11 Secrets to Memorize Things Quicker Than Others

10:46
We learn things throughout our entire lives, but we still don’t know everything because we forget a lot of information. Bright Side will tell you about 11 simple memorizing tips that will help you remember everything and improve your memory. TIMESTAMPS Why we forget things 1:04 How to remember everything 2:00 How to memorize something quickly 2:30 How to memorize something for a long time 3:20 Try to understand what you learn 4:17 Learn the most necessary information 5:11 Serial position effect 5:45 Interference theory 6:06 Learn opposite things 7:22 Build your own «mind palace» 7:22 Use «nail words» 8:19 Make up stories 8:40 Use a tape recorder 9:10 Visualize 9:51 Choose only the best materials 9:59 SUMMARY - Your brain is like a hard drive — the space is limited. Remember Sherlock Holmes? He couldn’t name all the planets of the Solar system — this was not because he missed school or something like that, but because he was too smart to have such irrelevant information in his memory. He deliberately erased facts he would never need. This is what your brain does: it protects you from overloading with information. That’s why all new data is stored in the short-term memory, not the long-term one. So, if you don’t repeat it or use it, you forget it very quickly. A German psychologist, Hermann Ebbinghaus researched the memory and its mechanisms. He described the Forgetting Curve which shows that just one hour after learning something new we forget more than half of the learned information. One day later we remember only about 30% percent. Well, you see where this is going. - There is a memorization technique called «Spaced repetition». To keep some information in your head for a longer time, you need to try to put it into your long-term memory. Forced memorization is not very effective in this case because your brain can’t make sense of the information quickly and form strong associations. Here it all depends on the reason why you are learning something. - To memorize something quickly, repeat the information right after learning it. The second repetition should be after 15-20 minutes. You don’t need to return to the information between repetitions — just rest and do something different. Let your brain relax. Repeat the learned material the third time after 6-8 hours. And you should have the final repetition 24 hours after the first contact with the information. Do you know any other memorizing tips? If yes, share them in the comment section below! What Your Hands Say About Your Personality

09:46
I’ll read your palms and tell you what it means and what your hands say about your personality dominant traits. We all like to take personality tests and learn something new about ourselves based on the type of coffee we pick. It turns out it is not just our choices, but also our palms that can tell a lot about us. Experts of the American Academy of Hand Analysis, professional psychologists, reveal the basics of scientific hand analysis. TIMESTAMPS Determine your strong hand 0:45 Determine your strong and weak fingers 1:02 Analyze your hand shape 2:55 The shape of your fingertips 6:05 The gaps between your fingers 7:09 If you have doubts regarding the seriousness of all this hand analysis, we have something to tell you. It is getting more and more approved by scientists, as long as it’s not about reading your future based on your palm lines. Therapists and counselors, and even geneticists around the world are actually treating it more and more seriously these days. It turns our fingerprints are developed before our birth, at 14-16 weeks of pregnancy and stay the same throughout our lives. The patterns on our palms are something like the map of our brain neural pathways. Those pathways are made of thoughts and actions that define us. Other peculiarities of our hands change as our preferences and character changes over time. Hand analysis can be a way of learning more about ourselves, finding explanations and improving our emotional health. Finally, some researchers say certain genetic disorders and markings and hand shape are linked to each other. It is quite possible that hand research will contribute to the study of genetic abnormalities in the future and then no one will doubt its scientific status. And your message can also be transformed to strikethrough by using tildes (~Hello!~). Plus, you can combine these styles by putting two or even all three symbols together (_~*Hello!*~_). - This works only on iOS devices. You can do that by heading to Settings and then picking Account and Storage Usage. You'll see the list of all your WhatsApp contacts and groups as well as the total number of messages you've sent and received for each one of them! - If there is some group chat or a person that's constantly bothering you with endless messages, you can simply mute it. Just pick the chat, click on its name or the name of the contact on top of the screen and select mute. You'll have an option to mute it for 8 hours, a week or even a year! - Go to Settings, then click Account and select Privacy. If you have an iPhone and you want to back up a certain chat, just click on its name, then on the name of the contact and you'll see an option E-mail conversation. - If you want to express your feelings for someone in a whole other dimension, just send a red heart alone without any other emojis or words. You may think it's nothing much, but amazingly enough, it turns into a big beating heart. - For iOS users, there is a simple solution. Just double tap on a message and select the star icon. - When you receive a message don't open it right away and dismiss all the notifications. Then, set your phone on airline mode that will turn your Wi-Fi or Internet connection off. After that just open your app and read the text. - . WhatsApp thought about that and allowed its users to disable those little previews. To do so, you have to go to Settings, click Notifications and there you'll see the option Disable Show Preview. - Hold on any of your messages you're interested in and choose Info. √ Writing about Newspaper Articles | Text Type Studies | English

