About the video: You may have traveled a lot and wondered why you get more of one currency when you exchange it for another. If so, you have witnessed exchange rates in action, but do you know how they work? Watch the video to find out what exchange rates are, how to convert between them and the different systems which determine a currencies exchange rate. Historically the gold standard system had been used, which fixed currency to a select value of gold, held in a vault. The three main systems are the floating, managed and fixed exchange rate systems. The floating system has minimal government intervention, using supply and demand to determine the exchange rate. The managed exchange rate is allowed to be within a permitted band and a fixed exchange rate is usually pegged to a currency with the interest of being competitive in the international market. The video explains this in more detail and with helpful picture to guide you through the subject.

What Determines The Value of Money | 1MinuteDoc

Money; Everyone wants it, everyone needs it; Without it we can’t buy goods and services; But how much stuff money can buy doesn’t remain constant; What 10 dollars can buy today is less than what the same 10 dollars could buy in 1980; So what determines money’s worth? Supply and demand. If lots of people provide goods and services there is competition and prices fall; Money will be worth more. If the economy weakens, everyone still needs food and other stuff; High demand and low supply will reduce money’s value; It’s called inflation. War, economic recession and poor exports exacerbate inflation; Most nations control interest rates and trade policies to keep annual inflation below 5%; In 1990 after a prolonged civil war in Zimbabwe inflation touched two hundred million percent; They issued banknotes worth a hundred trillion each; This was hyperinflation at its worst;

What's the value of money?

02:28
A huge net worth is not that important in the long run. Question: What's the value of money? Moby: To me, the ultimate goal in acquiring money is to have enough money so you don't have to worry about money, like that's the best thing about money is when you don't have to pay attention to money.  I mean, I grew up very, very poor, and when I first left home, I lived in an abandoned factory in a crack neighborhood and I was completely broke, and so, even 20 years ago going out to dinner with friends was ordeal, the check would come and we were all broke, so we would sit there and figure out who owed what and there would be arguments because someone would say well, sure, I had the bread but I only two pieces and you had four pieces.  So it is nice to go out to dinner and not have to worry about that.  Yeah, what I don't understand is the pursuit of money for the sake of money.  Like at some point, if you make $100,000 a year and you get a raise, and you are making $200,000 a year, that actually probably will affect and potentially improve the quality of your life.  There are certain financial increments where you can go up or go down and it will impact the quality of your life, but if you have 20 million dollars in the bank and someone gives you an extra 10 million dollars, it is not going to affect the quality of your life at all.  It means that you might have a bigger house in the Hamptons, or you might have a six-bedroom apartment on the upper east side instead of a five-bedroom apartment on the upper east side, but it doesn't make any-- and based on watching my friends who made a lot of money, like it does not make them any happier, but, yet, people still pursue it.  What cracked me up a few years ago, someone wrote a biography on Donald Trump and they said that he was only worth 125 million dollars, and he threatened to sue the writer and the publishing company because he maintained that his net worth was a billion dollars.  I was like who cares?  Like go play with puppies and learn how to scuba dive because at the end of the day that is going to make you a lot happier than having a net worth that is inconceivable.  Recorded on: 6/16/08 Question: What's the value of money? What makes Bitcoin and other CryptoCurrencies go up in value?

What makes Bitcoin and other CryptoCurrencies go up in value? Francis Hunt, stock market trader and educator comments. PLEASE LIKE AND SHARE THIS VIDEO SO WE CAN DO MORE! Is it hype, speculation or some real/virtual value? Is the Cryptocurrency rush we are experiencing like the .com bubble? Is it a bubble or are Cryptocurrencies here to stay? Do people use the currency for anything besides speculation? What makes Bitcoin go up in value? Bitcoin, Ethereum, Ripple and Litecoin collectively have around a ~$90 billion valuation. Can they really be worth this much? It is partly hype but it also supply and demand. I think we are in a transition and as a result there is a wall of money that needs to move in the crypto world. So are we experiencing a CryptoCurrency rush? I would avoid the word Bubble - there might be parallels with the Dot-Com but cryptocurrencies aren't going away in the long run. Yes

