It spans over 60 countries and will cost over a trillion dollars. The plan is to make it easier for the world to trade with China, by funding roads, railways, pipelines, and other infrastructure projects in Asia and Africa. China is loaning trillions of dollars to any country that's willing to participate and it's been a big hit with the less democratic countries in the region. This makes the BRI a risky plan as well. But China is pushing forward because its goals are not strictly economic, they're also geopolitical. To truly understand the international conflicts and trends shaping our world you need a big-picture view. Trade wars, explained

Complex geopolitical maneuvering explained with Game of Thrones and . . . googly eyes. Become a Video Lab member! http://bit.ly/video-lab Tariffs can be used as a useful tool to protect domestic industry or to serve as a punitive measure against another country. But President Trump’s bluster and threats of imposing tariffs on foreign imports to the US have raised the specter of a trade war with China, and more recently, Mexico. The “weapons” used in a trade war are the stuff we use everyday — the food we eat, the cars we drive to work and the computers we use. If a trade war can have such a pervasive impact on our daily lives, why would a country choose to engage in one? And what even is a trade war anyway? Reducing trade costs in least-developed countries

Lowering transaction costs can improve a country's ability to compete effectively in the global economy. Least-developed countries face higher barriers than other WTO members. The new Enhanced Integrated Framework for LDC trade is one of the Aid for Trade mechanisms available to support governments. This video was produced during the Global Review on Aid for Trade, held in Geneva from 30 June to 2 July 2015, at the WTO. The Best Tax-Free Countries in the World

06:01
http://nomadcapitalist.com/2015/09/07/tax-free-countries-second-residency/ Living in one of the best tax-free countries of the world is every entrepreneur's dream, but how to do it? While there are plenty of countries with no income tax where governments welcome people with money to live freely, actually getting into them is becoming increasingly more difficult. This is hardly a surprise, seeing that more and more businessmen are looking for ways to pay fewer taxes and even reduce them to 0. However, there's a glitch of which you need to be aware of and use that knowledge wisely. If you plan to base your business in one the countries with zero income tax, then you might be considering Kuwait, United Arab Emirates or Saudi Arabia. Or maybe you're more focused on Bermuda, Caribbean Islands or the Cayman Islands, which offer same perks - you go work there and pay no tax. But there's always a challenge and with these countries is that they're not particularly open to new foreign entrepreneurs. So which countries are the excellent flag to plant, and you don't have to wrestle with the circumstances every step of the way? There are plenty of livable countries that don’t impose income taxes on their residents, and most of them actually have territorial taxes. The good news here is you can live in Singapore or Hong Kong, make your money offshore and pay no tax for it. It's rather simple - if the income isn't generated in these countries, you won't pay tax for it. Naturally, you don't want to set up your company in a country where you have to pay territorial tax because then income taxes are inevitable. Of course, these countries are making it very hard even for high-achieving entrepreneurs to make a base there because they're aware of the value of the freedom they have. Fortunately, Malaysia, Thailand, Costa Rica, Panama etc. still haven't become as strict as Singapore or Hong Kong, so there's some leeway to take advantage of. The trick here is to plan carefully, to know what you want and how to get there. It’s all about “going where you’re treated best”. This is what the Nomad Capitalist and Andrew do best - helping entrepreneurs come up with a strategy that will give clients more freedom and help them save money on taxes. Finding the best tax-free country for you requires experience and attention to details, and having professionals help you will make a world of difference. Did you explore tax-free countries? What If You Couldn't Buy Things From Other Countries?

05:13
What if the world stopped trading? What if the US decided to stop trading with the world? What would happen? Unless you live in North Korea you’re probably reliant on international trade in one way or another (NAFTA, ETC). Possibly the food you ate today is farmed or grown overseas. The pen you used to write the shopping list to buy the food you ate was probably manufactured overseas. Your mobile phone or laptop was almost certainly made overseas. The specific parts to that laptop were probably made in different countries. Your car will have had its parts made all over the world before being assembled. We live in a world reliant on overseas trade. But what would happen if countries decided to stop trading with one another? Would society grind to a halt? Would we all become self-sufficient within our own nations? That’s what we’ll find out today on the Infographics Show as we ask – What if World Trade Stops? What Will Happen? Tax and VAT issues when trading with countries outside the European Union

02:51
Tax and VAT issues when trading with countries outside the European Union - If you export goods to countries outside the EU (known as ‘third countries’), you must have the appropriate licences and make export declarations to customs through the National Export System (NES). You must also make sure that VAT, import taxes and duties in the destination country are paid where necessary, and follow transport procedures, though this is normally the responsibility of the importing person or company. There are a number of export procedures, such as duty relief schemes which can benefit businesses. VAT on exports and other taxes When a third country receives your goods, it may charge duty. A third country may also charge their own equivalent of VAT or purchase tax. http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/vat/managing/international/exports/goods.htm http://callietimothy.com/ You Can Learn More on: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLD-fVNHkAoWERcT2SdgifXHu26oSrTFrg