17:07
#iitutor #English #TextTypeStudies https://www.iitutor.com Writing about Newspaper Articles You can write about newspaper articles in a number of ways: and not just comprehension. To fully interpret the validity, effects and techniques of a news article, you need to ask some questions. How do they Grab Attention? An article can grab attention through a headline, an image, or both. The relationship between headline and image attracts a reader through by interest or emotional response. The first line of the article is important for maintaining this interest, or getting them to ‘click’. Are they Truly Objective? This bias can be seen in any way that a journalist adds personal opinion, be it political, social, cultural, religious or ideological. While many articles are completely objective and impersonal some do indicate bias or emotion. You must analyse what effect this bias has, if any, on the trustworthiness and validity of the article, and be critical. What Sources do they Use? A good test of the trustworthiness of a news article comes from the evidence or source that a news story uses. Some are generally trustworthy such as: Government spokesperson, police, professors, scientists, the subject of the article, photographic evidence Some are less than trustworthy, such as: Witnesses, ‘a source close to’, unrecognised ‘experts’, the subject of the article, ‘man on the street’ What Kind of Story is it? Not all news stories are the same. All stories connect and attract readers in different ways. They can be humorous, scandalous, sensational, fear-mongering, heart-warming or reflective. All stories want to connect with reader in some way, and through this, they appeal directly or indirectly to emotions and interests. How does it use Language? The final question you should ask is how techniques are used, such as: Exaggerated or sensationalist choices of language Emotional or figurative language Formal or colloquial style of language in reporting Puns or rhetorical questions in headline Any distinct layout or visual choices The file name must be E06103.flv

