How To Memorize Lines - Best Memorization Techniques

05:58
http://blackbeltmemory.com/?WickedSource=Youtube&WickedID=How-To-Memorize-Lines Get memory training tips at link above now Get more training on how to memorize your lines here: http://blackbeltmemory.com/?WickedSource=Youtube&WickedID=How-To-Memorize-Lines The Mind Palace also known as the Memory Palace or Method of Loci has been around for at least 2500 years and it is no surprise that famous people throughout history have used it. Shakespeare actually used this memory training technique in the Globe theatre to teach his actors how to memorize lines. It is a simple yet extremely effective technique to memorize lines. The concept of this memory training technique is that you select places in your room to be locations where you mental store data. The first step is to turn the lines that you want to memorize into pictures and then visualize these images around the rooms in your mind. You could use rooms in your home or use the actual theatre where you will be reciting the lines as Shakespeare’s actors did. Either way is extremely effective. The more vivid, unusual and creative the images are the more likely that you will recall them. This method is more effective than rote memorization of simply saying the lines over and over until they stick in your brain. You can get more info on how to memorize lines here: http://www.wikihow.com/Memorize-Lines Read through your script once to get a feel for the text and then go back and turn the key words into pictures and visualize them in your Mind Palace. Remember it is not necessary to turn every word into pictures just the main ideas of each line or thought.

English Conversation: The Meaning of Hand Gestures

18:14
Have you noticed that you make hand gestures while speaking your native language? Body movement during conversation can give off social clues that are particular to a certain culture. But when people learn a language, they often forget to learn the words and expressions that we make with our hands. You may find that a hand gesture in your culture has a different meaning in English-speaking countries. In this lesson, I will teach you common hand gestures used when speaking English. Take the quiz to test your understanding: http://www.engvid.com/english-conversation-the-meaning-of-hand-gestures/ TRANSCRIPT Hello. My name is Emma, and in today's video, I am going to teach you all about how we use our hands in English. So there are many ways we use our hands in English. I'm going to teach you a lot of different ways we use them. A lot of students get very confused with this, because the way we use our hands varies from culture to culture, so what we do in Canada and England and the U.S. might be very different than with what you do in your country. Okay? So pay close attention to these differences. So to start with, let's look at: "knock on wood". If you're living in an English-speaking country, you may have noticed sometimes people have a wooden object or a desk, a table, something made of wood, and they knock on it. Okay? You might wonder: "What does this mean, knock on wood?" In English tradition, if you say something good, for example: "I did very, very well on my test. I killed my test. I did amazing on my test", you might knock on wood to make sure that you don't jinx it. Okay? I'll give you another example. Imagine if I want to go on a picnic, and I'm a little afraid about rain, I might say: "Oh, you know, today's supposed to be a very sunny day. Knock on wood." I'm knocking on wood to prevent rain. Okay? So it's a superstition we do in order to kind of protect ourselves from the opposite happening. Okay? One last example: -"How did your interview go? How did your job interview go?" -"Oh, it went well." [Knocks] Okay, so that's why we knock on wood, it's a superstition. All right, let's look at some of these other ones. "Quotes". A lot of students have asked me: "What does this mean?" Okay? So, for example, somebody might say: "Yeah, she's beautiful." Or: "He's really smart." This kind of has a sarcastic tone to it. It means somebody has said somebody is beautiful, but you don't believe it. Or somebody has said somebody is smart, but you don't believe it. So if you hear someone saying something, and you're, you know, pretty much using their words but you don't believe it, you can do quotes. Okay? Another example: "Yeah that movie was awesome." Okay? So it means you don't believe it. English is fun. Your teachers might tell you English is fun. When you're talking to your friends, you might say: "English is fun", if you don't believe it. All right, the next one: "crazy". All right? In English, if we think someone is crazy, we go... Okay? So, for example: "That guy, he's very..." [Clicks tongue] It means he's very crazy. Okay? "Fingers crossed". A lot of the times in English, we take our fingers and we cross them, and we go like this. This means we're hoping something happens. Okay? So, for example: I hope you like this video, fingers crossed. Or: I hope I did well on the test, fingers crossed. Okay? So this means you hope something is happening. Now, this is a little different from if you take your finger and you put it behind your back. If you take your finger... Your fingers crossed and you put it behind your back, it means you're telling a lie. So, for example: "Oh, I loved the movie you made. The movie you made was incredible." If my fingers are behind my back, it means I'm lying to you. "I never talk to that guy." Okay? Fingers behind my back, it means I'm lying. Okay? Now, this one you might know, I think it's a very common one: "OK". It can also mean: "nice work" or "A-OK". So that means something has gone well. We have this one which is a very rude one. This, which means... And sorry, I'm not doing this to you; I'm just teaching it. This means "up yours", which pretty much in English means "fuck you". Okay? So if you ever see somebody going like that, it's not polite. It means up yours or fuck you. Oh, we have one... Two more. "Peace sign". Okay, when we're talking about peace in English, we often go: "Peace." So this is against war. In the 1960s, there were people called Hippies, they were always going: "Peace." This is very different than the V sign, this. Peace is like this, the V sign is like this. The V sign is something that is almost the same as this. In England, in Australia, in New Zealand, if you do this to somebody, you're pretty much telling them: "Fuck you." Okay? So be careful. "Peace", versus "Fuck you."
「Learn Japanese」 How-to use Quotations (Direct and Indirect Quotations) pt. 1 of 2

