Germany has called on the European Union to establish a new payment system for its transactions with Iran. German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas said the E-U should set up a system if it wants to save the nuclear deal. He noted that the system should be independent of the United States, European Monetary Fund and SWIFT. The U-S unilaterally withdrew from the 20-15 nuclear accord between Iran and the world powers in May. Washington also threatened other signatories against doing business with Tehran. But other parties to the agreement believe Washington’s move was illegal and they should keep their trade with the Islamic Republic according to the deal. Digital Marketing News; http://webcertain.tv A study by EHI in Germany has found that the leading form of online ecommerce payment is ‘purchase on account’. Purchase on account is a system where money is only transferred once goods have arrived at the delivery address. 67% of online retailers in the country have now adapted their delivery options to meet this consumer expectation, helping it become the most revenue-intensive payment method in the German ecommerce market. The growing variety of payment systems in Germany means that the top 10 online stores in the country now offer nine different methods. However, e-wallets are still the most common form of payment, with digital wallets being the second most common.

Good-bye to credit cards, traveller's cheques and cash: by the year 2012, we will be paying via cellphone. It should be enough to hold the phone near a terminal, and the amount will be automatically withdrawn from your bank account. Whether for paying the baker or hairdresser, supermarket or pharmacist, the mobile phone will become a money machine. At least, that is how six major banks, which have formed a consortium with French mobile operators and two credit card companies, see it. France is a world leader in this technology, and Payez Mobile has already gone a long way. It has launched a large scale field trial, equipping 1000 people with mobile handsets outfitted with a short-range radio, to see how the system works in practice. Paris is home to the headquarters of Orange, France Telecom's mobile operator, which is a major participant in the project. Klaus Enderle visited Hussem Assadi, who is in charge of the trial at Orange.

The system of bonus payments for bank staff has been widely blamed for the global financial crisis. It put added pressure on managers and traders to maximize their earnings by maximising profits. Often, not enough consideration was given to minimising risk. Economists are now demanding banks change the way they operate. The topic is on the agenda at the upcoming world financial conference in Washington. But how could bonus systems be made more sustainable? MADE IN GERMANY asked major stakeholders in Europe's financial centres. Currently, managers are still receiving massive bonuses despite huge losses suffered by the banks. But car maker Porsche says bonus payments are not in themselves a bad thing. They give ordinary employees a chance to share in their company's success and function as a widely accepted work incentive. Dan Hirschfeld investigates.

Germany's central bank has published a new research paper centered on distributed ledger tech (DLT), exploring its use for payments, securities settlement and more. Researchers from the Deutsche Bundesbank wrote in the paper that the tech "offers a number of benefits on account of the distributed storage of data" – highlighting both the potential opportunities as well as some of the practical challenges any application might create. In an English-language explainer published alongside the paper (the original version is in German only), the German central bank noted that it doesn't see much of a role for the tech in consumer payments, arguing: "The Bundesbank’s experts see little prospect of DLT being put to widespread use in the field of individual and retail payments given the current state of the art. Particularly for payments within the euro area, they argue, the systems in operation have already been optimised for fast transfers and require a minimum of reconciliation, besides being able to process millions of transactions with ease every day."