Writer Jobs - Writing Articles For Money

03:02
http://tinyurl.com/lhnqqvc - Writer jobs exist on the Internet because of the many website owners that need to put quality content for the readers. Some webmasters either do not have the writing skills to add unique content or simply do not have time to do so. Every website needs to have some content to boost the sites popularity so webmasters would go as far as paying others if the articles meet their standards. If you have some time every day to work on a couple of articles, writer jobs might just be up your alley because they pay pretty well. You just have to make sure you are applying for a writing job that offers you to write topics that you are most passionate about. This is actually a nice thing because you can think of the things you are most knowledgeable in and see if you can apply them to writing. For instance, a car enthusiast should work for someone that has a car blog so you can supply lots of car-related articles. Generally, you just have to make some interesting and unique content to impress the one that will hire you to write. Some people may request the article to be search engine optimized which can affect your writing style. Unlike essay or literary writing, you might be asked to place certain keyword phrases at the beginning, middle and end of the article. This is the most basic way of optimizing an article for the search engine so basic search engine optimization or SEO techniques shouldnt give you too much of a problem. Other people that offer writer jobs may ask you to become a ghostwriter. This is a bit more difficult because you have to study the articles currently available on the site that you will be contributing to. Ghostwriting involves writing for somebody else so you have to make sure the style and personality of your articles match the overall style and personality of the entire website. If you are applying for a copywriter position, you need to represent the entire company through each article. Reading online articles and e-books is a great way to understand how writer jobs online differs from the offline ones. Once you are aware of the benefits of online writing, you can start small with writer jobs and then pursue a big career where you can some serious freelance writing or make your own blog and market it for advertisement revenue. Visit http://bit.ly/1lq2EZj to learn how you can begin writing articles for money. Authorship is a medium of communicating that represents language through the lettering of indications and symbols. In many languages, authorship is a complement to speech or language. Inside a language process, writing relies on most of the same structures as speech, such as vocabulary, grammar and semantics, with the extra dependency of a program of signs or symbols, generally in the form of an official alphabet. The consequence of writing is typically called text, and the receiver of text is referred to as a reader. Motives for authorship comprise story-telling, correspondence|correspondence, storytelling, publication} and diary|diary, story telling, correspondence and publication}. Authorship has been instrumental in keeping dispersal of knowledge through the media and also the formation of lawful systems|the creation of legal systems, dispersion of information through the media and also history}. Under the influence of technologies including data storage and computer networks, the pace of correspondence and potential for collaboration improved. As human societies emerged, the development of writing was driven by pragmatic exigencies such as exchanging information, keeping fiscal accounts, codifying regulations and recording history. Across the 4th millennium BCE, the sophistication of commerce and administration in Mesopotamia outgrew human memory, and writing became a more dependable approach to recording and presenting trades in a permanent sort. a political importance and calendrics for recording historic and environmental occasions|For recording historic and environmental events in both Ancient Egypt and Mesoamerica writing may have evolved through a political necessity and calendrics}.

A Color Test That Can Tell Your Mental Age

07:37
A lot of the times your brain “feels” way younger or older than you are. That's called mental age. Do you wanna know yours? Lucky for you, Bright Side put together a simple test that will help you figure out if you're a carefree child, an old and wise sage or just exactly as mentally “old” as you are. Just answer our questions, write down your points for every answer, add them all up and get your results! But enough talking, let's begin! If you got 7-12 points, mentally you're just under 20 years old. It doesn't matter what your passport says – you’re a carefree teenager at heart! If you're way older than 20, congratulations – you've managed to carry this constant feeling of enthusiasm and love for life through all these years. Keep shining! If your result is 13–20 points, you are 20–29 years old. You are active, creative, and full of life, but you can already call yourself an adult. Childhood and teenage years are over, but you took the best from them and left all the unnecessary stuff behind. It doesn't mean that you're not having fun though – your life is just as exciting as it was. If all of your points added up to 21–28 points, your mental age is 30–39 years. You’re still active and curious about new things and ideas, but you are already responsible and thoughtful. If you think about it, that's the perfect balance between the children's joy for life and adults' independence. The golden mean at its best! If your total number of points is 29–35, you are 40–49 years old. You're mature and experienced, and you know exactly how to live your life. You have no time for nonsense – you're determined and hardworking. You know what you want and how to get it. Continue to be a true inspiration for everyone around! 36–40 points mean that your mental age is over 50 years. And that's not a bad thing at all! On the contrary, you are wise and calm. You get what life is all about, and you highly appreciate comfort. You're the person everyone goes for advice, plus you can always be trusted. These are some rare qualities today, so your friends must protect you at all costs. So what’s your mental age and how close is it to your real age? Interjections Schoolhouse Rock.