07:54
「Learn Japanese」 How-to use Quotations (Difference between Direct and Indirect Quotations) The Japanese language, very much like the English language, has two kinds of quotations: direction quotations and indirect quotations. Direct quotations are used when the speaker is quoting an utterance verbatim, or, exactly word-for-word. In order to indicate this in the English language, quotation marks are used; in the Japanese language, the corresponding punctuation marks are called 鉤括弧 (kagikakko), or for short, simply 鉤 (kagi). 「They look like such」 Indirect quotations, on the other hand, are typically paraphrased from the actual utterance being quoted and therefore need no indicative puncutation mark such as 鉤括弧 (kagikakko). In the English language, indirect quotation marks are typically indicated with the use of the word “that” before the quotation. For example, the sentence “He said that he’s not coming to practice today.” implements an indirect quotation, while the sentence “He said, ‘I’m not coming to practice today.’” implements a direct quotation. In the Japanese language, the equivalent of the word “that” isn’t used to indicate an indirect quotation; however, the particle と is used as a quotation marker, for both direct quotations and indirect quotations. Therefore, to distinguish the two, the particle と denotes a quotation being used; and subsequently, the use of 鉤括弧 (kagikakko) indicates a direct quotation while the lack of 鉤括弧 (kagikakko) indicates an indirect quotation. Due to various nuances, the distinction between using direct quotations and indirect quotations and other general guidelines for grammatical usage of quotations with the Japanese language can be slightly more complicated than with the English language. *While direct quotations are repeated in the exact same conjugational form as the original utterance, Indirect quotations must be in the Plain Form. Example(s): Direct Quotation Version: 彼女は「楽しかったです」と言った。 Kanojo wa 「tanoshikatta desu」 to itta. (She said, “It was fun.”) Indirect Quotation Version: 彼女は楽しかったと言った。 Kanojo wa tanoshikatta to itta. (She said that it was fun.) *Although both direct and indirect quotations are considered subordinate clauses because they are sentences in and of themselves within the main sentence, they can still be used with the particle は instead of the particle が. Example(s): Direct Quotation Version: 彼女は「この映画はすごく面白い」と言った。 Kanojo wa 「kono eiga wa sugoku omoshiroi」 to itta. (She said, “This movie is super interesting.”) Indirect Quotation Version: 彼女はこの映画はすごく面白いと言った。 Kanojo wa kono eiga wa sugoku omoshiroi to itta. (She said that this movie is super interesting.) ✧¸¸.•*¨*• •*¨*•.¸¸✧ Support Learning Japanese on Patreon! She said, “My parents are coming to pick me up.” Indirect Quotation Version: 彼女はご両親が迎えにいらっしゃると言いました。 Kanojo wa goryoushin ga mukae ni irassharu to iimashita. (She said that her parents are coming to pick her up.) *If the subject of the direct quotation refers to the actual speaker of the quote (i.e. if it is a first-person pronoun such as 私), that first-person pronoun itself does not appear in the indirect version of the quotation. Due to it potentially causing confusion between the original speaker of the quote and the current speaker of the sentence using the quote, the word 自分 (jibun), which means “oneself,” can be used in substitution. Example(s): Direct Quotation Version: 彼は「私はダウンタウンに行きました」と言いました。 Kare wa 「watashi wa downtown ni ikimashita」to iimashita. (He said, “I went downtown.”) Indirect Quotation Version: 彼は自分はダウンタウンに行ったと言いました。 Kare wa jibun wa downtown ni itta to iimashita. (He said that he went downtown.) ✧¸¸.•*¨*• •*¨*•.¸¸✧ Support Learning Japanese on Patreon! One Simple Method to Learn Any Language | Scott Young & Vat Jaiswal | TEDxEastsidePrep

16:29
While few of us will ever take on the ambitious challenge of learning four foreign languages in a year, many of us yearn to be more proficient in another language. The secret to success as it turns out is simpler than you think. Scott Young is a blogger, speaker and author. He previously spoke at TEDx EastsidePrep about his project “The MIT Challenge” to self-test MIT’s undergraduate computer science curriculum in one year, using their freely available information. His most recent project was with Vat Jaiswal, traveling to four countries, learning languages, with the goal of not speaking English for an entire year. He writes about learning and self-education at his website, ScottHYoung.com. Vat Jaiswal is a graduate student, aspiring architect and filmmaker. His most recent project was with Scott Young on The Year Without English, where he traveled through Spain, Brazil, China, Taiwan and Korea creating four short documentaries on language learning and cultural immersion. He shares his work, including experimental time-lapse photography and an interview series with successful architects, at vatjaiswal.com This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Why is that so many people are afraid of making mistakes? This fear is stopping people from doing the things they really want to do. And the new things they want to do. Hi, and welcome! Click below to SUBSCRIBE to be notified when there are new videos. http://www.youtube.com/channel/UCWFEjPJSj4XlEbgN0_QdNFA?sub_confirmation=1 Japan and Japanese Related videos. Language Related videos. Japanese,Russian,German Mainly Educational videos. I think that people are fairly dumbed down, I don't want to contribute any further to the idiocy, and make people more genius. I have been learning Japanese for over 5 years now. I also make videos teaching and learning Japanese. Some Tutorial videos for the 3000+ year old asian game with the black and white stones. Known as Go or Igo in Japan, Weiqi in China, and Baduk in Korea. The game has the popularity in the east as Chess does in the west. Chess videos too, I might make Shogi(Japanese Chess) videos at some point. I am also learning German. I studied fairly intensively for 3 months and then went to Germany for 2 weeks. I haven't really studied much after that intensive period. I seem to have retained what I've learned, so I have somewhat of a "German" part in my brain that I can switch on and become "Fluent". So maybe I'll make some German related videos too. I have a pair of Russian cousins. Maybe I can convince them to teach Russian here. I also have another cousin who is learning Farsi. I also have the ability to talk a lot and not really say anything. As you may have noticed. But I mainly make non commentary videos. ----------------------------------- Some Game and Roblox Videos.
