaremill/kmq. # Adam Warski I am one of the co-founders of SoftwareMill, where I code mainly using Scala and other interesting technologies. I am involved in open-source projects, such as Macwire, Supler, ElasticMQ and others. I have been a speaker at major conferences, such as JavaOne, Devoxx and ScalaDays. Apart from writing closed- and open-source software, in my free time I try to read the Internet on various (functional) programming-related subjects, any ideas or insights usually end up on my blog: http://www.warski.org/blog

Spring Boot with Redis as Message Broker | Redis Series PART1 | Simple Programming

08:02
Welcome to Simple Programming # Spring Boot with Redis as Message Broker Redis is an open source in-memory data structure store, used as a database, cache and message broker It supports data structures such as strings, hashes, lists, sets, sorted sets, etc For this example, we will create a simple spring boot project and add the spring boot starter data Redis and redis-client jedis dependencies # Prerequisites Install Redis and Start Redis Server(https://redis.io/download) # POM.xml You need to add this Redis client Jedis dependency or else your app might result in an error and won’t start. This is because this a version mismatch between spring boot starter packs and the Redis itself # Jedis connection factory Spring Data Redis integrates with Lettuce and Jedis, two popular open-source Java libraries for Redis. These two provide an improved connection property than that redis connection factory is officially supported You don’t have to mention the host and port details here, reds automatically registers the app in it, if they are in the same host. but for production you need to configure them using properties. Also, spring boot provides you with auto configuration properties for your redis host and port details # RedisTemplate Is the central class of the Redis module, due to its rich feature set. The template offers a high-level abstraction for Redis interactions.  # StringRedisTemplate You can also use StringRedisTemplate, StringRedisTemplate is a convenient one-stop solution for intensive String operations Implement the Message Listener and map the receiver class with the topic TaskExecutor - for asynchronous method execution, with a fixed thread pool of 4. Sender Class - auto wires the redis template and the channel topic. Uses the convertAndSend() to send the message to the topic Receiver Class - Implements the Message Listener, and will receive the message from the topic in the Message Object # Redis Use Cases Use Redis, 1. If you want just send a message and forget about the system which is going to receive all the messages that you produce. 2. messages are delivered instantly to consumers. reds is very fast, as it is an in-memory data structure 3. If you don’t care about data loss, because, if the server goes down, you would loose your data. but for this redis has a solution. you can form a cluster, and you can use a redis sentinel to prevent data loss if you loose a node 4. If you don't want your system to hold the message that has been sent (this is a major difference between kafka and reds, kafka zookeeper has a copy of ur messages every after consumed by the consumer) 5. If the amount of data that is gonna be dealt is not huge.

RabbitMQ: An Open Source Messaging Broker That Just Works

55:22
Google Tech Talks September 25, 2008 ABSTRACT RabbitMQ implements AMQP, the emerging standard internet protocol for business messaging. It also support numerous bridges to other messaging and internet protocols so is highly adaptable to many use cases. The core server is implemented in Erlang which is well known for delivering a highly scalable and stable environment for applications that involve messaging. When JP Morgan Chase introduced AMQP, Erlang seemed an obvious implementation choice. This talk will explain the rationale of this decision in detail and describe the technology and architecture of the server. Today RabbitMQ is used in solutions across multiple platforms and client languages such as Java, C#/.NET, Ruby, Python and Erlang. Come to this talk if you want to hear about: -Why did we choose Erlang? -How is RabbitMQ implemented? -Who uses RabbitMQ and why? -What will future designs do differently based on experiences in building and maintaining RabbitMQ? -How does the AMQP wire protocol compare to Protocol Buffers and RPC mechanisms in terms of latency, efficiency and scalability? -How does AMQP compare to XMPP? -How does the XMPP over AMQP bridge work and how are we using it for federated, open microblogging? Using an embedded ActiveMQ Message broker (for easier setup & testing) | Preview | Microservices

02:09
Check out https://www.marcobehler.com for more modern Java training! When talking about microservices, you also have to talk about asynchronous messaging: a popular way of letting different (micro-) services talk to each other. While you are developing your microservices you don't necessarily already want to have to install a full blown messaging infrastructure. That's where embedding a message broker, like ActiveMQ, comes in. In this episode you'll learn how to set it up and how to use it, so you don't have to worry about complex installations and can purely focus on your code.

WebSphere Message Broker V8 .NET integration

04:57
This screencast demonstrates how quick and easy it is to create a message flow that invokes an existing .NET assembly on the Windows platform, using WebSphere Message Broker version 8. With the easy-to-use tools provided, this can be completed in less than 5 minutes! (of course, a text-to-speech example like this is unlikely to be of practical use in an integration solution - but this simple demo shows just how easy it can be to invoke a .NET assembly that is already available!)