03:01
Interjections Schoolhouse Rock Wow! Essra is a very well respected musician and also sang on Sesame Street & is the writer of Cyndi Lauper's "Change of Heart" + songs by Tina Turner, Lisa Fischer, Marty Balin, etc. Essra's videos can be found here on YouTube, btw. Thank you! Lyrics to Interjections When Reginald was home with flu, (uh huh) The doctor knew just what to do: He cured the infection, With one small injection, While Reginald uttered some interjections: Ouch! That hurts! Yow! That's not fair, giving a guy a shot down there! Interjections Show excitement, Or emotion. They're generally set apart from a sentence By an exclamation point, Or by a comma when the feeling's not as strong. Mmmm... Though Geraldine played hard to get, (uh huh) Geraldo knew he'd woo her yet. He showed his affection, Despite her objections, And Geraldine hollered some interjections: Oh! I've never been so insulted in all my life! Hey! You're kinda cute! Interjections Show excitement, Or emotion. They're generally set apart from a sentence By an exclamation point, Or by a comma when the feeling's not as strong. So when you're happy Or sad Or frightened Or mad Or excited Or glad An interjection starts a sentence right! The game was tied at seven all, (uh huh) When Franklin found he had the ball. He made a connection, In the other direction, And the crowd starting shouting out interjections: Interjections Show excitement, Or emotion. They're generally set apart from a sentence By an exclamation point, Or by a comma when the feeling's not as strong. So when you're happy Or sad Or frightened Or mad Or excited Or glad An interjection starts a sentence right! Interjections Show excitement, Or emotion. They're generally set apart from a sentence By an exclamation point or by a comma when the feeling's not as strong. Interjections! Show excitement! Or emotion! Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Hallelujah... yeah!!

30 HACKS AND CRAFTS THAT WILL SAVE YOU THOUSANDS

19:41
HACKS TO SURVIVE IN PRISON "Orange Is the New Black," based on Piper Kerman's experiences in prison, showcases quite a few tricks for female inmates, such as using maxi pads to clean your cell, as makeshift slippers or as a surgical mask. Some of the more interesting tricks are beauty-related (and saved, perhaps, for those prison visits): use Kool-Aid as a temporary hair dye or, mixed with Vaseline, as lipstick; coffee as eyeshadow or a face mask; toilet rolls as hair curlers; colored pencils as eyeliner (ouch!). According to former inmate experiences, you can make prison toast by wrapping a slice of bread in paper and sticking it on the hot pipes for five minutes. It's also revealed that you can turn toilet paper into an oven of sorts: The TP is rolled into a cylinder, folded in at the ends, and lit so it burns from the inside out. That slows it down and intensifies the heat. Inmates hold their undercooked meal above the flame, and voila, you can get it as hot and crispy as you like. Make Anything Taste Better Speaking of food, clever prison recipes and cooking tricks could probably make up a whole post of its own. When I asked people on Twitter their life hacks learned from jail, many replied with food ones. Here are some tips: Replace water with apple juice when cooking rice, adds flavor and quick, affordable and easy. Make a cake in microwave using crumbled up Oreo cookies and milk using mug or small container. You can make Ramen in a plastic bag by filling it with hot water and wrapping it in a towel for a few minutes. Ramen Noodle Packs and Mini bags of Cheetos. These are used to make what people called prison burritos. Essentially eat half the bag of Cheetos, crush the rest of them in the bag, add half the Ramen noodle pack and a little hot water to the bag of cheetos, shake it up, fold it over closed. Let it sit for 5-7 minutes. when you rip open the bag you have a little Cheeto-cheesy noodle burrito shaped thing. Folks did this because you don't get bowls in jail. Strangely enough its kinda delicious if Ramen is a part of your life and you need a change of flavors. All of these could come in handy for dorm dwellers and those very low in food funds or simply lazy. Enjoy! 11 Signs of Health Problems Hidden On Your Face