Cashless payments are on the rise. They are fast, easy and convenient. Worldwide, cashless transactions have become the norm. But Germany’s central bank and government are still clinging on to cash. Can they stop the move towards a cashless society? Our documentary shows who is behind the worldwide anti-cash lobby. Banks want to get rid of coins and bills for cost reasons, and politicians think less cash will cut the rug out from under criminals and terrorists. Central bankers want to abolish cash because it would make it easier for them to enforce negative interest rates. And digital payment companies like Paypal or Visa simply want to profit from money transactions and collect as much financial data about consumers as they can. Their aim is to gain complete control over our buying behavior. For example, the "Better than Cash Alliance" in New York is supported by financial corporations such as Visa or Mastercard. They say the more people that are integrated into the international financial system, the more growth and jobs it will promote. But as our financial behavior becomes more and more transparent, states are also using payment data to find out more about us. The ordinary citizen’s view of cash as a store of value, independent of third party interests, is being increasingly ignored. But for them, cash is and will remain a symbol of freedom. _______ DW Documentary gives you knowledge beyond the headlines. What is CIVILand? How does it relate to the relevance and innovation potential of civil society for payment systems for ecosystem and cultural landscape services? Presenter: Thomas Krikser Ph.D. & Claudia Sattler Ph.D. Date: 2/4/2011 12:00PM CIVILand is a junior research group funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). CIVILand examines how economics incentives such as payments for ecosystem services (PES) can be developed and how they can be applied to preserve ES. Hello guys welcome to my channel; Today in this video am gonna show you the benefits of cashless economy in the society; In india demonetization has been started a month ago; Those who had black money are much worried about demonetization; ok now let’s know the benefits of cashless economy; Number 7; There is no need to carry large amount in cash; before we want to purchase some big electronics or some other expensive equipments, then we have to bring cash; so while carrying that much cash, there will be some kind of fear of losing it; So now carrying a small card is enough for us; if in case you lost the card, you can immediately block through your bank; After that their is no tension on carrying huge cash; Number 6; Time is very precious thing in our life; Just think how we are wasting our valuable time in bank, counting money and other cash transactions; For example we go somewhere to pay bills, ticket booking and other things; Now think how much time you have saved through e-payment; Number 5; Do you remember the purchases and expenses that you made in the last year? No right; Through e-payment every single expenses will be recorded in your bank statement or e-wallet; Then you will be able to manage your expenses; Number 4; Protection for your Health; Yes it gives you protection for your health; Currency notes are not directly reach you from bank; It goes on travelling around all dirty places; It can carry many harmful germs from all places; Do you agree? And also many people use their leftover to count the currency notes; is it make sense? Is that good to keep in our pocket? Number 3; In india their is an issue about change problem; For example while shopping something, the product cost will be about 98 rupees; But the shopkeeper will not give you the change; instead of change he will give you some chocolates; is it true? In this case, if we don’t like chocolate, then also we have to keep it; anyway we lost our 2 rupees change; Like this way in so many places we have lost our 2 rupees, 3 rupees and 5 rupees; So e-payments will solve this types of problems; Number 2; Your wallet will not be stolen; If in case stolen, their will be no cash in that wallet right? Just some debit and credit cards will be there; but immediately you can lock those cards through your bank; Then there is no fear for losing your wallet; and there is no use of keeping money at home; Number 1; It will improve your savings; How? To pay bills or purchase something, you have to go somewhere; So to reach that place you should use a bike or bus; So is your savings improved or not? One of the five key functions of the Federal Reserve is fostering the safety and efficiency of our nation’s payment and settlement systems. Payment systems facilitate financial transactions and purchases of goods and services by individuals and institutions, consumers and businesses, and investors and securities issuers. The Clearing House Interbank Payments System is a United States private clearing house for large-value transactions. By 2010 it settling well over US$1 trillion a day in around 250,000 interbank payments. Together with the Fedwire Funds Service, CHIPS forms the primary U.S. network for large-value domestic and international USD payments. CHIPS transfers are governed by Article 4A of Uniform Commercial Code. Unlike the Fedwire system which is part of a regulatory body, CHIPS is owned by the financial institutions that use it. Banks typically prefer to make payments of higher value as long as they are less time-sensitive in nature by CHIPS instead of Fedwire, as CHIPS is less expensive. One of the reasons is that Fedwire is a real-time gross settlement system, while CHIPS allows payments to be netted. This video is targeted to blind users. eCommerce payments need to be simple, global, and secure. Here’s why. ----- Transcription ----- Simple Markus Rinderer: “Simple for us means that merchants should be able to focus on their key business and not struggle with the complexity of payments.” Jan Richard: “In order to really create a really simple service you need to do quite complex things in order to make them then appear simple.” Daniel Kornitzer: “Consumers do not care about technology, what they care about is ‘is this solving a problem and making my life easier?’ If the answer is yes then that’s great.” Rob McDonald: “Integration has to be quick and easy if possible, and it has to be intuitive for our customer in how they use our platform, because it’ll look different in every country.” Craig Saks: “For me simplicity is all about the user experience, payments must not get in the way of the shopping experience; it must be seamless and easy to use for the consumer. But equally important, simple means it’s easy for our customers to configure their payment environments and deploy payments wherever they want to do business, anywhere in the world.” Global Mike Braatz: “So global to me means being able to support merchants who want to find new markets, whether it’s a Chinese merchant wanting to move into Europe, a US merchant looking to break into China, the ability to expand into new markets, and have the payments infrastructure that they already have in place to support that expansion – that’s what global is all about.” Luke Davids: “So for me global is all about being set and ready with everything you can internationally so that it’s as easy to shop internationally as it is on a UK website” Tim Sawyer: “So global connectivity, for Green Man Gaming, is the ability of the customer to choose appropriate local payment systems; in Germany ELV or Sofort, in Holland iDEAL, in China Alipay or China UnionPay.” Ben Brown: “There’s 3 or 4 hundred billion of cross-border eCommerce now, going to 1 trillion within 5 years or so, so solution providers need to be more global.” Joel Van Arsdale: “Global actually means being very good at many different local markets, but also packaging that in a way for merchant customers that is easy to use – taking a very complex environment and making it simple for merchants.” Secure Markus Rinderer: “And security finally very important topic, it’s on the one hand the capability to secure a transaction end-to-end in our world-class data centers, on the hand, it’s the capability to manage and prevent the fraud globally.” Kevin Vasconi: “I mean obviously security is the easy one to talk about, the risk profiles change every day, we need to be cognizant and aware of that.” Daniel Kornitzer: “I think that safety, security, protection of individual data, it goes to the heart of what consumers and merchants expect, and it’s our job to deliver that.” Craig Saks: “So being secure is fundamental to the consumer experience of shopping, if they don’t trust the shopping experience and the payment that they make, they’ll be uncomfortable to complete their shopping on that site.” Karen Webster: “It isn’t just about being simple, it isn’t just about being global, it isn’t just about being secure, they all have to work together, because when you’re a merchant online you’re open to everyone that wants to find you and buy from you, so it’s absolutely essential that simple, global and secure be the mantra of eCommerce retail.”