What Determines The Value Of A Currency

02:02
Professor L. Randall Wray discussing how the purchasing power of a currency is determined. Since the government tax creates a demand for that currency, the amount of currency demanded will be *at least* equal to the total amount of the tax, but probably more than that, meaning the government will have to run deficits. But this doesn't tell us what the currency will exchange for: will $1 buy 1 apple or 1,000 apples? Modern Money Theory suggests that this is determined by what prices the government pays when it purchases goods and labor. If you need $100 to pay the tax, you are going to work for the government (or for somebody else who has worked for the government) until you have $100. So the government can dictate what you must do to receive $100: will it take 1 hour of work, or 200 hours of work? Arbitrage around this in the private sector will determine the purchasing power of $1. A government could dictate a price it will pay. It could dictate every price it would pay, and then all activity in the private sector would change to arbitrage around these. More commonly, governments set a single price, and allow market forces to determine the rest. In a gold standard, the government fixes the price of gold, and then relative market pricing determines the rest of prices in the economy. A problem can happen when the government doesn't fix any price, but allows markets to determine all prices. This is because a small amount of inflation will lead to the government paying higher prices, which will lead to more inflation, which will spiral. In our current setup, we use unemployment to deal with this: when prices start to rise, demand falls because the poor can't buy, which brings prices back down. MMT advocates instead the government should fix the price of unskilled labor, by offering a Job Guarantee, to anybody who is ready, willing, and able to work at a fixed nominal wage. This would reverberate through the markets and help anchor other prices against inflation or deflation. Why is Rupee falling against US Dollar?

07:44
"Why does dollar price go up and down?". He explained me the reason. I am going to simplify same explaination here. Lets assume there are only two international traders between India and US. - Mr Patel in Mumbai who supplies Diamond Jewelry to a store in New York. - Mr. Brown in Chicago who supplies Industrial Robots in Noida. Assume dollar price today is 45 rupees. Today Patel sold 10 piece Jewelry set to NY store, cost of each piece was 1000 dollars. Total selling amount = 10,000 dollars. Now Patel wants to convert 10,000 dollars to Rupees. If rate is 45 rupees to 1 US dollar. After conversion Patel should get 4.5 Lakh rupees. Same evening Mr. Brown from Chicago, sells one industrial robot in Noida for Rs. 2.25 lakhs. As per 45 rupees to dollar rate, Brown is expecting to convert Rs. 2.25 lakhs to 5000 US dollars. So we have -- 10,000 US dollars to be converted to rupees. [After conversion worth Rs. 4.5 Lakhs] -- Rs. 2.25 Lakhs to be converted to dollars [After conversion worth 5000 US dollars] We have a problem. Demand for Rupees is more than that for dollars. In other words for this particular trading day, there seems to be more supply of dollars than that of rupees. Patel and Brown log to Foreign Exchange website to convert their currency. First 5000 dollars gets exchanged easily. And the rate is Rs. 45 to 1 US dollars. Brown is happy he got his 2.25 lakhs converted to 5000 US dollars, he logs out of website and goes home. Patel still has more 5000 US dollars to convert in to Rupees. He got some money on credit from a friend and promised to return him on time with small interest fee. Patel also wants to pay salary to karigar (people on manufacturing floor) who manufactured jewelry for him. Patel is now desperate to convert remaining 5000 dollars to rupees. Lets add one more character in to story now. Mr Desai who runs a Travel Agency and organises tours to countries like UK, USA, Asia etc. He logs to website and sees someone waiting to exchange 5000 US dollars to rupees. Desai knows that he will need US dollars sometime next month and was looking to buy some at good price. He offers a bargain. Last price for dollar was 45 rupees, but if someone sells dollars for 43 rupees, I will buy it. Patel being in rush, agrees to sell dollars for lower price. Patel converts remaining 5000 US dollars at rate of 43 rupees. 5000 x 43 = 2.15 lakhs. Patel doesn't mind loosing small amount because he will able to make payments on time. Now latest Exchange rate is: Rs. 43 to 1 US dollar. After few weeks , Desai (Travel agent) gets a big contract to organise tour for a group of 100 people. He needs lot of dollars, he logs in to website and sees Patel ready to sell 10,000 dollars for 47 rupees. Desai desperately needs dollars, he buys it. Now excahnge rate is: Rs. 47 to 1 US dollar.

