Prioritization is needed because risk identification uncovers a large number of risks having at least some potential to influence project objectives. However, many of those risks will be of such a low priority or have such a small impact that it isn't cost-effective to address them, so qualitative analysis allows the project team to focus on the most important risks. The risk register provides the list of identified risks to be evaluated, and the risk management plan provides the details on how probability and impact will be assessed and what risk scoring formula and ranking criteria will be used. Risks are prioritized and ranked based on their overall risk rating score, but risks can also be prioritized by their expected monetary value, impact, or any combination of other methods. 11.3.1 Perform Qualitative Risk Analysis: Inputs • Risk register The risk register is a comprehensive list of all threats and opportunities the project faces. It also contains supplementary data about each risk, including its impact, probability, risk response, budget, risk owner, and contingency and fallback plans. • Risk management plan The risk management plan is a component of the project management plan. It details and defines the risk management activities for the project. The plan establishes the risk methodology, risk roles and responsibilities, risk categories, probability and impact scales, risk tolerances, frequencies of risk management activities and reporting, and the budget and schedule for risk management activities. • Project scope statement The project scope statement details the measurable goals, objectives, deliverables, and requirements of the project, and what the acceptance criteria of deliverables will be. It also describes the work required to meet all objectives and deliverables of the project, and it also contains milestones, assumptions, risks, and costs. The scope statement helps determine the impact a risk may have on the project’s objectives and may help determine its probability. • Organizational process assets Data from similar, past projects and risk databases will help determine impacts and probabilities. 11.3.2 Perform Qualitative Risk Analysis: Tools and Techniques • Risk probability and impact assessment This assessment investigates each identified risks to expose the probability and impact of all the project objectives. This data is used to prioritize or rank risks. Monte Carlo Schedule Risk analysis. Part 1: Introduction to schedule risk analysis techniques

09:42
Video shows how schedule risk analysis is performed in RiskyProject project risk management and risk analysis software. Monte Carlo simulations require inputs to perform the analysis: duration estimates and statistical distributions. In this video, we describe what a statistical distribution for schedules is and use a real life example to gather the distribution data and describe them using frequency histograms and cumulative probability plots. Finally, we use the data we generated from this real life example, to create a risk analysis model in the software and run a Monte Carlo simulation. Project management - Excel Risk Dashboard Template In this article I'll show you how to build excel risk template using Excel's built in visual tools. htttp://exceldashboardschool.com/ Instructions for Changing the Contents of Drop-Down Menus: Highlight the cell of which you wish to change the content of the drop down menu. From the file menu click Data then Validation and you can change the content of the source field. Matrix Score: This is calculated once you select the priority and current status. The matrix use conditional formatting to display color. In our Excel risk template I used risk ranking to determine matrix score. This is a priority (with weighted category) list which is determined by the relative ranking of the risks. If you change the actual status of priority the risk score calculated automatically. Project Risk Analysis and Risk Management Workflow

03:18
In this video we will demonstrate a step by step process of the project risk management and analysis workflow in RiskyProject. To process starts with a Project schedule. Project schedules can include activities, costs and resources. Project schedules can be created in RiskyProject or imported from other project scheduling software such as Microsoft Project or Oracle Primavera. In RiskyProject risks can be managed either at the project or project portfolio level. Each project has a risk register. If you are managing more than one project, they can be part of an Enterprise risk register. The project risk registers include all information about risks that could affect the project. Once risks have been identified and added to the risk registers, they can be assigned to a project’s tasks or resources. As part of this process, we can also create risk mitigation and response plans. These plans are stored in a common corporate repository. Once created, risk plans can be assigned to risks and become part of the risk management process. Once you have assigned risk to your project schedule, you run a Monte Carlo simulation to analyze the impacts of the risks. The Monte Carlo results will allow you to generate a risk adjusted schedule. The Monte Carlo simulations will help you perform risk ranking and prioritization. Another result of Monte Carlo simulations is project risk ranking. You can rank projects in your portfolio based on their risk exposure. This process iterates over the course of the project. During project execution, you can monitor your project which includes the monitoring and control of risks. As your project proceeds, you can update your risk register, mitigation and response plans, and run periodic Monte Carlo analysis to ensure that your project stay on time and budget. How Monte Carlo Works