09:29
How to figure out if there’s something wrong about your health? It’s often enough to look in the mirror. External changes can signal the beginning of a serious illness inside. So pay particular attention to these 11 symptoms of internal problems that show up right on your face! When it comes to health issues, early detection is key. #health #itching #hormones TIMESTAMPS: Discoloration of the skin around the mouth and nose 1:06 Extremely sensitive, glossy, or bulging eyes 1:49 Eyelashes that have become thicker and longer 2:35 A puffy face 3:12 Soft yellowish spots on the eyelids 3:49 Eyelid swelling and peeling 4:43 Itchy ears 5:22 Sudden facial asymmetry 6:07 Rashes and red blotches on the face 6:56 A receding chin 7:44 Out-of-control facial hair growth 8:11 #healthproblems #puffyface #itchiness Music: https://www.youtube.com/audiolibrary/music SUMMARY: - If your skin has turned grayish-bluish in the area of the nasolabial triangle (that’s basically your mouth and nose), this may indicate that you’re not getting enough oxygen due to poor blood circulation. - If you’ve noticed that your eyes had become extremely sensitive, glossy, or bulging eyes, this may be one of the first signs of hyperthyroidism or thyrotoxicosis. - If you feel that your eyelashes have started to grow abnormally fast, this could be a real problem. Experiencing curlier, thicker, longer, or more pigmented eyelashes is a condition called trichomegaly. Some people are born with it, but it can also be caused by serious ailments like tuberculosis or immunodeficiency disorders. - A puffy face with swelling around the eyes, as well as dry skin and thin fragile hair, are some of the first signs of iodine deficiency. Iodine is responsible for proper thyroid function. Besides these symptoms on your face, if you notice that your weight is constantly fluctuating or you have increased sensitivity to the cold, it’s high time to see an endocrinologist. - People who have xanthelasma, or yellowish cholesterol-filled sacs on the skin, mostly around the eyes, are at a higher risk of developing heart disease. As harmless as they may seem, these spots indicate that the body isn’t metabolizing fats properly, which can result in a condition called atherosclerosis. - According to statistics, one out of 3 people who’s ever used cosmetic products on their eyes has experienced an allergic reaction to them at least once. Flakey or reddened eyelids may be your body’s way of telling you that your eye makeup or moisturizer contains some components that your skin doesn't agree with. - If you suffer from constant itchiness in your ears, this may be a sign of eczema, psoriasis, or some sort of allergy. The appearance of eczema, irritation, or similar skin problems means that you could be dangerously low on Vitamin D, also known as the sunshine vitamin. - A sudden change of facial symmetry, watery or dry eyes, and tingling in the facial muscles may mean a person has Bell's palsy. This condition causes muscle weakness or even paralysis on part of the face. It happens if the nerves that control your muscles become swollen, compressed, or inflamed. The reason for this problem is most often a viral infection. - Symptoms of digestive problems can actually show up on your skin. For example, red bumps that gather into itchy clusters may indicate celiac disease. If your cheekbones and the bridge of your nose suddenly become “decorated” with a butterfly-shaped rash, it can be a symptom of lupus. Other possible causes of rash are eczema, allergies, or some infection. - If a receding chin is accompanied by a small jaw and thick neck, you may be developing sleep apnea. People with this disorder actually stop breathing for ten or more seconds while they’re asleep. - Women should be alarmed if they suddenly notice an abundance of facial hair growing where there was once smooth skin. If dark course hair has started to grow on your chin, jawline, and upper lip, you may have polycystic ovary syndrome. This is a hormone imbalance that happens when male hormone levels are elevated in a woman. How to Create an Article

02:36
Welcome to the first video tutorial on our hometown’s prepress and digital publishing platform for newspapers. The first step is writing the articles, which you can do directly in the WordPress CMS. When logged in, I go to the WordPress dashboard and click the “articles” tab. This brings up the article index, where I can see all the stories in the CMS. To create a new article, I can hit “Add New”, which brings up a blank text editor. I’ll go on to write the story here, upload images through the media library, and format for digital. Another way to submit articles to the site is by emailing them. I’ll create an email draft, put my headline as the subject, write the article in the body, upload any images I want to include, and send to a dedicated email address that we can help you setup. If I go back to the article index, you see the article appears as a draft and it has the headline, body and images that I submitted. At this point you can go live with the article, or schedule it to go live in the future. In order for the article to appear on the front page, I need to assign it to a category, so I will set it to “Top News”. And finally I need to set the featured image, which controls the image appearing on the homepage and any other index pages that the article is included in. Then hit “Publish” to go live with the article. And if I go back to the homepage, you’ll see I have the new article in the first position of the top stories section. At this point, I’d like you to test your knowledge by going to your prototype site, logging in, and trying to post a new article on the homepage. If you have any questions, contact [email protected] for support. Once you’ve successfully posted the article, you’ll be ready to continue on to our next tutorial on “Editorial Workflow Tools”. See you then!