How the Value of Rupee is determined in comparison of Dollar

04:18
The value of money is determined by the demand for it, just like the value of goods and services. There are three ways to measure the value of the dollar. The first is how much the dollar will buy in foreign currencies. That’s what the exchange rate measures. Forex traders on the foreign exchange market determine exchange rates. They take into account supply and demand, and then factor in their expectations for the future. For this reason, the value of money fluctuates throughout the trading day. The second method is the value of Treasury notes. They can be converted easily into dollars through the secondary market for Treasuries. When the demand for Treasuries is high, the value of the U.S. dollar rises.

Bitcoin Q&A: Who determines the value of bitcoin?

02:39
Keywords/phrases: Who determines the value of bitcoins? Everyone, through market forces of supply and demand in international liquid markets that operate around-the-clock. A fundamental difference between bitcoin and the USD/GBP/Euro etc. is that trading never ceases; it has been continuous for 7 years. The volatility can be a roller coaster, yet if you look at the long-term trend, volume and transactions go up while volatility keeps dropping. For Argentinians and Brazilians, the price of bitcoin is not too volatile and you don't need to sell it to them, because they already understand the separation between state and money is a good idea. Volatility is relative.

They really need your support ! Thank you . We have to get rid of the idea, that money, in any way, represents intrinsic value. Money does not represent intrinsic value. It is not money that determines the value of goods. Money, as we used to do in the United States, especially as Roosevelt emphasized this, is you need a fixed-exchange-rate system, in which, when you loan at 2%, you do not have fluctuations in currency values, which raise the 2% to 4% and 5% and so forth. Therefore, you must have a fixed-exchange-rate system among nations, and you must have, not a monetary system, which is an imperialist system intrinsically, but a credit system. And this was the intention of Franklin Roosevelt, in 1944, before his death. This was changed by Truman, fundamentally. Roosevelt, when he made his proposal, for reconstruction of the world system around a credit system, a fixed-exchange-rate credit system, fought against Keynes! He was an opponent of Keynes. Keynes was a filthy imperialist of the worst type. His type was typified by a book he wrote, in German, published in Berlin in 1937, on his system. And he wrote a preface to it, which is revealing — in German, also — saying he had published his first great book in Germany because the conditions in Germany at that time, 1937, were more favorable to his ideas than those in the rest of the world! And that was true. That remains true, today. So Keynes is not a solution. We do not need a monetary system. What is the monetary system? The monetary system means that nations do not have a sovereign credit system. Because you have an international monetary arrangement, which is controlled by Venetian-style bankers, which use governments and use their nominal currencies within arrangements, arranged by a combination of international monetary powers, which are private powers. We have to go to a credit system, where money can not be uttered, except by the sovereign act of government. And money is uttered as credit, which can then be monetized, under the law, as money.... to read the rest of these text follow this link: http://www.larouchepac.com/node/8027

The Value Of Money - What gives money and/or currency - Value?

02:00
What gives money and/or currency - Value? The value of any item can be derived by measuring it's supply and demand. This is also measured in relationship with the supply and demand for other goods in the economy. A price for any item is the amount of currency it takes to get that item. Inflation occurs when the price of goods increases—in other words when the currency becomes less valuable relative to those other goods. Fiat currency has been losing value over time (due to governments printing currencies irresponsibly) and like all fiat currencies in the past. It is very likely that it will go to zero and have no value. However, Goldma has introduced a cryptocurrency that is based on the gold production at a gold mine. Goldma will have a limited number of tokens and will never make anymore. Yet gold production will continue to occur everyday. Step 1: Authenticate Authenticate your Beanie Babies through an expert, especially if you suspect you own a rare model, or one of the counterfeits produced. Step 2: Visit the Ty Website Visit ty.com to determine when your Beanie Babies were retired, or to verify whether they are limited editions. Step 3: Evaluate the condition Evaluate the condition of your Beanie Babies, also noting the presence and condition of the Ty tag. Tip A missing tag may drop the value as much as 50 percent. Step 4: Consult a guide Consult a Beanie Babies price guide book, magazine, or online catalog to determine a rough idea of the toy's value. Step 5: Conduct an advanced search Conduct an advanced search for recently completed auctions of similar models to gain an understanding of today's value for specific Beanie Babies. 3 Minutes! Bond Valuation Explained and How to Value a Bond

