Psychologists have discovered that there are essentially 2 types of happiness, Extrinsic and Intrinsic. Extrinsic, focuses on money/material wealth, image and status. Happiness derived from these external sources result in a short-lived dopamine spurt and a never-ending state of wanting more. Intrinsic happiness on the other hand is derived from following a passion, personal growth, making the world a better place or loving relationships with family and friends. These are things that money can’t buy, and result in a long lasting joy from within. For more interesting weekly videos PLEASE SUBSCRIBE :) Animation by http://www.kramgallery.com/

Wait, money buys happiness? A lot of people would disagree with this claim. If you can relate, I want to challenge your belief system. I believe that money is a tool, not a goal. If your goal in life is always to have more money, you will never be satisfied. There will always be an urge to constantly chase money, which will only cause unnecessary stress and dissatisfaction. Conversely, if you view money as a tool to achieve what really matters in your life, you will start to focus on the things that bring you the utmost satisfaction. This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. In his TEDx talk Kilian will explain the relation between money and happiness. Many people ask themselves the question: does money make me happy? In this talk you will find that this question is not one-dimensional. Some people become very happy with money, others don't. Kilian refers to his research at one of the major banks in the world, where he studied this relationship. He worked and lived in Monaco among the richest people in the world and found out why people react differently to money and that making people happy with money is not always possible. Dr. Kilian W. Wawoe (1972) started his career as HR trainee at ABN-AMRO Bank, and held different HR jobs around the world. Besides his daily job, Kilian researched the relationship between money, happiness and performance at his bank in India, Brazil, USA, the Netherlands and Romania. The crisis of 2008 brought him at a crossroad. His thesis showed that bonuses lead not only to wrong behavior, it also does not make employees happy! Kilian had to choose: publishing his PhD or stay at the bank. He decided to leave the bank. About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. We make money because we think that with more money, we can be confident, be respected and be happy. But do we need money to be happy? The real truth no one tells us about making money is that beyond a point, more money can decrease the level of happiness. According to the research conducted by the Princeton University, that happiness and income are correlated, but only up to $75,000.The emotional well-being of a person rises as annual income increases up to about $75,000, but not further than that. This makes sense because people who make significantly less than $75,000 spend a lot of their time worrying about basic necessities like having enough food to eat and covering the rent. Money can pretty easily alleviate those kinds of stress. So boosting one's income up to around $75,000 can help. But as wealth rises, happiness level remains the same. In fact, happiness might tend to decrease. Part of the diminishing-return effect can be explained by adaptations — as wealth rises, people adjust or get used to their new and better circumstances. This increases their expectations and aspirations. For example, a newly rich person moving to an upscale neighborhood will make the acquaintance of other people who seem even wealthier, and that can diminish happiness. He may be driven to increase earnings by comparison to others or a desire for material gains. This video also answers one of the biggest questions is how to allocate our money? the truth is, often when we buy that new pair of shoes or new car, we regret our purchases because we feel we may have made the wrong choice, or that we have spent too extravagantly, or something better will be available in the future. This feeling is called “buyer’s remorse. The reason for this is that when we buy objects they are easily interchangeable with other objects. We get a brand new car, but there’s a new model out within the next 6 months. Material things tend to eventually become out-dated or broken. We get an initial boost in mood when we first buy them, but it quickly dies off. “One of the enemies of happiness is adaptation,” says Dr. Thomas Gilovich, a psychology professor at Cornell University who has been studying the question of money and happiness for over two decades. Gilovich and other researchers have found that experiences—as fleeting as they may be—deliver more-lasting happiness than things. The investment industry has told us for decades what should make us happy. Why isn't it working? The complexity of the current approach creates road blocks to happiness. How do we tear these down? The answer begins by asking a different question. Turn the existing model on its head and develop solutions that are designed to empower us. After close to 25 years of investment and advisory experience, decades of observations on the difference between clients who are truly "enjoying the journey" and those who are not and years of