Read, Understand, and Remember! Improve your reading skills with the KWL Method

11:54
Is it difficult for you to understand or remember what you read? In this video, I will teach you an easy method that will help you become better at reading difficult material such as textbooks and journal articles. It is known as the "KWL" reading method. You will also remember more of what you read by using this method. If you plan to study at an English school, college, or university, this method will really help you. You can also use this method to help you in the IELTS and TOEFL exams. Try the KWL method yourself and tell me how it works for you in the comments! Take the quiz! https://www.engvid.com/kwl-reading-method/ TRANSCRIPT Hello. My name is Emma, and in today's video I am going to teach you how to be a better reader. So I want you to think about your life. Are there any things that are very difficult for you to read? Maybe you have to read something in English and you really don't understand what's happening in the story. Or maybe you're in university and you're taking a very hard course and you can't read the textbook because it's really difficult and you don't know what's happening. Well, if you're having difficulty reading or even if you just want to remember what you read more and be a better studier, this video is for you. So first let's look at some things students might be reading that might be causing difficulty. Some students in their universities they have to read textbooks. If you go to university or college, or also high school, you have to do a lot of reading and you have to do a lot of complicated reading, especially for sciences, maths, history. So, this is a very good method. I'm going to teach you how to read these books better. Newspapers. Sometimes you'll be reading the newspaper and it's difficult, especially in another language. So if you're reading a newspaper and, you know, you want to be better at reading it, this video is for you. Internet sources. There's a lot of great things on the internet to read, and so this will also help you if you look reading things from the internet. Magazines. Journals, for anyone who's a professional, whether you're a doctor, a nurse, a historian, or if you're in university or college, a lot of the times you have to read something called a journal, which is something for professionals to read about their field. So it's usually modern research. These things can be very difficult to read, so if you're reading these, this is a great technique for you. If you're doing the TOEFL or IELTS. Although I wouldn't recommend using this technique on the actual exam, I think it's great for your practice tests and I'll tell you why a bit later. So you can use this when you're practicing for the TOEFL and IELTS. And finally, if you're reading Shakespeare. When I read Shakespeare I had no idea what was going on. It was very confusing, all of the old English. I found it very difficult to read. There are also a lot of books that can be very, very hard to read. So these techniques will really work for you for any of these situations and many more. So before I teach you about the KWL technique, I just want you to think about reading for a second. Okay? A lot of people when they pick up a book, that's all they do. They open it up and they start reading right away, and then they close the book and then a lot of the times they don't really remember anything they read or they don't understand what they read. So it's a lot of wasted time. I like to think of reading how I think of jogging or running. So if we look here, I have the word "running" or "jogging". If you like exercise, any type of exercise kind of follows this format. So, reading is a lot like running. What a good reader does is they have a warm up period. So if you think about running, before you go running you usually stretch. Maybe you'll do a little bit of movement to get your heart pumped. So you don't just start running. You do a warm up. The same is true with reading. The best reading... The best readers usually do a warm up. For exercise, people then usually run or jog for a certain amount of time, and then afterwards they have what we call a cooldown period. So, "cooldown" is usually when somebody wants to slow their heartrate, so maybe they walk instead of run, maybe they do more stretches, but they don't just stop what they're doing. They slowly, you know, do slower activities before they stop jogging or running. So if you think about reading like exercise, you should also have a warm up, and then you read, and then the cooldown. This is the meat. This is the main idea of the KWL method, and I'm going to teach you exactly how we can do all of this when we read.