Road to Prosperity: Chinese infrastructure links African countries, boosts trade

CGTN's special series on Kenya's Standard Gauge Railway: The East African country is about 10-thousand kilometres away from China. As far back as the ninth century, China was already trading with countries along Africa's east coast. Today, China is Kenya's biggest trading partner. But thanks to initiatives like the SGR, bilateral ties are deepening and spreading into other countries. Has the World Trade Organisation failed poor countries? | Counting the Cost

25:01
The World Trade Organisation (WTO) has come under renewed criticism for failing poor and developing countries with talks on agricultural trade unable to yield a breakthrough in more than 14 years. Nations including Kenya, India and Pakistan have been calling on the WTO to force developed countries to phase out subsidies paid to farmers whose overproduction is threatening the livelihoods of farmers in the developing world. Many analysts have argued that negotiations at the WTO have remained largely dominated by traditional economic powers such as the US and EU with discussions failing to deliver promised change. Some point to the failure of western governments to conclude what's known as the 'Doha Development Agenda' which has kept agricultural economies in Africa trapped in poverty. The Doha Development Agenda, which began in Qatar in 2001, is a series of trade negotiations with the broad aim of reforming the international trading system through the introduction of lower trade barriers and revised trade rules. But 14 years on, some of the biggest of those issues - agriculture tariffs and farming subsidies - remain unresolved. Ricardo Melendez-Ortiz, the CEO of the International Centre for Trade and Sustainable Development joins Counting the Cost to discuss whether the Doha Round should be scrapped. Global arms industry continues to boom The international arms trade is continuing to boom, with trade at its highest level since the end of the Cold War. Worth more than $400 billion a year, according to the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI), around 100 companies control the trade with 64 of them based in either the US and Western Europe. While the US is the world's biggest exporter with 54.4 percent of the market, German and Swiss sales have grown to 9.4 percent and 11.2 percent respectively. Increasing instability in the Middle East and Asia has prompted an arms race between Iran and the Gulf States, while a similar situation between Pakistan and India has prompted both countries to stock up on huge amounts of weapons. Pieter Wezeman, a senior researcher with the SIPRI's arms and military expenditure programme joins the show to discuss who's buying what weapons. - Subscribe to our channel: http://bit.ly/AJSubscribe - Follow us on Twitter: https://twitter.com/AJEnglish - Find us on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/aljazeera - Check out our website: http://www.aljazeera.com/

DESCRIPTION: People from all over the world ask me if they can learn from their country. The answer: Yes! You can learn from just about anywhere. My courses are all online. Sometimes I teach in person. I run some small group trainings. But the majority of my courses, including DVDs, video lessons, and webinars, are all online. All you need is the internet. I have students all over the world — in over 100 countries! And when I teach, I trade with a small account. I reset my account to $12,000 every single year so I can show how it’s possible to grow it trade by trade. Small accounts are often overlooked, and that’s why I focus on them. They require a different strategy. Teaching how to grow a small account is one of my specialties. I also maintain a bigger account. But my main focus is to help the students with smaller accounts. Here’s another question I hear a lot: How many dedicated students do I have? Unfortunately, not enough. Students come and go. Sometimes life gets in the way, and sometimes people are frustrated by the time and dedication that trading requires. It takes time and perseverance before you can actually start. You need to have the right perspective. You need to focus on your education and build your knowledge base before you’re truly ready to face the markets. What country are you from? Globalization and Trade and Poverty: Crash Course Economics #16

09:02
What is globalization? Is globalization a good thing or not. Well, I have an answer that may not surprise you: It's complicated. This week, Jacob and Adriene will argue that globalization is, in aggregate, good. Free trade and globalization tend to provide an overall benefit, and raises average incomes across the globe. The downside is that it isn't good for every individual in the system. In some countries, manufacturing jobs move to places where labor costs are lower. And some countries that receive the influx of jobs aren't prepared to deal with it, from a regulatory standpoint. Anyway, Jacob and Adriene can explain the whole thing to you in 10 minutes. *** Crash Course is on Patreon! How specialization and trade helps both countries (get outside their PPF)

04:08
This video goes over a typical gains from trade scenario where two countries are producing on their PPF, and then specialize and trade. The movie shows how by specializing and trading more of both goods can be produced in an economy. It is a very beautiful phenomenah because it is possible for everyone to consume more of everything without working harder or adding new inputs to the process. It sets the stage for modern jobs and the barter system. It is one of the reasons people go to College or University to learn to specialize! More information is available at http://www.freeeconhelp.com/2011/09/if-two-countries-specialize-how-many.html

Top 10 Countries With The LARGEST Gold Reserves!