exploring the work of experts in fields outside of finance I think the answer lies in the core overlapping elements of each of these data sets. Susan is an accomplished executive with over 20 years of experience in financial services and a proven record of success navigating and advancing change. Her experience includes both public and private companies, high growth and turn-around situations. Strong leadership skills have helped her succeed in promoting a forward thinking vision. “Battle tested” insights from years as a portfolio manager of institutional and endowment assets have been essential ingredients in the development of the highly successful, process driven approach utilized in the management of assets for both domestic and international clients. Her hands on investment experience spans asset classes from emerging markets to structured fixed income to currencies to U.S. equities and has a breadth that is unique in this industry. Clients appreciate her ability to leverage that experience in a way that speaks directly to them. Known for high integrity, critical thinking and an ability to lead. Susan is a champion of simplicity and purpose as roads to success. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Can money and power ever make us happy? How much is enough? Our constant desire for more is part of our human nature. Some call it a useful dowry of evolution, others a fault in the human genetic make-up: The old mortal sin Greed seems to be more ubiquitous than ever. Why can't people ever get enough, where is this self-indulgence leading - and are there any ways out of this vicious circle of gratification? "People like to have a lot of stuff because it makes them the feeling of living forever," says American social psychologist Sheldon Solomon, who believes today's materialism and consumerism will have disastrous consequences. Anyone who fails to satisfy his or her desires in this age of the Ego is deemed a loser. But with more than 7 billion people on the Earth, the ramifications of this excessive consumption of resources are already clear. Isn’t the deplorable state of our planet proof enough that "The Greed Program," which has made us crave possessions, status and power, is coming to an end? Or is the frenzied search for more and more still an indispensable part of our nature? We set off to look for the essence of greed. And we tell the stories of people who - whether as perpetrators or victims or even just as willing consumers - have become accomplices in a sea change in values. There are thousands of tips and psychological techniques to help you feel happy. But what if our own body had a say in the matter? Our brain experiences pleasure by simply anticipating the fun event. - For every right decision, our brain rewards itself with a dose of neurotransmitters that calm the limbic system and help us once again see the world in a better light. - Advisable not to keep your problems pent up. Whenever you talk about them, your brain triggers the production of serotonin and even manages to find some positive sides to the situation. - To us, humans, social interaction is important. Various forms of physical support, especially touch and embraces, can speed up a person’s recovery from an illness. - For the brain, acquiring new knowledge means permanent adaptation to a changing environment. Using this process, our brain develops, rewarding its own attempts to absorb and process new information with dopamine, the hormone of joy. - Physical activity is stress for the body. As soon as the stress ends, your body gets a reward: a dose of endorphins, released by the pituitary gland. - While we sleep in the dark, our body secretes the hormone melatonin. This hormone slows down all processes in the body, helping it to recover and increasing the level of serotonin in the hypothalamus. - When we say a person, or even fate, for something, we focus ourselves on the positive aspects of life. Why You Make Sense of the Middle Class - Grant Cardone—The media covers rich people or poverty, but they skip over everyone in the middle. The middle class is being squeezed because wages are stagnant and costs are rising. It's easier to go up or down than stay in the middle. This is why you should never make sense of staying in the middle class. The middle-class concept is failing millions of people because it is based on myths and formulas that worked for our parents but will no longer prove successful today! http://www.10xgrowthcon.com ---- ►Where to follow and listen to Uncle G: Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/grantcardone Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/grantcardonefan SnapChat: https://www.snapchat.com/add/grantcardone. Does money make you happy? Well, what sort of question is that...sure money can buy happiness & and we need a certain amount of money to live, but can it really buy happiness. My opinion is, we at least need a bit of money to have a roof over our heads and a bit of food etc - but does all this currency, money etc bring us happiness. Now, obviously it is none of my business how much money you make etc i just wanted to share with you some thoughts and my ideas on money happiness. I would also like to share a few money tips to maybe make you think outside the box a bit and look