04:57
The video show basic concepts behind Monte Carlo project schedule risk analysis. Based on example of very simple project schedule this video demonstrates Monte Carlo sampling process. The video also shows basics steps of Monte Carlo simulation for the precedence network. The results of a Monte Carlo schedule risk analysis can be thought of as a risk adjusted project schedule. Risk adjusted project schedules can be created using mean duration, start and finish time, or a particular percentile of statistical distributions for start, finish time, and duration. It is very convenient to show a risk adjusted project schedule alongside the original deterministic (no uncertainties) project schedule. Both schedules can be shown on a single Gantt chart. Monte Carlo offers a universal method to analyze your schedule. It does not matter what combination of tasks you have and what distributions they have, Monte Carlo will be able to calculate an accurate, if probabilistic, answer. 82. PMP | Perform Qualitative Risk Analysis Overview

03:23
This PMI PMP PMBOK based video explains about the project perform qualitative risk analysis which belongs to project risk management along with ITTO,input, tools, techniques, output. Perform Qualitative Risk Analysis is the process of prioritizing risks for further analysis or action by assessing and combining their probability of occurrence and impact. The key benefit of this Perform Qualitative Risk Analysis process is that it enables project managers to reduce the level of uncertainty and to focus on high-priority risks. Perform Qualitative Risk Analysis assesses the priority of identified risks using their relative probability or likelihood of occurrence, the corresponding impact on project objectives if the risks occur, as well as other factors such as the time frame for response and the organization’s risk tolerance associated with the project constraints of cost, schedule, scope, and quality. Here the ITTO,input, tools, techniques, output of PMP Perform Qualitative Risk Analysis process Per PMP PMBOK-5, Input of project Perform Qualitative Risk Analysis process is, .1 Risk management plan .2 Scope baseline .3 Risk register .4 Enterprise environmental factors .5 Organizational process assets PMP PMBOK-5 says following tools and techniques are used in project Perform Qualitative Risk Analysis process .1 Risk probability and impact assessment .2 Probability and impact matrix .3 Risk data quality assessment .4 Risk categorization .5 Risk urgency assessment .6 Expert judgment Following are the output of project Perform Qualitative Risk Analysis process as per PMP pmbok-5 .1 Project documents updates

84. PMP | Perform Quantitative risk analysis tools and techniques used

05:10
Lets learn about the important Tools and Techniques used in Perform Quantitative Risk Analysis in PMI PMP PMBOK based project management tutorial: Here are some Data Gathering and Representation Techniques for your reference which is part of perfom quantitative risk analysis. interviewing: Interviewing techniques draw on experience and historical data to quantify the probability and impact of risks on project objectives. The information needed depends upon the type of probability distributions that will be used. For instance, information would be gathered on the optimistic ,pessimistic, and most likely scenarios for some commonly used distributions. Here is an Example of three point estimates for cost. Probability distributions: Continuous probability distributions, which are used extensively in modelling and simulation, represent the uncertainty in values such as durations of schedule activities and costs of project components. Discrete distributions can be used to represent uncertain events, such as the outcome of a test or a possible scenario in a decision tree. Here are the two widely used continuous distribution for your reference. Beta Distribution and ,Triangular Distribution Here are the perform quantitative risk analysis another tools Quantitative Risk Analysis and Modeling Techniques. Sensitivity analysis: Sensitivity analysis helps to determine which risks have the most potential impact on the project. It helps to understand how the variations in project’s objectives correlate with variations in different uncertainties Expected monetary value analysis: Expected monetary value (EMV) analysis is a statistical concept that calculates the average outcome when the future includes scenarios that may or may not happen (i.e., analysis under uncertainty). Modeling and simulation: A project simulation uses a model that translates the specified detailed uncertainties of the project into their potential impact on project objectives. Simulations are typically performed using the Monte Carlo technique. Expert Judgment

Project Risk Analysis: Assigning risks to your schedule and costs

05:49
The alternative method for Monte Carlo risk analysis (as opposed to applying uncertainties) is to assign risks from your risk register to your project schedule and costs. RiskyProject has an integrated risk register that allows you to assign risk outcomes - probabilities and impacts - to your project, which we refer to as Event Chain methodology. This is the preferred method of quantitatively assessing risk in projects especially in circumstances where you have limited analogous historical data that can be used for risk estimates. The reason for this is that people generally have very limited ability to estimate at the boundaries or limits of the uncertainties. Whereas, we vcan be quite accurate at estimating what the most likely duration will be, we do much more poorly when attempting to estimate worst case and best values. The result is that we end up with unrealistic and generally too optimistic estimates for our projects. Using risks to model project uncertainty will generally lead to better forecasts as people are much better at understanding how a risk will impact a project if it occurs. For more information how to perform schedule risk analysis using RiskyProject software please visit Intaver Institute web site: http://www.intaver.com. About Intaver Institute. Intaver Institute Inc. develops project risk management and project risk analysis software. Intaver's flagship product is RiskyProject: project risk management software.
