Analysis Services - 04 Cube Creation

21:06
So we have created our logical view of our data it's now time to create our cube...or is it? Can I create a Cube So Soon? The Microsoft textbook response is you can tackle Cube creation head on once you have established your Data Source and Data Source View. Yet there is something quite vital we are missing from our current developments which are dimensions. Dimensions (which we will get to shortly via several videos) are the text-based values you are going to want to place next to your Cube aggregations. E.g. If you have total sales in your Cube you probably will want to present that with perhaps a region or customer? Well the Cube Wizard handles creating these dimensions for you. Albeit not to the degree you will wish. You will soon find that the wizard is a good starting point but will lack the finesse you will be needing to apply to make a fully functional cube. But for the newbie coming to SSAS for the first time this is quite a sense of achievement and rightly so, you have traversed OLTP to OLAP using ETL in SSIS to reach SSAS. Boy I have just reliased how much I.T. relies on acronyms :)

how to connect DatabaseEngine,Reporting,Integrating and Analysis Services in SQLSERVER 2008R2?? Hi , Today I am going to show you how to connect with sqlserver 2008 r2 and how to manage sqlserver 2008r2? In previous video we have seen how to install 2008r2.. now we will see how to connect and manage... see carefully guys... 1)first open ssms(sqlserver management studio) then first time users ,should give servername ,username,password.. next important thing is here , ssms provides two types of authentications 1)windows authentiction:it automatically takes out system username and password and connect 2) sqlserver authentication:we have to provide username :sa(default) and password:123(at time of installation we have given) I will show how to connect ssms using windows authentication first.. now i connected with ssms using windows authentication next I am going to disconnect ssms and connect with sqlserver authentication.. we connected ssms sucessfully sqlserver authentication. at the time of installation as shown in previous video ,I had shown u how to enable ssrs, ssas, ssis features.. so now we can connect reporting, intigration, analyses services... i think u got an idea how to connect 1)database engine 2)reporting services 3) intigration services 4)analysis services... next video , I am going to show how create database, tables, views, stored procedures,triggers,functions..... thank u guys... please subscribe and like friends... https://www.youtube.com/user/prasadamudalapalli

Introduction to Data Mining in SQL Server Analysis Services

01:27:07
Data mining is one of the key hidden gems inside of Analysis Services but has traditionally had a steep learning curve. In this session, you'll learn how to create a data mining model to predict who is the best customer for you and learn how to use other algorithms to spend your marketing model wisely. You'll also see how to use Time Series analysis for budget and forecast prediction. Finally, you'll learn how to integrate data mining into your application through SSIS or custom coding.

How to install named instance in Microsoft Sql Server 2008

07:20
This video shows how to install named instance in Microsoft SQL server 2008. An installation of SQL Server consists of one or more separate instances. An instance, whether default or named, has its own set of program and data files, as well as a set of common files shared between all instances of SQL Server on the computer. For an instance of SQL Server that includes the Database Engine, Analysis Services, and Reporting Services, each component has a full set of data and executable files, and common files shared by all components. To isolate install locations for each component, unique instance IDs are generated for each component within a given instance of SQL Server.

Analysis Services - 05 Dimension Fundamentals

15:16
After building our first Cube it becomes clear that the wizard although useful in creating quite a lot of the mundane/repetitive configurations, is let face it a little too basic for our tastes. For example the dimensions were not fleshed out, I couldnt for example select a product name or customer name, only the ID values. Which lets face it is useless when presenting this to a manager. So what we need to do is create/alter our Dimensions. What is a Dimension ? Well, if you havent guessed already that Dimension objects are the areas where your text-based information such as product names, customers names etc are placed. Why call it a Dimension? Well the whole purpose of a cube is to identify aggregated values grouped by commonality such as year by customer, or region by product etc... The grouping "buckets" (not a reserved word but what I call them) are the placeholders to store these aggregated values. By using one or more of these they mark a form of co-ordinate to pick a specific value. E.g. I want to see total sales by year by product by region. That example uses 3 Dimension objects Date, Product & Region. If you are still not sure what I mean please watch the Business Intelligence 101 video prior to continuing on. This video will tell you the basics of Dimension modelling but be warned, there is significant work to be done here it is not as clear cut as it first seems. If you want to be good at Cubes you need to be amazing at Dimension creation!

www.dorossweb.com Apprendre SQL ----------------------- Microsoft SQL Server Microsoft SQL Server is a relational database management system developed by Microsoft. As a database, it is a software product whose primary function is to store and retrieve data as requested by other software applications, be it those on the same computer or those running on another computer across a network (including the Internet). There are at least a dozen different editions of Microsoft SQL Server aimed at different audiences and for different workloads (ranging from small applications that store and retrieve data on the same computer, to millions of users and computers that access huge amounts of data from the Internet at the same time). Its primary query languages are T-SQL Microsoft SQL Server Microsoft SQL Server Microsoft SQL Server Apprendre SQL Apprendre SQL Prior to version 7.0 the code base for MS SQL Server was sold by Sybase SQL Server to Microsoft, and was Microsoft's entry to the enterprise-level database market, competing against Oracle, IBM, and, later, Sybase. Microsoft, Sybase and Ashton-Tate originally worked together to create and market the first version named SQL Server 1.0 for OS/2 (about 1989) which was essentially the same as Sybase SQL Server 3.0 on Unix, VMS, etc. Microsoft SQL Server 4.2 was shipped around 1992 Apprendre SQL (available bundled with IBM OS/2 version 1.3). Later Microsoft SQL Server 4.21 for Windows NT was released at the same time as Windows NT 3.1. Microsoft SQL Server v6.0 was the first version designed for NT, and did not include any direction from Sybase. About the time Windows NT was released in July 1993, Sybase and Microsoft parted ways and each pursued its own design and marketing schemes. Microsoft negotiated exclusive rights to all versions of SQL Server written for Microsoft operating systems. (In 1996 Sybase changed the name of its product to Adaptive Server Enterprise to avoid confusion with Microsoft SQL Server.) Until 1994, Microsoft's SQL Server carried three Sybase copyright notices as an indication of its origin. SQL Server 7.0 and SQL Server 2000 included modifications and extensions to the Sybase code base, adding support for the IA-64 architecture. By SQL Server 2005 the legacy Sybase code had been completely rewritten.[5] Since the release of SQL Server SQL Server 2000, advances have been made in performance, the client IDE tools, and several complementary systems that are packaged with SQL Server 2005.