10:12
Check out these 10 countries with the largest gold reserves in the world! This top 10 list features some of the richest and wealthiest countries on earth that have tons of gold bars stacked up somewhere! Subscribe For New Videos! http://goo.gl/UIzLeB Watch our "SURPRISING And Interesting Facts About Money!" video here: https://youtu.be/ONpChSPqVc4 Watch our "Most AMAZING Discoveries With A Metal Detector!" video here: https://youtu.be/45JveYKafVo Watch our "Most EXPENSIVE Diamonds In The World!" video here: https://youtu.be/RcZATf3Lmb0 10.) India According to the World Gold Council, the Bank of India currently holds 557.7 tons of gold. It is one of the largest stores of gold in the world! This makes up 9.9 % of the country’s total foreign reserve. Foreign exchange reserves is money or other assets held by a nation’s central bank so they can back the national currency. India, home to 1.25 billion people, is the number one largest consumer of the precious metal. Furthermore, India is one of the most reliable drivers of global demand. For example, India’s festival and wedding season, which runs from October to December, has historically been a major market for gold. And probably, one of the most interesting facts about India and gold is that India rarely invests much in gold. This is because as a country, India operates under the belief that buying gold leads to a deficit. And their belief must be proving right as things also seem to be improving for India. For instance, if you look at the last few years, India has increased its gold reserves from 557.74 to 557.77. While this might not seem like a lot, India is also at its highest point in history! In addition to what the country holds, Indian households which are considered the world’s largest hoarders of gold, hold a record 23,000-24,000 tons, which is worth about $800 billion. 9.) Netherlands In the past few years, the Netherlands has held 52% of its foreign reserve in gold. The Netherlands has a reported 612.45 tons. In 2016 it was reported that the bank was looking for a place to store all its gold because they were going to renovate the vaults and needed to moving it. The Dutch central bank is planning to move the country’s gold reserves from the center of Amsterdam to a new complex called the Cash Center. Like most countries, Dutch gold is also held in banks around the world to reduce risk. Security measures to guard the gold 24/7 have become a problem in Amsterdam. 189,000 kilos of gold will be moved at the beginning of 2022. Maybe this is one reason that over the last decade and a half, the Netherlands was selling off tons of gold in order to reduce its reserve. However, there weren’t that many buyers out there and they sold less than the country wanted. More recently the country has had less ambition to sell gold. Currently, the country holds the same amount of tons, 612.45 that they have over the last few years. However, the country has increased its percentage of foreign reserves to 61.2 %. 8.) Japan Japan is another country which had been increasing its gold reserves since the 1960’s. Their official gold holdings were reported at 765.2 tons. About 2.4% of Japan’s gold today is in foreign reserve. Historically, Japan has always held a bit more gold than other countries. This was true until 2011, when they began to sell some of their reserve in order to pump money into the economy after the tsunami and the following Fukushima nuclear disaster. But even with selling, Japan’s central bank has been one of the most aggressive practitioners of quantitative easing. For example, in January of 2016, it lowered interest rates below zero, which has helped fuel demand in gold around the world. 7.) Switzerland Prior to 1997, Switzerland was steadily building its gold reserves. In 1997, the decision was made to sell some of those reserves to bolster the Swiss currency and diversify the foreign reserves. The percent of foreign reserves in Switzerland is currently 6.7 %. Switzerland actually has the world’s largest reserves of gold per capita and currently has reported 1,040 tons. Over time, many citizens in the country started to feel like the bank was getting rid of too much gold. They then banded together with the “Save the Swiss” movement. However, once everyone was able to vote in 2014, the vote came to a no, and gold continued to be sold. During World War II, Switzerland became the center of the gold trade in Europe, making transactions with both the Allies and Axis powers. Today, much of its gold trading is done with Hong Kong and China. Around last year, the Swiss National Bank made a $5.9 billion profit, reportedly from its gold holdings. Bitcoin Cash (BTH) opened at $1,250 but dropped throughout the week, losing its $1,000 support bar and reaching its lowest point of $967 on Thursday. It tried to recover, reaching the $1,000 mark but ended the week at the $990. EOS opened above the $13 mark but it also suffered with the rest of the market, reaching its lowest point on Thursday, when it bottomed out at $10,50. However, it recovered to close the week at $12.50, out-performing all other coins we’ve analysed. Finally, Litecoin (LTC) opened the week at the $130 mark but then experienced quite a downfall, going as low as $116 on Thursday, before recovering a little to close the week at $117. 44 countries sign Africa Continental Free Trade Agreement
