What is CIVILand? How does it relate to the relevance and innovation potential of civil society for payment systems for ecosystem and cultural landscape services?
Presenter: Thomas Krikser Ph.D. & Claudia Sattler Ph.D.
CIVILand is a junior research group funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). CIVILand examines how economics incentives such as payments for ecosystem services (PES) can be developed and how they can be applied to preserve ES. Non-governmental initiatives, especially those from civil society initiatives are in the focus of interest. What is civil society's financial contribution to ES preservation? What innovative contributions do civil society initiatives make in the development and implementation of PES? CIVILand pursues these issues by comparing Germany, Great Britain, and the U.S.