03:01
OMG wow! Clicked here http://mbabullshit.com I'm shocked how easy, bond valuation video.. What is a Bond? Basically, a bond is a certificate which proves that a company borrowed money from you and now owes you money. Owning a bond is a way to earn interest payments instead of putting your money in a bank. Therefore, if a bond can give you high interest coupon payments compared to bank interest payments, a bond value should be high. On the other hand, if a bond will give you small coupon payments compared to bank interest, the bond value should be low. A bond can be bought either from the original company which issues the bond, or from people who already bought the bond from the corporation, but who want to sell the bond before it expires because they don’t want to wait too long before they get back their original investment So to find the theoretical value of a bond, we need to think about the bond’s interest coupon payments compared to bank interest payments, the bond’s face value, and the length of time before maturity when you get back the full face value of the bond. రూపాయి పతనానికి కారణాలివే! Why is Rupee falling against US Dollar? How decide the value of currency?

07:26
Floating exchange rates, or flexible exchange rates, are determined by market forces without active intervention of central governments. For instance, due to heavy imports, the supply of the rupee may go up and its value fall. In contrast, when exports increase and dollar inflows are high, the rupee strengthens. The value of money is determined by the demand for it, just like the value of goods and services. There are three ways to measure the value of the dollar. The first is how much the dollar will buy in foreign currencies. That's what the exchange rate measures. For example, if rupee depreciates, a dollar which once cost Rs. 47 would cost, say, Rs. 50. In essence, the value of dollar has risen and the buying power of rupee has gone down. Besides the primary powers of demand and supply, the rupee-dollar rates are determined by other market forces as well. It is because the Americans forced them to do so. This is the reason why RBI is very careful not to let rupee too strong. It is to India's advantage that $1 equal Rs.60. It helps keep exports high, wages high and imports low. The government took this position at the expense of an increasing deficit and national debt. In short, the government essentially printed money and sold government bonds to foreign governments and investors to increase the supply ofdollars, resulting in the currency's depreciation. Exchange rates are constantly fluctuating, but what, exactly, causes a currency'svalue to rise and fall? Simply put, currencies fluctuate based on supply and demand. ... A high demand for a currency or a shortage in its supply will cause an increase in price. Floating exchange rates, or flexible exchange rates, are determined by market forces without active intervention of central governments. For instance, due to heavy imports, the supply of the rupee may go up and its value fall. In contrast, when exports increase and dollar inflows are high, the rupee strengthens. In general, a higher exchange rate is better. ... In this case, a higher exchange rate is better, because it means you'll get more euros for your villa. A lower exchange rate is better when you're selling currency. Equally however, a lower exchange rate can sometimes be better, if you want to sell a currency. Oil imports are settled in US dollars in India, now as price of crude is rising in international market, in order to pay the import bill of crude oil, Indian oil firms have to buy dollars by selling Rupee in the international market, as a result of which demand of dollar increases in the Forex market consequently value .. Money is the value assigned to a commodity, a piece of paper, a coin or electronic data (think online banking and credit cards). It can be of different types-commodity money, representative money, fiat money and commercial bank money. Gold coins, cocoa beans, cattle or anything that has a value of its own and is used as a medium of exchange is commodity money. The use of commodity money is similar to barter, except that the commodity used is widely accepted and can be easily handled. Representative money is token coins and notes that can be exchanged for a fixed amount of precious metals or other commodities. In contrast, fiat money's value is imposed by the government, which makes refusal of payments made in the notified legal tender, in the form of currency notes and coins, illegal. Instruments such as cheques, demand drafts and banker's drafts are commercial bank money. They exist as entries in ledgers of financial intermediaries and can be used to make payments for goods and services. With the exception of someone living in a cave on an undiscovered island, everyone uses money. Shops accept currency notes and coins, but they also accept credit cards. Is credit card money?