at money from a different view. I feel that when we are young, like for example in school there isn't really any help on how to handle money or money skills that are being taught. I think it would be so beneficial for so many people to at least be taught the basic skills of earning and handling money - in my opinion that would really shape the world to be better with money. From a young age this would be so beneficial! And of course as we get older we don't necessarily know how to handle money properly, we are just more mature and sort of "figure it out" But i want to aim to change that and bring some really good money skills video's to the table and improve people's live that way too. For me even if i had a trillion dollars - that won't me make happy. I feel that in my life i separate money and happiness into two different areas and this is really helping me. I don't want to base my life on money and i want to learn the skills to look after it properly and have as much as i can! But like i said i practice each day the difference between the two. Money can cause alot of problems and really affect people in many different ways, so that's why one thing i feel is that we need more skills and training on "money"! Watch the rest of the video to find out more of my thoughts on the question "does money make you happy". Thanks for watching today, i really appreciate it! :). I imagined myself having everything I want materially speaking. I could clearly feel that it wouldn't make me happier than I am now. Why ? Because what actually would make me happier is stuff money can't really buy : health, friends, contribution, compassion, creativity, confidence, an abundant mindset. These are the things I'd like to have, money wouldn't change much to that. I think money isn't bad at all. It's just not going to make me happier. I also think that it's important not to have limiting beliefs about money, because money can unlock other things in life, like more freetime and more freedom to move, if done well. I think we're more likely to attract money in our lives by realizing that it won't make us happier and also that it should be normal to not be financially limited. A nice synchronicity while tiping this ! The song I'm listening to just said : "I can't help the poor if I stay poor myself" haha. #moneydoesntbuyhappiness#moneyisnteverything#moneyisnormal -------------------------------------------------------------------------- ► Subscribe to my channel here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCRxxuDVS0-ljiD6iojOSJRA?sub_confirmation=1 -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Follow Me Online Here: https://www.instagram.com/tourneurlouis/ https://twitter.com/louis_tourneur

Many people on the internet know that money does not provide us with happiness, but many people don’t realize what exactly money does provide us. I think the common things people think money can provide for us is happiness, women, freedom, and self-esteem. And people will lie to you, and say that you need money in order to sell you something. But the truth is, that you don’t need money to achieve a lot of things in life. Like I said in the video, I am someone who has spent the past 2 years travelling the world, while making money online. At first, I was not making a lot of money, only $40,000 dollars per year. Even though I only made $40k per year, I still was very happy, I had success with women, and I had freedom. I think the reason why people tell themselves that money is the answer to all of this, is because it’s a very easy excuse as to why they should not take action. It’s easier to just say “I need money to have confidence” instead of actually sitting down and working on themselves. But don’t get me wrong, I am not saying at all that money is bad, I want money within my own life. I want to provide for my family and provide stability for my self. But I know and understand what money can provide me, and what it cannot provide me, and that is the main point of this video. If you enjoyed this video, please be sure to subscribe!

Maybe the most important video of the 20mins series... An introduction is presented on what do we mean by Self, how it is built, what does contain (memories, information, objects etc.). Then the size of this Self (indicator) is introduces similar to how my book Self-expansion presents it. The increase of the Self leads to happiness. And the money is also represented in our Self. AND NOW WE CONNECT THEM!!! For money you can buy extra Self-size (like in McDonalds: extra size menu), meaning that you can make yourself happier. We try the opposite direction also: we can sell parts of our Self for money. AND THIS IS WHAT WE CALL: WORK. Of course the work for a white collar differs from the physical workers', and that of the artists'. Happy Holidays!

What’s more likely to make you happy? A new car, or a trip of a lifetime? In this clip, inspired by a recent twenty-year study on whether possessions or experiences have a more lasting impact, David shares his experience of what for him has produced the most profound feelings of well-being. Travelling, new adventures, sharing time with friends and loved ones, have all provided a set of memories that he feels will last him a lifetime, and to which he can add at anytime.
